Guest
The Komets are the 2nd oldest minor league hockey team in existence, I believe. I grew up with them in the late sixties, early seventies. Used to go to over 30 games a year as a kid. Back then, they played in the International Hockey League. The IHL was below only the AHL in quality of league at that time. With only a handful of NHL teams, the Komets and all of the IHL had players who in today's game, would be playing in the NHL. I played with and against Colin Chin, one of the all-time Komet greats. He was a couple years younger than the rest of the age based youth league, but skated circles around us all. You are correct and they are the 8th oldest in all of professional hockey, that includes 6 NHL teams.
