That’s all terrible and I’m so sorry to hear of all of that.

But do we have to gaslight what today’s youth has gone through? It’s definitely different, but there are aspects for kids today that are harder than what generations before them growing up had to deal with. I’m going to hold off on giving examples because I don’t want this to turn political…

I’m not even sure how a discussion of which generation has dealt with more is even relevant to the topic at hand.

For your sake, I hope you're just being sarcastic.

So according to the article if you are unvaccinated, you have a .19% chance of being hospitalized.  I have high blood pressure and am more concerned with side effects.

What I have read is that it is important to get the vaccine if you have high blood pressure. Your doctor should be able to advise you on whether YOU should get it or not.

Honest question about the reduction in Covid numbers.

How much of the reduction in numbers has to do with vaccinations versus how much has to do with the warmer weather?  Doesn't it make sense that it is a combination of both?

I ask because I think a segment of the society is becoming complacent about getting vaccinated because they see declining cases and figure the risk is going away.  Unfortunately, as a nation, we are going to struggle to reach 50% vaccinated, let alone the 75%-80% estimated to reach heard immunity.

So, when the weather starts changing again in the fall, are we going to see a significant new spike?  I think we will.  It won't be as large as what we had last winter, but we're going to be looking at new restrictions over the holidays again.  I truly expect that to happen.

With the success of vaccines for smallpox, polio, etc., I'm surprised there is as much reluctance to this vaccine as there is.

Is it warmer in India, or colder?

Here is some math to support the above point.  I found stats for the last 90 days in Indiana.

There are currently 12,950 total deaths reported in Indiana attributed to Covid.  1,244 have occurred in the last 90 days, meaning 11,706 had occurred prior to February 4th.

So, taking 5.2% of total deaths as of today means approximately 673 Hoosiers between the ages of 50-59 have died of Covid.  Compare that to 4.9% of the 11,706 deaths prior to February 4th, which calculates to 574.

So, there have been approximately 99 new deaths in the 50-59 date range in the last 90 days from a total death pool of 1,244.  That calculates to 7.95% of deaths in Indiana since Feb 4th have fallen in the 50-59 age range.

I consider 4.9% prior to Feb 4th compared to 7.95% after February 4th to be significant.  The main change to the environment since that time has been the vaccine, and the 50-59 age group lags behind the 60+ age group in getting vaccinated.

    That can't be a coincidence.

They told me no math would be involved! 😭

Long time lurker, 1st time post.  Honesty up front. I am a Purdue fan, wife IU fan.  I can root for either team when not playing each other.  Been following this board for a long time just to keep up with the sport and such.  Anyway, back to original topic.  I was diagnosed with Covid back around Thanksgiving. Needless to say it has been he!! ever since. My symptoms consisted of rapid pulse and high blood pressure, dizziness, balance issues, and lower body fatigue in both legs. Almost felt like I was walking through 3' of snow or heavy mud for miles. I was in bed for 6 weeks but never did have shortness of breath, fever, or any kind of body aches.  To this day I still have trouble with fatigue and balance issues. I have had basically every test out there, from MRI of brain to CT scans, to bloodwork, to echo of heart and so on.  Everything has come back normal for my age, 46.  PreCovid I was on a minimal dose of BP medicine and was active and felt great.  I am doing Physical Therapy twice a week to try and "train" my brain back with my eyes for balance and whatever else.  I still do not know what to think about the whole virus thing.  My wife got it at the same time and barely had sniffles for 2 days and was perfectly fine.  Me, I am still having issues 5-6 months later with no answers in sight.  I have missed a bunch of my daughters High School sports these past few months and it really wears on me.  Long story short, I have no clue what to think about the vaccine, the virus, and everything else the experts talk about, but I do know one thing, I basically had a life changing illness that has affected my life.  Sorry for 1st long post, but it has sucked!!!!

Thank you for sharing your story! Hopefully some of those who are reluctant to get vaccinated will read it and get the vaccine.

I don’t think the new CDC guidance around masks outdoors is helping things. How will outdoor restaurants know who’s been vaccinated? They really can’t or won’t. So anti-maskers will just claim that they are fully-vaccinated and the servers will be exposed to them. We’ve come so far with vaccinations, but just not there yet.

The servers SHOULD be vaccinated... Everywhere

Indy is getting ready to have 200,000 for the 500. Dolson said the tailgate fields and stands will be open for football. A new prez at IU who loves sports!!!!!!!!. Shouldn't be a problem. Finding cheap tickets anymore will be.

Anyone who has been vaccinated SHOULD get a hefty discount!
