You made your point. Set your evidence and argued your side.  At that point, its over.  They either get what you're saying or they don't.  People don't agree with you, welcome to the internet, to the world in general.  You tried and now its time to move on.  Continuing to tell everyone you're right and stating the same thing over and over telling them they are wrong or don't know what they're talking about is at some point going to be counter productive and will make future points you make hold less value.  Just my thoughts.

Pertaining to the Bold statement, have you considered that people might not need or want your "help them see reality".  Which is quite condescending by the way.  Maybe stick with twitter where you seem to have the audience you want/need for your way of thinking. I also read the whole thread and most people on here agreed with you to an extent or looked at it slightly different, but you seemed to want the all or nothing agreement from them.  Take your wins where you can and move on.  Not sure beating the same drum or horse is going to win you anything.

    Just my thoughts.

The amount of people who went at me for days on this subject. Told me I was crazy. IU has at least top 10% facilities. Recruits don’t care etc.  This discussion goes way beyond this thread and no, by far the majority believe we don’t have an issue here.

I guess I don’t see the issue with posting more facts on it. You had to chime in and tell me, like you are my dad, that I am beating a dead horse in a thread about this very subject.  Actually, what is beating a dead horse is feeling the need to respond.

I was not attacking anyone, I was posting it in the right thread, I was simply posting some new insight, why do I “need to move one?” Why do you care if I post facts in the correct thread? Don’t read it.

To your bold statement, that was a response to you and why I was posting it again. Either way, condescending haha. What is condescension is your need to talk to me like I am a child.

Look, I gave it a run. I was PMed by so many prior posters who told me they stopped posting here and only read. That they hoped I would stick around and not let the peanut gallery run me off like they have been.  The 15 guys who post daily here want your personal “god old boys club.” No worries.  I don’t think many of you realize you’re not very open to differing opinions. Most of you appear to know each other for years and it shows.

you win, I am out. The day that Twitter is became more welcoming to debate than a message board.

  2. My bet, and well could be wrong, we have had a list like Rayj (who is visiting all kinds of places now), some in the draft etc. but…. if someone like TrillyDonovan knew this wasn’t going to work at Michigan weeks ago, I am sure our staff knew too.

so… we will know quickly as others have said. This will end the debate on if we “lost him” or we backed away. If we liked him before, we could have stayed in touch and just been waiting. Missouri doesn’t have the need anymore either.

Don't laugh, IU doesn't require students to take the SAT or ACT to get in anymore. Only in Kelly and Music school. To be more diverse allowing more inter city kids. 3 years in a row record numbers of Freshman. Degrees from IU are meaning less and less each year.

The not needing SAT thing is continuing at most but the top end schools. Even some very well respected schools are going forward with that.

It lost its ability to define truly good students when rich parents paid for prep classes weekly for months on end. Not uncommon for really poor students to kill the SAT now with them basically getting test answers. It is now just studying for a test and not learned knowledge

yes. IU has some “standards” on transfers to the Crean comment but nowhere near Michigan. Michigan is way up there on standards.

  4. For those dogging Trilly and how he had this wrong - he knew all along. That is the best Twitter account to follow and trust. Maybe not 100% but he is really dialed into things.

yes, this is not a new thing for Michigan and they are going more and more this way even with general students. Really hard to get in. I bet his credits transfer fine to most other P5s. Will see.

Who would you target? Names specifically lol

Just because I don’t have a set list, because I can’t know who might have entered portal Thursday and has not been released, I can still see what they want and don’t want. They want a stud or they will just roll with it.  This is fairly obvious when you see these “shooter” types that the fans want and they barely touch them

I still think they are trying for Rayj and Devo for sure if he out name in portal (which he should have because Arkansas totally over loaded his position)

Right...but I guess I'm surprised he didn't even listen to IU's pitch.  What's the attraction to MS?

I don’t think we were that interested. The staff keeps showing us what they want.

it makes sense to me as he is not a top p6 guy and just a chance for him to move up.

I like how he drives with his head up…nice floater and passing.

Remains to be seen but I don’t think this is what the staff ideally wants. They will reach out lots of guys but I can’t see them being excited for him.

