Most importantly, can Pope beat Louisville next year?
Can Indiana beat Purdue? Kentucky has the Pope and Indiana has the Dope!

The BOT's and athletic administration wouldn't hire someone like that. They would rather have incompetent, lazy and arrogant former players.

I don't see her leaving IU for just anywhere, but you've got to admit.....Tennessee is a "crown jewel" job in women's basketball.
Maybe she would take the pay raise and say she left because of the money and the way the incompetent men's coach treated her and her very successful program!

This sure sounds like what Indiana basketball used to be.
Pretty sad that when you listen to the two of them talk about their program. Painter knows how to build and program while Woodson has to have donors buy players. It truly shows the level of incompetence that surrounds our program. Hopefully after another crappy year he is sent to the woodshed and we finally get someone who knows what they are doing.

I think it's very easy to make the case Woodson was showing steady progress until this year. I wouldn't call Woodson's first two years Great either, but they were better than what came before. Last season was about as good as we've had post-Knight, excepting only the Sampson years and Crean's two peaks. I had fun, warts and all. This is college, you're always going to have warts. I think what Woodson accomplished his first two years earned him a fourth, even as bad as the third has been. You make it clear this season can't happen again, and then - even if next year is another Good season - if you don't have clear and definitive reasons to think we're back on the track to contention I'm fine cutting loose at that time.
Coaches have bad years, where the roster doesn't come together. Look at Painter's years 8-9. Look at Musselman this year. Or Mick Cronin. Like a player having a sophomore slump, you don't cut a coach loose after one bad season. Even at Indiana, allow coaches an opportunity to learn and grow on the job. Give him a chance to right the ship. If he can't, then you'll know.
That all said, I actually don't think Woodson turns this around, and I don't think he ever delivers Great years. To me the big flashing warning sign is the recruiting. The five-stars are wonderful, but there hasn't been near enough four-star talent brought in to round out the roster and provide continuity. Some of that feels by design, which means it could be correctable, but time is vanishingly short.
I want Woodson to succeed, because he's the head basketball coach at Indiana, and I want Indiana Basketball to succeed. If next year Indiana Basketball succeeds with someone else at the helm, that'll be more than fine by me.
Good coaches have bad years. Woodson is mediocre at best and if it wasn't for his buddies he would never of been hired and certainly would of been fired. Absolute disaster for this program and I can't wait until the mor?? is gone!

Wonder if a Purdue championship would finally wake up the powers that be at Indiana.
You can't fix stupid! The sad thing is Painter wanted to go to Indiana. His family wanted him to go, he was good friends with Pat Knight but Knight couldn't/wouldn't give him a scholarship. He did offer him to be a preferred walk on.
Oh well, what could of been! -

Tennessee is really good on defense with pressure & denying 3’s
Should be quite a battle
Purdue and UConn in the final. UConn has guards that put tremendous pressure on the opponent's plus their center should be able to neutralize Edey somewhat. I picked UConn to win it all, but it will be a battle. Purdue is a complete team, but UConn is a little better and just as deep as the Boiler's.
A great season for them though and absolutely nothing to hang your heads on. Hopefully Indiana gets close to the level of those teams in the 20 years or so.

No, there are a few teams out there that can give them a run.
The announcers are getting carried away with, " Can anyone stop UConn".
It's obvious, that the Iowa State game took it all out of them.
While UConn had it easy against SDSU.
Caitlin Clark and Iowa could beat them! I believe she could part the Red Sea!

PROUD to call them Hoosiers!!
I agree. Man that one three that was taken away on the illegal screen, the two free throws that Holmes missed and the one the Chloe missed were the ball game. They should take the million they gave $*%*% and give to Coach Moren. She deserves it, he deserves a million dollar pay cut.
Edit: please watch the name calling. -blue

Purdue is going to win it all I'm afraid. They're just too strong inside and out.
Indiana should take notes on how to build a program. There is no reason why we can't be Purdue on steroids and be strong every year.
Indiana can take notes but until you have a competent, hard working, enthusiastic, non-self centered proven coach you are wasting your time. Woodson couldn't carry Painter's jock strap. He is a zero on a scale of 1-10.

Congratulations. You were right. You won a miserable '23-'24 basketball season
To be fair. I don't believe anyone was elated about the hire.
Obviously the BOT's and big donors were happy. They have continued to support him!
Thank you and for the record you can keep the basketball season. It was truly one we would all like to forget. At least we have the '24-'25 season to look forward to, which I don't think will be much better!
Also, 6 years ago today Daryl Thomas passed away. One of the truly Hoosier greats and one of my all time favorite players. R.I.P., sir!

My post 3 years ago on Fakebook when I found out they hired Woodson!
Indiana hires Mike Woodson as it's new coach. The dude has never coached college, has never recruited and hasn't won anything plus he is 63 years old.You can't fix stupid when it comes to Indiana basketball. -

I have zero faith in Woodson. He better pull something out of his ass to save next season or he will be gone before January 1st.
I hope he doesn't so we can move on from his incompetence. He has made Indiana the laughing stock of college basketball. Throw in the BOT and you got a double whammy!

How many Indiana kids will be wearing the Blue and Maize?
If Indiana kids want to play college ball they will have to wear other uniforms. Indiana and Woodson doesn't recruit anymore. The portal is where they are going to buy players. Recruiting takes effort, energy, commitment and planning. Something this coaching staff has no clue how to do. Hoosier's are Loser's and it isn't the fans fault one iota.

Yes, those commitments will be the first hits
Since our coaching staff is too lazy and incompetent to recruit high school players it shouldn't hurt us at all. Mr. Excitement and those that support laziness are going to live through the portal. Doing so will allow them to be at home every night and save their energy to throw cash at portal players. As long as the money people continue to throw away cash to support incompetence and the portal program then Indiana will be bottom feeders. Hopefully after a couple of more years those high IQ, rich donors will figure out that you can't build a program with like this, especially with a coach that in my opinion if breathing wasn't automatic would die.
This program is the shithole program of the Big 10 and the fans had nothing to do with it. Ignorant, selfish, self-centered BOT and athletic administrators, as well as big money boosters are the issue. The only thing us fans are guilty of is wasting our time to watch the sewage called Indiana Basketball.
You can't fix stupid but Indiana is proof that the dumb get dumber!- 1

Yes. Warde Manuel hired Howard.
He also fired Howard, something Indiana can't seem to get through their minds that needs to happen. The whole Indiana athletic administration and BOT needs a complete overhaul. In my opinion we need a 40 yard dumpster to get rid of all the garbage that has accumulated.

Too bad we couldn't get Mr. Incompetent to stand next to Edey for about 20 minutes. It might knock some sense into his senseless brain!

I've tuned in to most of the games today. EVERY one of them, both teams played with intensity and energy I haven't seen in years at IU.
Compared to the NCAA teams, we play like we're in the "walk-thru" practice session.
Pitiful.
Just take a look at our Zombie Coach. His energy level is on par with a man in a casket!

its simply being outcoached. Sounds like an issue Indiana has.

Dropped my wife off Sunday in Bland, Virginia to resume her Appalachian Trail Adventure.
She is doing another 150 miles in 10 days. I best be stocking up on Lume because she is going to be pretty ripe when I pick her up.
