The IDS article (per usual) sucks.

Those look to be the weakest grouping of reasons needed to hold a "vote".

    Academia is full of p******.

Totally agree. Most of them are wrapped around a political stance that most people could care-a-less about. The Palestinian thing, I imagine 95% of the public has no clue what is going on over there.  The Kinsey Institute I can see spinning off because that place was based on all lies to support a theory out of some freaks head.

  2. This NIL and portal stuff is really becoming a concern. I don't think NCAA Championships will be a part of the equation any longer. We have seen how ISU has been devastated by the transfers. Have we ever witnessed anything like that? All those donors who threw into the NIL have nothing, now. History of programs will become an afterthought. It becomes programs with the highest bidder. Loyalty has been shot through the heart. The 1-year commitments will become common place. $$ has become the focal point. Once the public can't relate to the players, interest will wane. $$ will rule.

  3. Nothing like laying a boiled egg. Boil-her-up. For a moment I thought it was IU on the floor trading 2's for 3's. Purdue's last chance at a title shot.

Coach of the year and player of the year couldn't get it done.

Eddy picks up his first foul halfway through the 2nd half. That is one of the more amazing stats of the game.

"The way it has become" is "the way it's always been" for decades.  It just wasn't talked about openly.  These amounts of money have always been tossed around in college athletics.

Correct. The veil has been pulled back to bring out for public viewing. All wrapped in a cute little package called NIL. Oh, the fans will love it because of this or that. How it is perceived, and intent are 2 different things. College sports viewership will begin to drop.

    Then, why do you watch?

I gave up all sports except for college basketball, the last stand. But the portal and NIL and other monies have severely damaged the game as we knew it. The refs are the handlers of the outcome for the most part. As more money gets pushed into sports the more obvious it becomes.

So many games are rigged in sports, and you are too blind to see. Don't you think it's interesting that sports are now tied to gambling and the bookies in Vegas? Fanduel ads and such. You see bad calls by refs as just that. It only takes a few calls to change the winner of a game. It's all about making money in Vegas.

Why would it be rigged for Purdue though?  What do they bring to the table that Duke, UNC, Huston or anyone else doesn't? Not saying sports aren't rigged, but why Purdue, what do they bring to the table that the other don't?

They don't have to bring anything to the table. History repeats itself.

So if Purdue loses to NC State I'm assuming they would be only team in history of tournament to lose to 4 straight double digit seeds?

Doubt it will happen. Purdue is penciled in to win it all. Reminds me of the Virgina championship a few years back, where they lost in the 1st round the previous year as a 1 seed. Let's not forget their last 3 games where they had multiple shots at 3's in the last few seconds to win each game. Of course, it was all rigged.
