Yep...and a very nice man. I had the good fortune of knowing him when he managed the Stadium Club in old Busch Stadium. Had a few great conversations with him.

Color me gobsmacked. I’m usually pretty good with sports history, but this is the first time I’d ever heard of him. A true old school defensive SS, I’m assuming?

Yeah, of course I never saw him play, but he was supposedly a great fielder and leader on some pretty fair Cardinal teams. Tall for a shortstop. I hope some day the Hall of Fame voters put him in...
