  1. Day 1 of the 64 years/teams of IU Basketball Tournament Vote for the team you think would win Each day (Mon-Fri) will have 4 games and the polls will be open for 48 hours. I will try to post the new day’s games at noon EST. HSN members are encouraged to discuss memories of the teams involved in today’s matchup, post links to videos/games, etc. before voting on that day’s matchups. The bracket was seeded sequentially by year (2020-1957) from most recent to oldest. Today’s Bracket:
  2. Be sure to repost those links in the game thread tomorrow
  3. Good question. The question posed in the poll will just be "Who wins?". It will be up to each HSN member to decide how they want to vote and the parameters surrounding the "game". One might try to "simulate" the game in their mind (or online at places like https://www.whatifsports.com/ncaab/default.asp#top). Another might pick based on like/dislike of players and/or the coach. I'm hoping people will discuss the teams in question (debate/plead their case) and link to games/videos before voting. My ultimate answer to your question is "It is up to you" and is specific to each person voting.
  4. Here's a preview of game one... Game 1 VS The opening game of the tournament pits the Archie Miller’s 2020 Hoosiers led by McDonald’s All-American Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis vs. Branch McCracken’s 1957 Big Ten Champion squad led by future NBA player Archie Dees. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/indiana/2020.html https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/indiana/1957.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019–20_Indiana_Hoosiers_men's_basketball_team https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1956–57_Indiana_Hoosiers_men's_basketball_team
  5. SIAP https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2019/06/27/ihsaa-basketball-westfield-player-excels-despite-small-stature-charlie-hughes-shootout/1545990001/ Looks like he was 5'9 his freshman year and is 5'10 now according to more recent reports.
  6. Living in Westfield, I'm going to try and check out more games the next two years. If he pops for IU early, then even moreso.
  7. Watched his 1st half against Frankfort a week or so ago and he's definitely athletic enough IMO. He led his team in rebounds last year as a freshman PG and is only about 5'10. I wouldn't be surprised if he can dunk already (or soon will) even at his height.
  8. Time to add Lander. 2021 for now, but likely 2020. Go Hoosiers!
  9. I live in Westfield so I'm going to try to make it to the home finale tomorrow night.
  10. KAT wants to/thinks he will be the greatest of all time. Laughable. He's overrated b/c he's a stat stuffer, but you're right he's the problem/not a winning player. Minnesota didn't get better/may have gotten worse with this trade, which says a lot b/c Wiggins isn't living up to his hype (other than for a short time at the beginning of this year). DR and KAT's pick and roll will be tough to stop, but neither of them have had any issues with scoring prior to this, so it's not an improvement.
  11. Thanks. Any info is great and you provided a great amount! I too would like to know what his thoughts are about IU and his favorite team(s)
  12. Since I saw there was another 2023 recruit page, I was wondering if anyone had any info on Jalen Hooks. Reminds me of young Giannis in the video:
  13. Anyone else see some D-Wade in his game (after watching this video)?
  14. I think part of the Pacers problem is all of the new faces (minus Brogdon) are either young/inexperienced or if they have experience it was in a losing environment (Lamb, Warren). Have yet to learn how to win at the NBA level.
  15. Quote from this article (https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27763420/nba-30-teams-rated-top-contenders-bottom-tier) I thought you'd enjoy: George is overtaxed as a No. 1 option, perfect as second banana.
  16. Agreed. He was a strange guy. Saw him coming out of a beauty salon on Mass. Ave (downtown Indy) carrying a small dog like a housewife once.
  17. I think they were excellent additions regardless of the timing. Gordon's team was final four caliber prior to his injury and Sampson's exit. Romeo's team was at a minimum going to the tournament prior his (and other's) injuries. They missed the tourney by one game after losing 12 of 13 (or whatever it was). I don't think they lose all those game or miss the tourney if Romeo was 100%. I do see the point your trying to make, but I think too many people are diminishing Romeo's contributions to the team in his lone season at IU (and maybe Gordon's to a lesser extent).
  18. I definitely get a Victor/OG vibe from this kid. Glad he's a Hoosier!
  19. With the way the scoring works (more points for longer correct picks), I don't see why anyone would pick "?", just make a guess or don't log a pick, but what do I know?
  20. Agreed on the differences in athleticism regarding the players you mentioned. Of course, Haas was never going to be as athletic as Bryant. Swanigan may be a really good comp with Bryant. IIRC they're both McD's All-Americans and came back for a sophomore year with a focus on extending their range to make themselves more attractive to the NBA. I'm sure both fanbases had moments where they wished the players would go inside instead of jacking up 3's. Both Painter/Crean seem to have allowed the players the freedom to try to develop a skill required in today's NBA. In regards to Haas, it is unlikely he could have been developed into an NBA player by anyone. It does make me wonder about someone like Frank Kaminski though. I doubt many had him as a 1st round pick coming into college (could be wrong), but in Wisconsin's system he became one. So I guess if Haas went somewhere like there he might have had a better chance (to avoid STD's).
  21. He could if he had developed his bigs to have an outside shot, no? However, it doesn't fit his system, and he's trying to win games instead of develop bigs for today's NBA. So I don't think it's a knock on Painter to say he doesn't develop bigs for the NBA, b/c it isn't his priority, winning is, and I would think Turdue fans would be happy with that.
  22. Watching the video of his sophomore highlights on TDH's article, I think he would be a good fit at Iowa. Looks like some of their players over the past few seasons. I trust in Archie, but I'm not excited about this offer (yet having only seen one video) with Kaufman and Furst still available.
