  1. I agree. IU is going for a PG in this class it seems. We have Johnson and Phinisee for at most two years and Lander for how many. Need a backup or someone to take over after Lander.
  2. I mean Xavier, OSU, Kansas State, etc. have offered as well. I mean his team beat Moeller who has multiple D1 players this year. I am sure that 35 Indiana kids have teams that think that highly of him. Yet people on here drool over a kid who went away from big basketball to chase a scoring title instead of playing big boy ball and couldn’t beat a team of this caliber. Also, this kid is doing things on the AAU circuit unlike those 35 other Indiana kids. Boards can be so delusional at times.
  3. Dumb take. Painter got Biggie in the best shape of his life and turned him into an inside/outside big which helped turn him into a draft pick. Without that, he would have never been one. When they enter it becomes about them. They need to have the self control which Biggie didn’t have to succeed. How many top 50 players has Painter had? I think four and 75% of them made an NBA roster and the one that didn’t transferred after his frosh year. Purdue has had a couple others as well outside of the top 50. Let’s not be dumb here and think there is some master sauce. It’s about getting talent. Why do you think Calipari gets so many and K does? There is no secret sauce. Get five stars and top 50 kids and the more you get.
  4. Crean’s problem is he went dumpster diving majorly. He compared Priller to a kid who was drafted and played at Nevada. Kids would come in and out due to his recruiting philosophies and he had no continuity. It’s his problem at Georgia as well. Also he lost a lot of AAU and HS coaches which hurts when Indiana should be a good spot. Archie brought in a lot of talent. We only had like two kids outside of the top 150. It was more related to if his system was working with the type of kids he was recruiting. That’s my opinion at least.
  5. You are only criticized when it doesn’t work out. Reality is if you win nobody gives a crap.
  6. Should be a good 150-200 team next year for the early part of the season.
  7. Durr seems like a backup for IU for the rest of his career. Games watched he seems a little slow of foot. Trying to be more of a jump shooter if you look at hoops-math, etc. Good for taking hits, etc.
  8. I see it because I have a Twitter handle I follow who is pretty much in the know of how Crean acts....loves showing his failures. If Crean was never repeated again, I would be fine with it. I am enjoying his failures though. About time his BS got called out.
  9. Your point? Why was he taking the kids that transferred? We got the Prillers and Whatever. Like I said people observe how you treat kids even when they don’t work out. Crean was bad to those kids. Look at his response to the kid who just transferred. Juvenile.
  10. That’s some bullshit. Painter is way more successful than Crean over the long haul. Crean never finished over 5th in the Big East before here. He was a wide swing of success and failures because he pissed off players and AAU coaches. Fischer comes to mind. Vonleh despised him. Sheehey despised him. Zeller and Hulls questioned him. Why do you think he struggled recruiting in Indiana after the 2014 class? The one success in recruiting in 2014 was a kid who never attempted to defend. He did Patterson dirty. We can go on and on and on and on if you want.
  11. Nobody has said he hasn’t develop players. Crean kisses ass to people who help keep his wallet fat. Shocker. The next DWade, the next Oladipo, the next Antman, etc. I know an AAU coach who said this one time. “I tell my kids when they choose a school....look at how the coach treats his best player, his worst players and his walkons....you don’t know which one you will be.” This is Crean’s problem. If you aren’t a top kid, you are dispensable to him. Why do you think he has ALWAYS had trouble with transfers and coaches like Painter doesn’t. People that matter like Painter. People that matter don’t like Crean.
  12. Ask some AAU coaches. I know some that liked him and when kids didnt go his way...he would be a jerk to them. Why do you think He threatened Peegs and others in the media about stories they wrote about him. He has trouble finding assistants when he needs a vacancy because well...assistants talk. Look up what he said to Donovan Mitchell after he committed to Louisville and some Chicago kids committed elsewhere. Crean puts on a good act in the media and public. His bullshit runs thin in the long run with coaches and players.
  13. It’s a Crean issue which is why he had so many transfers here. A lot of ex players talk crap about him when he isn’t around. A lot of AAU coaches know his crap now. He gets made fun of in coaching circles because he whiffs so much on assistants because he is a jerk. Total Crean issue. Any school that hires him will end up running into the same issue.
  14. He is an ahole. Fake. Most AAU and assistants know his BS. Puts on a good show when people are around however when they aren’t on or in public ahole comes out
  15. Kentucky should make the tourney next year. I love Grady. Good player. Add that to the center from WVU and Frederick. They have a lot more offensive fire power. They will add a PG as well.
  16. There was an article last week saying when they update it Bates would be top 35. They haven’t finished the final one yet.
  17. Kaufman at the three will be a disaster for Purdue from a defensive perspective. He can’t guard a three at this level. I think this is going to turn into a Hummel and Martin situation. Furst is a five playing wise offensively right now and question if he can guard fours on the college level. I think it will be Gillis/Kaufman at the four and Williams/Edny/Furst at the five.
