Indiana - Providence pre game thread

Well, one more game in a disastrous trip to Atlantis. The good news is that Providence doesn’t look very good so far this year, with 3 relatively close calls vs cupcakes, and then obviously losing 2 in Atlantis. They also just finished their game so they’ll be on extremely short rest.

The bad news is Providence’s offensive profile looks similar to Louisville in the sense that they’re #8 in the country in 3 point rate. They are also #27 in the country in offensive rebounding rate. So they seem to be tailor made to exploit the glaring weaknesses in this IU team. Should be fun.

Why does it seem you could copy the first couple sentences and put it on their board about us?

Oof, I didn’t even think about that when writing that post, but it is true. Granted, Providence’s close calls look like they were much worse than IU’s.

IU -4.5

that's actually really sad to me.  coming into this tourney i would assume we'd be heavily favored against Providence.  it's honestly something i will always look forward to watching.  won't miss today's game.  my initial prediction would have been that i wouldn't be surprised if we lose this one.  i could see us coming out hard, then if Providence puts up any fight, us getting frustrated and pretty much packing it in.  but i do think them playing late last night is a big ask to turn around at 11am.  i mean maybe if a Providence player pisses us off early we will get fired up long enough to win?  honestly, i am thinking my speech if i'm Woodson is based around this - "Fellas, we're not playing good basketball and that's on all of us, including me.  We clearly have some major issues to fix with our play, our effort, our chemistry, you name it.  That said, remember your goals.  I would hope that winning is at the top, but if nothing else you are reflecting on yourself.  When you play without effort, selfish, make bad decisions, you're being evaluated for your chance to play at the next level.  if you're thinking you're transferring after this year, fine, but you're not helping yourself by giving this kind of effort."  oh, and BTW - i won't mention any names, but it sure is nice not having a certain poster dominating this board!  i guess i wouldn't have expected him to come on here and apologize for being so aggressively wrong.

I would assume he plays, but Carlyle is listed as questionable today as is Cupps.

Carlyle was a bit gimpy in the 2nd half yesterday...He gave a good effort I thought...Still hasn't found his shot, but the hustle was there...
