I wouldn’t complain. We have a need for his position. He has seemed to regress the past year or two but I think he would be serviceable for the spot we need filled. Odds are slim tho so I won’t get my hopes up

Ok but the 13th scholarship doesn’t automatically have to be the worst player on the team. For example, if we add that Humrichous player with the last scholarship available, I don’t think anyone would say he’s our worst player. The fact that the 13th scholarship last season wasn’t used as an opportunity to upgrade talent is the issue. Missing out on an NAIA level talent isn’t the issue.

I think there’s a difference between giving players a chance and being honest with yourself and knowing where you need to upgrade talent. Anybody could’ve looked at our guard situation last year and noticed it was a little suspect. You have to do your due diligence and put together the best roster possible. It’s ok to admit that Woodson failed in that department last year

I like that. His size is much more appealing than CE. Similar role and game but can play the wing rather than adding to the 6 guards that will all be competing for 2 spots

I’m looking forward to seeing what Newton can provide us this year. You can’t bank on him being an impact player given he hasn’t played competitive basketball in 2 years at this point, but the potential is there. Hopefully we see some of that potential this year
