I saw that earlier and responded to him! Like most, I wanted him gone, but he truly is a class act! IU is a better place because of CTC! I will always have the utmost respect for him as a man! FKIM01
I will say this based on the above statement and tweet, Tom Crean and Rick Pitino could not be any more polar opposite than they are. You have a class act guy and the scum of the earth in these two.

But on such notice, you almost have to go in house. The kids (they are kids) need stability. They are not finding a long term replacement right now. So to keep the players stable, in house makes sense for now. Clean house after the season when kids can choose to stay or leave.

Davis should've been named interim coach for a year and then immediately terminated after the Kent St game. The then 36 year old native son should've been hired. I would never want him now but in 2001 he's the one guy who would've united a very bitter and divided fan base and probably kept guys like Matta out of the state. Keeping Davis was maybe the biggest blunder our administration ever made.

With no AD in place, there is no long term vision. The players need stability. I think The right move is in house for THIS SEASON ONLY. Then get a new AD and start from scratch. Yeah, on basically day 1 of basketball season, they just need someone who can keep things stable - especially with a talented team. The only danger of picking someone on the staff is that they're trusting he had no knowledge of or nothing to do with the scandal. They'd be crazy to keep Padgett after this season as the long-term coach.
