  1. I really hope he can play, but will he be the player we need him to be with a not 100% ankle. Whatever we can get from him helps from the depth standpoint.
  2. I try to stay of these discussions because I know CMW knows way more than me and it's his show. But it would be very interesting to see Ware and Malik on the perimeter threatening to shoot the 3 against certain teams ( I'm looking at you Edey). Also if we can be good enough from the arc, teams can't continue to collapse on our bigs. I think we have more tools at our disposal than we have used so far.
  3. I'm hoping as guys start playing a little freer that more threes will present themselves within the offense. To get there we need more movement, shooters getting to spots, and the bigs finding them a bit more. And we have to start hitting the ones we get. I worry that guys with NBA ambitions might be less reluctant to share the ball than to score themselves. Of course, I could be wrong about everything.
  4. I want to see a competitive game and continued improvement. I would love a win but I'm not sure how much that helps us in the bigger picture. CMW is trying to teach our new guys the value of playing a certain way. I'm not sure a win reinforces that in a way that helps us down the road. We need to establish new habits for a lot of guys in order to be successful in March. I guess I'm saying I'm not sure we are mentally ready to win a game like this.
  5. We've been to the music festival three times and Graceland twice. It was always a great time. Think what you will about the "King", but he accomplished a tremendous amount during his time here. Beal Street is among my favorite places.
  6. Taco Bell when there is no other choice. My wife and I were in Memphis for the Beal Street Music Festival in 1998 and after the concert Taco Bell was all that was open. We got bean burritos and something else and went back to our motel. I was too drunk to know if it was good or bad. I did satisfy the late night drunken craving for food.
  7. I went with Ware because he was our most dependable on offense in the second half. He is better so far than I thought he would be at this point.
  8. Everything needs work so it will be interesting to see how CMW prioritizes things. We need reps with the starters but also need reps from the bench. Looking forward to the y.
  9. Watching some of those videos just reminds me of how complicated and difficult and how accommodating and funny CBK could be. I watched one with Sage Steele where she ran into him and asked him about her dad who was a football player at Army when Coach Knight was there. He was gentle and kind and accommodating to her and it meant so much to her. The knee jerk reactions from people who only knew him from short TV clips or agenda inspired articles are lazy and sad to see. RIP CBK.
  10. Not sure if he got credit for it, but it looked like Cupps blocked the last shot from Florida Gulf Coast.
  11. When I was at ISU, SMW was an all girls school in West Terre Haute. Why are teams beating up on the girls school?
  12. First game for him this year. I think we forget that it takes kids a while to find their place. Those guys who were a part of the great teams in the early 90's took their lumps early in their careers. We just don't have much patience with kids anymore. If they aren't great early, we just seem to write them off. Give Banks and Gunn a bit to settle in. They might just surprise us.
  13. The talent is there to be a really good tear. We have to understand that they are still figuring things out. It will take a while. CMW knows how to get the best out of this group. We talk sometimes like he doesn't see what we see. Pretty sure he does. In listening to various former players talk about CBK I was reminded of how far advanced he was compared to the kids coming into the program. CMW knows how to coach. He will get everything possible out of this team.
  14. Man I suffered through all of those. I wish we could just look at people through the lens of the time in which they lived instead of judging them by today's standards. CBK was the perfect coach for IU during his best years. He was an innovator and changed how basketball was played. What most people don't understand is what a great humanitarian he was to so many people. I am grateful to have lived during his entire tenure at my favorite university coaching the greatest game ever invested.
  15. Yes, 100%. Take everything with a grain of salt if you like but understand that everything in recruiting is fluid and what is true now might not be an hour from now. I appreciate everything that gets shared and know that nothing is 100% until a recruit says it is. I have no contacts and know nothing about the inside operation of the program and appreciate whatever anyone wants to share.
  16. I've always thought that it's possible to be sorry for someone's passing without making them out to be someone they were not. He had a difficult early life and that is hard to overcome. However, that doesn't excuse what happens later. I'm sorry at his passing and feel for the pain that those close to him are feeling. Also, not at all sorry that Sampson is no longer our coach.
  17. That is a rabbit hole if there ever was one. Lots of information about some really shady characters in the area who may or may not have been involved in the murders. Almost too much to make sense of after a while.
  18. There seems to be evidence that the crime scene wasn't properly secured and / or contaminated. It was also reported that pieces of potential evidence were not collected until some time after discovery of the bodies. I'm also really disturbed that the sheriff refused search dogs and drones with heat imaging technology in the early hours of the search. The whole investigation reeks of gross incompetence to me. I want someone held accountable for this horrible crime, but I want to to be the right person or persons.
  19. This and if I remember correctly he has had some pretty credible people with high level NBA experience telling him all of the positives of CMW. I'm taking about you, Carmelo.
  20. Exactly. CMW is building a team. He is looking for pieces that fit what he is trying to do. Given the talent he has coached in his career, I am not questioning anyone who he wants. I'm thinking he knows what he is doing.
  21. CMW came in assuming we already were. I have loved his attitude since he was hired. The goal is championships, plain and simple. I worked for the Postal Service for 34 years. Our on time delivery standard was always something less than 100%. I never understood u. CMW's goal from day one was a national championship. I absolutely love that. This is the coach we have needed for a very long time.
  22. I worked at one of those when I was in college at my residence hall. Yes, I am THAT old.
  23. The possibility of a last minute bidding war always worries me.
  24. Would like to know what their conversations with CMW were like. I'm assuming he know all of those guys.
