  1. As someone that is 6'6", I think there should be a 6'5" (I'm willing to negotiate down to 6'4" but it stops there) or taller requirement for sitting in the emergency row on an airplane. Waivers can be given to the spouses of the tall people if they'd like to sit together.
  2. Youth basketball coaches that full court press. Double pet peeve if you full court press and then fall into a zone defense.
  3. Yeah, you can’t take much from minutes in these preseason games.
  4. I thought his contract was a 2 year deal, meaning this is the last year?
  5. Sure, but I’d much rather see him stick in the NBA with a niche as a rotation player and really carve out a career for himself, as opposed to being a guy that bounces around as an end of bench guy for a few years. The guys in the latter group typically how a shorter shelf life.
  6. Just looking at their roster, I think it might be neutral. It's good that Frank Mason is gone, as they were battling for minutes last year backing up Fox, but they've added Kyle Guy, Corey Joseph and Tyler Ulis. I'm guessing at least one of those three won't make the roster though. It just stinks for Yogi IMO. I know you couldn't foresee the future, but with the Maverick's trading Dennis Smith, Jr to NYC in the Porzingas trade last season, there would have been a big opportunity for him to continue to grow in Dallas. I think he'd be great alongside Doncic as both guys can play on and off the ball and are willing/good passers and shooters.
  7. Nice! I hope Yogi gets more of a shot in Sacramento this year. He was carving out a nice little niche as a promising, young back-up/spot starter point guard in Dallas, then had his minutes cut in half last season with the move to Sacramento. Hope that move doesn't end up being a career-killer for him.
  8. Agree with your last sentence. I debated whether to say 'local' or not. I've actually defended Vonleh on here, so I'm definitely not opposed to going out of the market for a one and done.
  9. Completely agree. I was more just debating the "I don't want any OAD's after the seasons we had in EJ and Langford's years". I also agree with you that injuries are the primary reason IU did not have a better season last year. I've been pretty vocal that IMO if you take away some of the key injuries (Phinisee, Langford, Davis) that IU walks into the NCAA Tournament last year.
  10. I agree with the concept of 'get old, stay old' and building around the types of guys (Phinisee, Leal, Galloway, Geronimo, Hunter, etc.) that Archie is bringing in. I think for IU it's the best way to sustainable success. With that said, I have no problem with IU bringing in the occasional, local one and done player. The biggest problem that Eric Gordon and Romeo Langford had is that they came around at the wrong time for IU basketball. It wasn't a 'them problem' it was an IU problem. Obviously we all know the issues Gordon went through with the Sampson team. That wasn't Eric Gordon's fault. For Langford, he came along in Archie's second season while a system was still being implemented, there was very little leadership on the team and the coach was still cleaning up from what was left him. If you add either Gordon or Langford to good IU teams, with established cultures and leaders on the team, and they'd be excellent additions.
  11. Great quote. I’m hoping with Brunk starting it this year and Geronimo coming in next year, that IU is finally getting back to having some passion and emotion on the floor. There’s certainly a place for the stoic, poised players, but you also need some guys that get everyone to raise their game and get hyped up. For every Zeller and Watford, you need a Sheehey and Oladipo. We haven’t had the latter for several years.
  12. Agree completely. Some may disagree, but I think we know way less about the staff’s recruiting than we think we do. There some definitive posts about who we ‘think’ the staff was prioritizing, but just because someone tweeted it doesn’t make it so. IU clearly wanted Geronimo, even at the risk of Matt Cross. We really have no idea where Cross was on the list.

  14. Agree. Just going off clips, interviews, length, athleticism, his personality, etc., but this kids seems to have that “it factor”.
  15. Same. I love the Leal and Galloway commitments as well as the roster needed an infusion of skill, but it also needs an elite athlete as well. With not really knowing Hunter’s athleticism, there isn’t really an elite athlete wing on the team. Geronimo definitely fills that need. Really excited about this one.

  17. I'd say he is the best PF of all time.
  18. Yes, that's him. He actually missed the flight to Boston for his introductory press conference the morning after being drafted, and has had some other issues with tardiness, etc. Those were the kind of things that caused him to drop in the draft. A lot of people said his talent was lottery worthy, just had to get his head on straight. It was worth the gamble at #27. If he can get things figured out, and as you said Stevens is one of the best to do it, then he could develop similar to Jarrett Allen with Brooklyn, if not even better. Williams has credited Horford and Baynes with helping him last season with maturity, but ultimately the proof with be in the pudding. If he can get his head on straight the sky is the limit for him.
  19. We'll see. The Pacers definitely have a formidable, young, talented frontline with those two. I'm pretty high on Robert Williams, the Celtics first round pick from last season and he performed pretty well in Summer League, but no idea how ready he is for a larger role, then you have the Celtics ability to go small/'positionless' to create matchup problems of their own. Kanter will also provide production, at least offensively. But yes, definitely a downgrade on paper from Horford and Baynes.
  20. I still can't believe he got $110M over 4 years at his age and man it would have been tough to swallow for the Celtics to do that, but at the same time he is SO good and critical to what they do. It's a way bigger loss than Kyrie. He does so many things that aren't in the boxscore.
  21. I was talking about Vincent Poirer, they just officially signed him today. 25 year old, 6-11 center who played in the Euroleage last year.
  22. I don't know how else to phrase it, other than that if you put Kemba on last years Celtics they would have had a better record and potentially would have had homecourt advantage at least through the second round. Is Kyrie the better individual player? Sure. Would Kyrie probably whoop Kemba in a game of one-on-one? Probably. Who would I rather have on my team? At least based on what I saw from Kyrie last season, Kemba in a landslide. Everything you need to know about Kyrie is that Celtics fans would have driven to Kyrie's house to help him pack on his way out of town. P.S. Kudos to KoB and some others who tried to convince of that early last season, but I was too jaded by homerism on the topic, until I watched Kyrie derail the Celtics season.
  23. Chemistry and leadership are pretty important pieces when discussing max contract point guards. Statistically Kyrie is a little better yes, but that is offset by the things he does negatively that impact a team. Kemba will absolutely be an upgrade from what the Celtics got out of Kyrie last season.
  24. Agree on Kemba and on the Celtics draft. I'm super high on what the Celtics did in the draft, relative to where they were selecting. I think Carsen Edwards could potentially be the steal of the draft, Grant Williams is an amazing leader down the line and if he can develop a consistent 3 could be a really, really strong player, and then you Langford who could be sort of another steal. I'm really excited to see how Langford does next season.
