They both sound like they would fit our system and philosophy very well. It would be great to land some studs from a national power like Dematha and have that recruiting pipeline available.

He found joy in telling me that we wouldn't have a HS football season. Couldn't understand why he enjoyed that. 🤷‍♂️

Glad that disruption was removed. Love this board, and we have so many great things to discuss with numerous players deciding to return.

(How the hell do you wish HS football gets canceled?!  Bet he hates his mom and puppies too!)

As a fan I wouldn't like to have to learn your roster every year and not know anything about the players.  I know when I was younger I would know most of the starting lineup of all the top teams in the country and today it takes half the year to know teams roster.

My wife is a UK fan and HATES not knowing the players.  She was never a big Cal fan, and just hoped he wouldn't get them into trouble. Her favorite player was Chuck Hayes because he was a total grinder, and you got to see him develop over 4 years.

I never thought I would see the level of disinterest from her and many lifelong fans I'm seeing now. They want Cal gone now.

Sure it does....but as it relates to his Dad's comments IU players get taken care of long after things are done and over with. Ask Kris Wilkes (minus health) how things are looking with that UCLA brand he was creating. Shoot the guy could come back like Coverdale is and does make well into six figures slinging insurance.

Throughout the state, you will have more career advantages as a former Hoosier player. Not even debatable.

  5. Great article.  How refreshing to hear a young player expressing a desire to play whatever role the team needs, instead of talking about "his game", and how that translates to college.  Could be semantics,  but it seems we're hearing that from all of our incoming players. Can't wait to see how they all develop over the course of their careers.

Pretty incredible that the Jordan documentary could have the effect of inspiring the work ethic of an entire new generation of players. Also interesting to hear a young player refer to Jordan as the GOAT, when they've grown up hearing more about Lebron.

He's leading the state of Ohio in scoring and apparently has a chance to break the all time school record.  Basically is the Ohio equivalent of Luke Brown because he plays at a small school only Sipple is 6'4".

So he's more Jon Diebler than the Jay Burson that Luke appears to currently be, to use an Ohio reference.

Agree. I just find the difference in media outcry funny and hypocritical. I mean last year the media was going crazy about Zion playing and calling out the NCAA, Duke, etc. for taking advantage of college kids, using them to make millions and billions and far worse undertones.

Now with football it's 'hurry up and get back QB #1, Bama needs to win another title'.

Yet another example of selective outrage by ESPN.

Don't know why many think the staff wanted Cross also.  They have two kids in the class that can shoot the ball and have similar skill sets.  Geronimo is the type of athlete that makes a team win, period.  Quick, has length, can jump out of the gym, and has a competitive high motor.  Geronimo was who they went after hard once he was in the picture.  Took a while to get him in the picture because he has just arrived on the scene!

Agree. I think some of the focus with Cross was that extra inch of height and has ability to mix it up inside. With Jordan's length, build, and desire to play defense, I think he can give us everything,  plus more, than Cross could have. Don't see a need for another player in that position.  Give us a point and/or post and move on to 2021.

  9. I think if we're being objective,  we can agree Painter does a good job of recruiting certain types of bigs which will work in his system. They develop into their role, and he has had success in the B1G with that type of player.

This started with the recruit stating Purdue develops bigs for the NBA. That doesn't seem to be the case. He obviously heard that somewhere. Not like Painter is going to tell post recruits he prefers his big men plodding and in the paint.

Whether it is through choice or circumstance,  Purdue hasn't had bigs that have been successful in the NBA.  Wouldn't think it would be too hard for Archie or any other coach competing for a big man with NBA potential to address that fact.

Agreed.  I think it's interesting how he alludes to beginning to believe that maybe the NBA could be in his future, rather than indicating that that goal is his highest priority and that choosing a college isn't just about finding the coach that can get him there.

Good point on NBA focus.  Most of these kids are being sold a bag of NBA lies. Refreshing to hear this kids perspective.

Don't want to put every under the radar athlete into the Oladipo category, but his comments seem like those of a grinder.  Give me a kid that wants to outwork everybody all day.

With the type of player Archie was, I would think he would recruit and attract those kind of grinders with the pitbull mentality. Hopefully we get a couple of these recruits that seem to fit that mold.
