They got incredibly lucky with that title run, more so than an average title run, but yes, they did win the title. With a series of improbable finishes and terrible calls all breaking their way.

Give me an “incredibly lucky” national championship any day of the week. It’s called “March MADNESS” after all...

My point was their team drowned out the haters and stuck together during this adversity and the following season turned out as good as you could have asked for.

Yes, the booing was just dumb and unnecessary on so many levels but if that was a major decision in AF leaving then he may need to educate himself more on fanbases across the entire CBB landscape...

I think it was all of the Booos AF heard after the last game as players were leaving the floor.....

Well AF was entertaining offers from U of I and Louisville and you can ask Kofi Cockburn and Jordan Nwora how cruel their fans were during March Madness.

Heck, he can ask former UVA players what it was like after getting embarrassed by UMBC. Oh wait, they only went out and said forget the haters and won the national title the very next year...

Is there still considerable smoke around Brooks?

FWIW, fairly certain this guy has a really good relationship with the Brooks family. He even has his pinned tweet as his interview with Keion when he was going to UK.

This dude also said hours before the announcement that Hunter struck again so must have an idea of what’s going on behind the scenes.

Isn't this where we give the obligatory "it will work itself out"?

LOL, knew someone would say that 😂.

just wondering if it’s possible to keep our roster and add Brooks/Johnson or if that would make us over signed.

But yes, I do agree that it will work itself out when there’s a projected 1,500+ transfers this year and Hunter/Fife as our recruiters.

    Lander just a guess

I think Lander stays. Aside from social media related IU support, he came to IU to play with TJD and the schools that reached out to him were extremely underwhelming IMO.

I don’t see Brooks coming here but I’ll gladly take a talent upgrade/anyone who wants to come play for Indiana. Especially if Race and Geronimo take their talents elsewhere.

I bet if you asked every Athletic Director of a Power 5 program if they would take Thad Matta in a consultant role if they could get him for $400,000 a year, virtually every one would take you up on the offer.  Really no need to try to understand it beyond beyond that.  Dolson thought outside the box and made a brilliant tactical move.

Not to mention, Matta was being considered for the Head coach role at Georgia, Wichita St, and even UCLA. Glad to have him around.

  7. I’ll start by saying I share the disappointment in the hire. I think we could have found a way to land a more proven coach in the CBB realm. But for all I know, Dolson tried his best to land a Stevens/Drew/Beard/Muss like we all wanted but they all said thanks no thanks. Let’s keep it real, the IU job is not for everyone and unless you’re offering Cal/Coach K $, probably weren’t going to land a coach we’d consider a “home run.”

We will likely never know how high/low on that list Woodson was. But what I do know is that it wasn’t my $10 mill being spent and I didn’t have to waste time/energy doing the search.

What needs to be addressed though, is that some of you really need to take some time away from IU basketball. There’s as many reasons to get behind Woodson as there are reasons to ridicule, and it’s your choice on which path you take. For all the love and passion you have towards IU basketball, maybe use that in a healthy manner by supporting a man who not only helped build IU to what it is today but also WANTS THIS JOB (which isn’t easy to come by, clearly).

What’s done is done my friends. If you don’t want to support IU basketball because you aren’t emotionally mature enough to handle patience and inconsistencies, please feel free to spend your time and money on a BTN Plus subscription and you can watch all the 76’ Hoosier games on a loop.

What’s the big deal. We have plenty of scholarships. He can transfer right back out if it doesn’t work out. I mean obviously he has to want to play basketball but it isn’t like he is going to eat a scholarship for 4 years.

There’s also what, like 700 transfers per year nowadays? I like his style of play for sure and think it would be a great fit for us but 6 schools in 6 years doesn’t scream this kid is willing to trust the process with a program.

To quote the Miami Herald, Miami’s coach let him go since “he had trouble getting through to Cross, had confidence issues and became detached when he wasn’t playing well.”

Im sorry but that just doesn’t excite me, I want kids with grit and fortitude.

If Archie hadn’t recruited him so heavily and you heard that quote, would you want the staff to jump into the mix or explore the field instead?

  9. I can’t speak to the recruiting process cuz I never went through it lol but my gut tells me the coaching staff is aware of him jumping around from school to school (they likely ask coaches what these kids are like on and off the court, no?)

If it was something so bad, I feel like you’d be able to look up a police report...haven’t found anything of the such and sounds like Miami is a dumpster fire rn and morale is at an all time low.

From a style/fit side, I’d have to look up the interview but I think the reason he picked Miami was that other teams were looking for him to play P.F. but he prefers to play SF. I’m hoping that Archie can convince him he’s that ideal hybrid forward we need to stretch the floor.
