  1. My wife and I had a running bet about how far into the show we would get before that certain phrase was uttered.
  2. Alcohol is the main trigger for me. Limit my intake and acid reflux becomes very manageable.
  3. Freak of nature is right. McGinnis could easily play in today's game. He was the prototype of the modern wing back then. Also played tight-end (I think) for the football team. Can you imagine being a 5' 8" db and seeing him coming at you full speed?
  4. I always assume the best version of whatever team we play.
  5. A lot of this is trying to run an NBA style offense, which is what kids want to do today. I absolutely hate it. Purdue is way more fun to watch, except I hate Purdue.
  6. After reading through this thread, I am clearly a bottom shelf guy.
  7. With the right additions, we may be a year away from seeing CMW's vision of IU basketball. I really like what Gunn and Banks can be. I'm not as pessimistic about next year as some.
  8. Your son will no doubt benefit from going through this experience. Probably much more than those who have everything given to them. I know you are a proud Dad.
  9. Since guys are making money now, maybe they should consider basketball more as a job instead of just fun. To beat the teams we want to beat I guarantee that the preparation required won't be fun. I'm guessing that CMW is employing the "you think you are playing hard, but you're not" mantra that CBK always used.
  10. I thought the same thing. An absolutely unlikable guy. In fact, the entire team whined and flopped all night. Definitely have the personality of the coach. Win and lose with class, that's all I ask.
  11. I respect honoring commitments. And that should be a two way street. I don't know what the deal is with LD, but Woodson said earlier that he thought he should put in more work. If he doesn't, I could see him being somewhere else next season. I also feel like Jordan is playing for his spot on the roster. We need more from him to be a great team. I like everyone we have and want them all to succeed, but we will only move up in college basketball by continually adding better players. It's a develop and get better or be replaced world now.
  12. This was a reality check. Now forget the press clipping and get back to work. It's going to be a long season and this won't be the last loss. The intensity wasn't there all game. I didn't see the fire from TJD that I expected either. For all the grief he gets, I thought that Kopp was the only one really locked in. I don't know what is wrong with Thompson, he just looks off. I wonder if he is dealing with some injury. He's better than what we have seen. Regardless, on to the next one.
  13. I'm not that concerned about what ranking or what quad a team is in. I just want to beat whoever is next on the schedule.
  14. This will be a test of CMW's defense. If we can contain their guards and make it difficult to initiate the offense, I like our chances. Make them play our game.
  15. We have a whole off-season to work out the details.
  16. Maybe not. I am just beyond frustrated by what has happened these last few years. There is an answer in there somewhere, but I don't know what it is.
  17. Like I have said over and over, I see no reason why we can't be on the same level of the other mid pack teams in the conference. Something is systematically wrong at IU. Maybe we just don't have the will and are content to wait for basketball season each year.
  18. We don't have enough talent, plain and simple. Our recruiting compared to the rest of the B1G proves that year after year. To me, it looks like we are nowhere going nowhere.
  19. I'm not sure you understood what I was saying. I have no problem using this bench if it gives us an advantage. Against really good teams it may not. I'm just saying that there are different ways to win. To me, It usually comes down to having your best players on the court as much as possible. Coach Knight, love him or hate him, used the bench when someone wasn't doing what he wanted or when someone was in foul trouble most of the time. I like our bench this year a lot. If they continue to develop and can produce against better teams, by all means use them.
  20. Agree completely. A good bench is a useful tool. But I've been watching a lot of games from the 80's and 90's and CBK didn't use the bench all that much. In fact, I'm not sure IT came out of any game I watched. I think we probably over value depth when everyone is healthy. Depth, however, is really important when the inevitable injuries occur. It's the difference between a season falling apart and maintaining success.
  21. I haven't seen enough of the top teams to say one way or the other. But, I know our bench is really good and getting better. I feel like guys are starting to figure out their roles. That alone can separate great teams from good teams. One thing that CBK did really well was figure out pretty quickly who could do what and then make his players fill those roles. I think Coach Woodson is letting these guys figure that out on the court. Should be fun to watch.
  22. There are a lot of teams like this. They're really athletic but not great basketball players. They are like nats buzzing around your head. Crazy annoying.
  23. I'm keeping an open mind on this. Everything about this is odd. It's unbelievable that he was able to live and work there and no one suspected that he was the killer. I want whoever is responsible caught and convicted but I'm not going to rush to judgement. I want to see the evidence. I have felt from the beginning that the authorities have botched the case. Given what has transpired I don't understand the degree of secrecy from the start.
