I'd say take a hard pass on that. Purdue stood by the kid after mistakes...and now he bolts? Seems to me something else is off.
Butler bound?

State played great defense
Not sure how Purdue is all the sudden “the” premier team in the state
IU has earned that for 50 years
Braden bet on the under ?
I appreciate you but Purdue is ahead of IU in all aspects and have for quite a while. Painter is a great coach and gets his team to buy in.

Gonzaga's million dollar offer to Braden Smith just got cut by 2/3.

It's probably just a sign that dad is a sh*tty coach.
Penny is 133-61 in six years.
His son didn't play very much. Maybe transfer to a lesser school, get pt and build that body of work.

Honestly I respect Painter and their guys play well but I simply can't root for them. This is for the simple fact they will finally have a championship and they can throw that in our faces while we sit here and struggle just to maintain some semblance of relevance in the basketball world. Not to mention I really would not like to see Edy get a championship cause of his play and how lenient the refs are always on him.
Wonder if a Purdue championship would finally wake up the powers that be at Indiana.

Absolutely silly how badly fans overreact. Same thing applies to Woodson being the worst coach ever. He's a long way from Kenny Payne.
Don't remember anyone saying he is the worst coach ever. A bad coach? Yes. He stinks.
Overreaction goes both ways BTW.
I'm glad MM is back. We need guards and shooters like crazy.

Need shooters and makers bad!!

I'm hoping for a Hubert Davis type turnaround.

I wasn’t aware that the NIT finals would be in Indy this year. It truly was gutless for IU to not accept a bid to potentially play in Indy. Watched OSU/GA and those teams both really wanted it.
1. CMW on vacation
2. 2/3 of the team transfered/hurt/going pro/not good enough to play
3. Busy contacting every player in portal and following them on Instagram and Myspace.

Calimari is an average coach that used to be able to have a major advantage by buying players before NIL was a thing.
Now that everyone is openly buying players, he lost his advantage.
If we want the one coach that can do less than Woodson with more talent, then cal is the guy.
Personally I would rather someone get more out of the team than the sum of their parts.
He doesn't need to buy players. He just needs to show recruits the salaries of his past players in the NBA and how many of his former players are on the all-star team.

You have one of the best big men in the last several decades who draws fouls like crazy, and a team that is taught to not commit many fouls on defense to allow mid-range jumpers and protect the rim. It adds up to the FT differential you’ve seen this year. Edey’s arms look like he got mauled by a wild animal the other day lol.
Do people actually think there is some conspiracy behind the scenes that Purdue is getting some unfair officiating?
Purdue will have trouble once/if they run into a team that can pressure the ball and make it more difficult to feed the post. These last two teams were just cannon fodder. I'm not sure they'll face a team like that. Not sure UConn can even do that.

Is that @bluegrassIU squealing in the background at the Bama GCU game?
They need to have that little girl at every game. Adds excitement.

Wonder if our coaching staff is watching the Texas A&M defense against Nebraska and Tomi. Probably sleeping.

On the other side of the FAU/Northwestern coin, I really was impressed with how NW came out fighting and were super physical. Collins has done a really good job.
They are an easy team to root for. UConn will be tough.
**I would take Indiana State's head coach over May. I'd be happy with either though.

Time for Kentucky fans to start a “Fire Coach Calipari “ thread…going out early again. This time to powerhouse #14 seed Oakland University. So much talent going to waste!

I think it’s awesome he is back. It will help bring in some high level perimeter players knowing there is a serious inside scoring threat. Just my opinion, but Malik could have gone literally anywhere. Woodson just needs to get a high level supporting cast, and figure out how to use them.
He would have made less NIL almost anywhere else. Why would he leave?

This is 100% where I’m at. I just don’t think they really want to fire an IU legend. This was the year to do it. I think he plays out his contract if he chooses to unless next year is completely worse. Maybe we can force retirement but I think he is too stubborn and arrogant to be forced into anything at this point…
This is the bad part of being an IU fan. Years 1 and 2 weren't that great and year 3 was atrocious. Unless he hits a home run in the portal and he changes his system, year 4 will be worse. He has had the same offense and defense for 3 years and it sucked then and it will suck in the future. He is lazy, stubborn and a 66 year old in a 90 year olds body. Who cares what he wants. One of his buddies or his wife needs to tell him that he sucks and be a grandpa and enjoy his multi million dollars his below average behind got from IU.
Also, nobody cares what he did in 1980. 44 years ago....

Hopefully Woodson is paying attention to this math lesson tonight. 3>2. And they aren’t changing the rules next season so can we please get players that can shoot and an offense that creates 3s?
Woodson doesn't care. He's just getting a paycheck.

I hope we get multiple guards who can all do multiple things. I don't want one guard who is our designated "shooter" and one who is our designated "ball handler." We need some interchangeable pieces in the backcourt.
I want a duplicate of that Baylor team that won the natty a few years ago. Those guards were really good!
Nothing like wishing your team was like a totally different team.

Interesting stat of the day...
In Big 10 play, when IU shoots 16 3 pointers or more, our record is 2-7...When we shoot 15 or less, 6-3...
Just wondering....Are we shooting more than 16 3 pointers in those games because we are already getting smoked and trying to "shoot" our way back into ithe game?

I've spent so much time on this thread that it's in my dreams.
I had a dream just before waking up this morning that I was watching Mike Tirico make the announcement that Indiana was in preliminary talks with.......Scott Drew to be the next bb coach.
