  1. Lots of cynical speculation on Track Forum but no one believes it will have anything to do with starting a team. Most think it will be a "Tony" centric announcement. Perhaps something to do with the museum. He tagged several racing series so we'll see.
  2. I agree. But if the skill set didn't fill a need maybe we will be better off looking somewhere else. CMW seems to have a plan and we can only take so many of the same type players. Anyway, those making the decisions are way smarter than me.
  3. Man, that's not what I expected. All were wearing seatbelts and the air bags deployed.... how fast were the cars going to be fatal for everyone? I hope there is a reasonable explanation for her car crossing the center line.
  4. That started with Buckner and Wilkerson. Probably the most imposing backcourt I have ever seen.
  5. What's petty is high school coaches using their relationship with the kids to mess with their decision about what's best for them. I have no respect for Izzo and how he runs his program. I hope Booker made that call without Delaney's influence. I can't imagine that he is in better hands in any way with Izzo than he would be with Woodson or probably any number of other coaches.
  6. I think these freshmen are better than what we are used to. I think we have a chance to be very, very good. Our starters should be able to play with anyone. And, when we go to the bench, we should be much stronger than we were a year ago. Malik off the bench is better than Durr was, no disrespect to that young man. And, I think we can do that for every position.
  7. I'm taking CMW every time over some high school coach with a hurt ego. On a side note, I have zero respect for a high school coach who uses kids for their own benefit. I'm not saying this is the case, but.... Woodson is an Indy kid. He has more local credibility than some of these people ever will.
  8. As it should be. Nothing is more important than the awesome responsibility of being a dad.
  9. CMW seems to be building a team of tough, hard nosed players. The ability to defend looks like the number one priority. He is looking at some kids who can shoot, but they must also be able to defend. I don't see any Blackmons in our future.
  10. When Woodson was hired, a real concern was whether or not he would be able to recruit in today's environment. I think he is answering that question quite nicely. Not only can he recruit, but he has assembled a strong staff to support that effort. Everyone is working towards the same goal. Impressive!
  11. Yes he does and he seems to enjoy the controversy. I in no way defend what Dakich does or says, but the way the IndyStar has handled this is beyond disgusting. The paper, which I have subscribed to for over forty years, has devolved into a gossip rag that doesn't deserve the title "newspaper". It's a sad day for journalism.
  12. The sad thing is that he was one of the good guys when he started with that show. He was an IU guy and I thought really cared about the university, but as time went by, he became really angry. I liked his show for a long time. I don't think he was ever the same after his divorce. He almost became a shock jock that was a parody of himself. The way this has played out is really sad. By the way, I lost a lot of respect for Greg Doyel for writing that article.
  13. What's wrong indeed. I've lived within 25 miles of Indianapolis my entire life. Spent 10 years living just south of Butler University during the '70's. I've been to every mall multiple times over the years and loved the city. Not anymore. There's a mentality that I can't wrap my head around. I don't know what it will take to restore some sanity to our society, but we need to figure it out really soon. I am terrified for my grandkids and the world they will inherit.
  14. Coach Painter does a great job with undervalued kids who he thinks can play and fit with what he is trying to do. Coach Woodson is building a different type of team. He wants an NBA style of play and team. Two different approaches and we will find out on the court which one prevails.
  15. Amazing that what we see in the sky may no longer be there. We are so caught up in our day to day lives that we have no perspective of the processes that occur over the span of time. I tried once to figure out what my lifespan would be in terms of the age of the earth. Math is not my strong point, but I came up with about a half of a second. Very humbling.
  16. Very disappointing! The cost gasoline, combined with high inflation, hurts everyone. For the poor, It's devastating.
  17. Product placement is one of the least recognized advertising strategies. It's everywhere in movies and sporting events. Everything is, and always has been, about the money.
  18. It's extremely difficult to get mental health care that makes a difference. If the person needing help is over 18, it's nearly impossible without the person's consent. No matter how much you want to help, you can't. I was a part of a support group for mental illness for several years and the frustration for people who have mentally ill loved ones is nearly unbearable. The HIPPA laws severely restrict what parents and relatives can do, no matter how concerned they are. It's tragic really. It's a hard problem and politicians and government officials don't do hard problems very well.
  19. I refuse to use them. Give me a decent manual can opener every time.
  20. Quite often what's wrong with kids starts with what's wrong with the parents.
  21. Really good take. They have a lot of nice pieces and Painter is usually pretty good at making them fit. The defense took a step back last year and I don't think the chemistry was all that good. Painter seems to coach better without a superstar on the team.
  22. I had a high school coach throw a Kotex on the floor at halftime and walk out.....so there's that.
  23. That was nothing less than awesome. It was his team all four years he was here. The "mighty Quinn" indeed.
  24. In that case, Hulls should be great if we go overseas for a basketball tour. He has had the experience.
  25. I mostly blame the egos of guys with too much money. The atmosphere at the Speedway in the 80's through the mid 90's was phenomenal. There was no better place to spend an Indiana spring day. Full month of activity and no better place to people watch. Some of the things I have seen out there will forever be burned into my memory. I will admit to liking the less corporate nature of the sport back then, hut the costs of the technology that was coming made the current model inevitable. Like so many other things, there is no going back. Back to the original question, the "split" was the beginning but the landscape of change was already underway.
