  1. I see it come down to the size of the market. Iowa will take a licking. Indiana still has some marketing benefits but will lose ground to large markets and elite teams. UCLA will have silicon valley supporting the, paying for players. UCLA will be able to offer tv roles, maybe movie roles to players.

I see the near end of amateur college athletics. Many colleges won't be able to compete and will drop out of the NCAA. A new organization will form that will be true amateurs. The NCAA has written its death warrant.

I see cats and dogs living together. Total anarchy and then the eventual collapse of society and sport in general. Recruiting will be the least of our worries when the four horsemen show up at Assembly Hall.

Good question though and I look forward to hearing others thoughts.

  2. Yeap, the Dresden Files.  I have a blast reading those. Good Urban fantasy with some fun thrown in.  Kim Harrison Hollows is also a good fun urban fantasy series.  I read the Jack Reacher series but lately have gone and try to buy the cheap kindle books that have good reviews....you know, the $1.99 ones.

Or I go back and read the older SF.  A.E. Van Vogt, Bradbury, Azimov, Heinlein, Moorcock, Zelazny, H.Beam Piper, Gordon R. Dickson, Frank Herbert, Philip Jose Farmer,  and lots of others.  There are so many good authors that I now just kinda look for low prices.  I am tired of the days where I am paying $25 for a book, especially now that I don't get the physical book, just the electronic ones.

  3. HH seems we may like the same stuff. Are you a Dresden fan?

I know what you mean about the game of thrones...I was a Wheel of Time fan starting at book 3.  Stopped buying them around book 11. Said I wouldn't until he finished the series.  He died before he did!  Frustrating.  Now I pretty much don't buy series unless they are almost done or can be read as single novels.

  4. My undergrad was in telecomm and comparitive literature...I started my masters in comp lit but never finished.  My wife and I combined have almost 30,000 books ( we are downsizing though.). The reason I say this is after reading 1,000's of books my favorite is still The Lord of the Rings. :-).

I remember you!  You were known as Veronica then but I remembrer the "cheating" scandal.  The details are a little fuzzy but I seem to remember a nun, a goat and cans of corn.
