  1. Yeah, a 5 star that a staff member has an absolutely unusual connection to. He didn't just puff up and offer some random kid. Eeesh Outside of that, what's been the story? JMU, some other 3 stars. One kid isn't the rule, from his first whatever days at all, it's been the others. Plus transfer portal.
  2. Just worried about handling pressure on the perimeter the next two games. To counter our lack of 3pt ability, we HAVE to get to the FT line--- we ranked 37th in FTs made per game and 25th in FTs attmepted per game. We shoot 72.9% from the line, outside of Sparks..
  3. Oh it's damn close and it's 100% what he was alluding to. I can give you 10-15 examples of CTA taking "high 3 star" "4 star" guys that basically no one else was recruiting, even though they'd offered by god... them coming here and not being worth a shit. So many examples Some "recruiting expert" dubbed them a 4 star on their meaningless recruiting site. No true scout done of the player, nothing, just a worthless rating.
  4. Elon being a successful program was an interesting tidbit. They were 12-47 before he got there. Coaching staffs everywhere "don't always honor every previous offer", not a reason to knock him. The pc stuff crazy overblown... no one cares. Doesn't have a resume? He has the best resume we've ever hired... he was a 25 year D1 asst before becoming a HC the past 12 years. I'm guessing none of the 3 coaches you mentioned gave a shit who we hired. What CC has said since then isn't a drop in the bucket for them. Again, no one cares but petty IU fans.
  5. We are only ever going to get 2-3 "star" kids. CC basically said that in the presser.
  6. That really isn't informative. We understand it's a different school, literally, than Elon and JMU.
  7. Well there ya go! 3 pathetic defensive plays and CJ made them pay for 2. Both 3s, too.
  8. What CTA kids are you talking about? So what is this place? Whats the approach he's suppose to take? Elon was 12-45 in the last 5 seasons when he took that job.. sound familar? CTA took an incredibly unique approach to coaching D1 football, had the best W/L record we'd had since Mallory, and you guys couldn't stand it. Crean clapped too much, Crean tanned too much, Crean "creaned" too much. Wtf!!! I honestly have not one clue where you could be coming from with any of this?... what makes him "come off as an arrogant blow hard"? So.. you wanted our brand new coach to keep more players that had been a part of 2-10, 4-8, and 3-9? 👍
  9. Just curious, is that where you watch the games on like BTN or whatever?
  10. Did you watch on your laptop? No Roku/Fire stick?
  11. Yeah and before last night he was 2-28 from 3 in college and hit 2/3.. 🤷‍♂️ I'm saying... it's an above average look for a D1 player.. If CJ Gunn is ever going to consistently help us, he should be shooting that shot 100/100. I loved the aggressiveness. Shot selection doesn't bother me the way it does some.
  12. Guess we'll agree to disagree. That's ok.
  13. I've never been a fan of how much elevation he gets. I feel its hard to be consistent. Maybe in the lane he can do it more.
  14. The shot 11:39 in the 1st half? That's the only mid range jumper I remember him taking. I guess I am confused why that's considered a crazy shot when you're this open..
  15. Secondary transition. Got his feet set, ready to go on the wing and let it fly. Minimal jumping.
  16. 3 games he was healthy? I am having a hard time find the parallel between the shot attempt amounts you're mentioning and him forcing things. Per 40 mins he is 8th in shot attempts per game. I do think there is something to "he isn't always finding the right times to be aggressive" I can get down with that. BUT--- he was shooting 5 FTs per game at an 80% clip, that alone has substantial value. Can it not just be explained that he sat out 9 months, has to adjust to completely new teammates, and then now got injured againt to hault that progress? I guess I don't really even understand why we're discussing XJ. Our team is playing really well. Mike Woodson will get XJ, if he can get healthy, into a spot where he is helping our team. He's already shown the ability to do that. Sidenote--- XJ is a 39% 3pt shooter during his time at IU. Thought that was interesting.