TG would be the same or better with that competition level. They want elite athletes and ideally a 1 year guy to kneel scholarships free for next class.

As good as he is, the NBA Draft Net pointed out several things that he needed to work on (according to ITH story)

    • 1:1.7 assist/TO ratio
    • Sub-par FT shooter
    • High volume of shots, but not great shooting %
    • Picks up dribble too soon, then takes contested shots

Proper coaching, and hard work by MM should be able to fix some of these quickly. Others may take a little time. So I don't expect him to come in and be a man against boys.

Depending on Woody's offensive choice this year, he could put all of the guys in some great positions to score, since it appears our overall talent level has increased significantly.

Now the question is how quick can the new guys learn the defense...and play it well...

Saw a great post of someone who has seen him live 5 times. Lot of great info but the main thing he said - he is just like JHS in that he is a man. Looks, walks and acts 25. I will take that all day.

he also said somethings very interesting in his quotes- “coach said I have the opportunity to come in and if I do what I capable of, start and earn lots of minutes.” “Melo said Woody is amazing but he is going to push you hard.” That is telling

Yea, I thought for sure David had entered the draft and the portal, but I cannot find anything about him and the portal. And I thought Trilly had said something about Rayj not looking at IU?

Perhaps I am getting people crossed up. Sometimes this stuff makes my head spin. 😵💫

Devo is in draft but didn’t get combine invite. Wouldn’t be shocked if he entered portal last day and not public yet.

Rayj - yes, Trilly did but also didn’t seem like he was fully dialed on that one. Said it was possible it was setup and he didn’t know. He just went from ILL visit to Michigan visit. Michigan people said IU and Baylor were in it.

Still plenty good options with more names that have not came out. Got to think a solid 2 would look at this lineup now and get excited.

It seems he never did officially enter the portal. For me, I guess it was always assumed.

There were for sure people who entered that haven’t shown up yet as paperwork processes. Maybe he is staying in but he was for sure a target.

I still think Rayj could end up our way too because the staff was on him hard for a bit.

So if Mark Cuban follows you, you wouldn't follow him back? As far as we know, he's just doing what the players and coaches are doing etc. First and foremost he's a basketball team owner, fan and IU graduate.  I know you're really into the followers etc, but so far it doesn't really seem to indicate one thing or another based on the other transfers we've gone after. Is it a bad thing they follow each other, no. But we've gone done this road enough to know who's following who really doesn't indicate much. That's my point.

Of course I would but I wouldn’t follow a known big IU guy the morning of my announcement for KU. I wouldn’t have followed JHS yesterday. These guys are very picky on who they follow. Look at how many follow him vs who he follows.

and Cuban is way to busy to follow rando recruits as a fan. You don’t need to for the announcement etc. he has a public profile. You know what you do need to private DM? Both to follow each other.  Could easily see “happy to have you on board and excited for next year. Congrats and good luck today.”

it is not definitive but way too many go to great lengths to act like it means nothing. It means more than most insider guys.

those that point at Ledlum don’t realize it proves the point even more. He was followed and he followed tons of IU guys. He did say he was in on the visit and why Twitter went nuts and everyone said he almost didn’t make the TN visit. He did all that because he thought he was in too. But… morning of his announcement he started to follow TN people including a big booster.  🤔

mall I am getting at is we are here speculating and this stuff matters a lot more than most realize in todays recruiting.

I understand and believe what you’re saying, but I have to wonder just how much whipped cream can you put on a milk shake! I think Indiana fans and the state in general let players KNOW they are rock stars and they don’t need individual intro’s. Also I feel that in order to compete on the floor you don’t want pampered pets you want trained attack dogs! Are the players that want fluff and hold their hands out for more NIL the ones you want?

It is this… first, more fans need to realize it. The staff has to sell a lot harder than many realize. “How hard is it to sell IU, we have the best this, the best that, this staff keeps missing etc.”

second, we have to be closer to par. You can’t have this even be a thing. Sales 101 is remove excuses and doubts. Should this matter than much, no but when guys are looking this effects perceptions. I hope the department finally understands it and ready to make some upgrades