  18. Rosemond said Indiana is still talking with one Player in the portal.
  19. I mean Indiana has the second best kid in the state committed for the class at SG. Indiana has Johnson for two season, Lander as a frosh and Phinisee for two seasons as well. It’s not like we have an issue there in PGs. Indiana has Bates for four, Stewart for two, Leal for four and Galloway for Four at the two. PG/small SG wasn’t a need for this class. I don’t see we will see many offers at this position unless someone transfers.
  20. There are two things here. New coaches get leniency with doing this because the kids here or whatever school do not fit what they want. I have a problem with oversigning however I also reserve the right when the new coach gets here to have honest conversations with kids and see how they fit with him. Does the kid a disservice if he thinks he might play and that may not be the intentions. I have seen people getting mad about Brunk leaving and Woodson told him he wouldn’t play much. Essentially saying he got rid of him. He didn’t need to get rid of him. We could go over the scholarship limit and kept him because he didn’t count. Honesty always works best.
  21. @Stlboiler23here is where I will call you out. Now you are getting all dumb on other boards again. Do you understand advanced statistics? I am assuming you don’t just from your comments. Argument 1: Xavier Johnson has a PER of 20.8 Eli Brooks had a 15.7 and Smith had a 13.4 at Michigan Curbelo had an 18 at Illinois Bohannon had a 16 at Iowa Stefanovic had a 15 and Hunter had an 11 at Purdue. CJ Walker had a 15 at OSU This would make him one of the most efficiency PGs in the Big Ten and he played on a crappy team last year. Johnson was great and the TOs were fine because usage was high and he had a high assist % of 42.2% while his TO % was only 20%. For example Curbelo had an assist % of 34.4% and a TO% of 23.7%. Johnson would have started on the majority of the B10 teams because he was better than them statistically. Argument 2: Tony Bennett is going after Franklin for two reasons. Good shooter at low volumes and good packline defender. He needs scorers because he lost his top two only double digit scorers. However at IU he was inefficient with a 14 PER at scoring. His assist % was lower than his turnover percentage. Johnson was better than him as I described above. Arguably as good as defender as well. Stewart is better than him on offense as well with a 19 PER last year when he was hunting shots and firing all over. He also had a higher PER as a frosh at Pitt as Aarman did last year against high major opponents. He won’t be doing that at IU. He will be the sniper that TJD as needed to spread the floor which IU guards have sucked at. We have watched years of open bricks being out up. Stewart beats him on offense but the part he won’t be as good as Franklin will be defense. Bates is a top 25 player on ESPN and will most likely be a top 30-40 on the other site. Those type of kids play and take minutes as well. Aarman was replaceable and could be improved on as shown above. Argument 3: IU really had only three irreplaceable players in my opinion. 1)One is the obvious TJD. He is option 1. 2) Race Thompson as he is a good big. We didn’t need to start playing Duncomb so early or Brunk who is slow and hurt. 3) Stewart - we need the shooting. Big time. The rest of the team is kids that need to be developed. 1) Lander as you mock. Wright failed with a five star PG. Cal has had many five star PG come in early and take time. He is a year early and not all players are created equally. Some take more time and if you looked at the majority of early enrollees...they take a couple seasons. Look at Juzang for one example, played 12 mpg at Kentucky and look what he did at UCLA this year. Majority of these kids aren’t ready because they are a year behind on body maturing and lifting. They take an extra year in most cases. 2) Kopp - have you ever heard of a thing called usage? Do you think Kopp will be used the same way he was used at NW? Do you think we will be running specific plays for him like NW did? No. He will be a complimentary player who will be used to shoot when open. He won’t be shooting 10 shots a game and forcing things. He won’t be needed to do that. Watch a video of how he was used. It won’t be the same. We saw the good in him through his second seasons and the majority of last season. He was a 38% three point shooter until the last three games. In a more specific role he can help out a lot. Geronimo, Leal, Galloway, and Duncomb have time. Historically these type of kids 100-150 take a year or two or even three to contribute. They have time. People just need to let them develop. Phinisee and Hunter. I think everyone would have a point in saying we know what we will get with these. I think it would be best for them in a reduced to no role/transfer. Phinisee has a 9 PER. Hunter doesn’t play much D and I question if he has it. One thing I will agree with people is you tend to talk out of both sides of your mouth. That’s not a good way to go about life. The thing with transfers is you don’t know how they will work out. One of Baylor’s top five scorers was a 3 ppg scorer before transferring and shot 28% from 3. Different situation and different results. Numerous examples of it working out for the better and numerous examples of a PTPer doing nothing or the same thing continuing.
  22. Further evidence people fall for used car salesmen.
  23. Tom Crean is going to have a hard time with the one time free transfer. Players aren’t going to put up with the same crap he has always done.
