So essentially we should switch to using Vegas point spreads for results. In NET world some wins aren’t actually wins and some losses aren’t actually losses anymore?

We are a different team over the last month. An 18 win MSU team shouldn’t get in over us if we end up having 20-21 wins and a head to head win against them. Same goes for OSU and Iowa.

Have you heard anything to support this or just a thought? No need for specifics but just looking for any kind of hope right now.

Lol. No matter how “nice” Purdue fans and posters are, it always eventually comes back to this, doesn’t it?
Just for the record—and I can’t speak for the younger generations—those of us my age (pushing 60) and older are not jealous. I’ve seen IU win 3 championships and go to 5 Final Fours (I don’t remember the ‘73 Final Four). For those too young to have witnessed those, maybe there is some jealousy. Only they know.
But the thing for us older folks, we understand that even elite programs have down periods. Kansas stunk when I was a kid until Larry Brown brought them back. Alabama football was down for quite a while. UCLA basketball. It happens.
No doubt, Purdue is really good this year. Better than last year. They could win it all. But they entered this season with only two consecutive 20-win seasons, just like us. But one would never guess that from all the talk. When you have 50 years of college basketball in your memory bank, the past couple years seem like 5 minutes. It doesn’t really move the needle, as folks here like to say.
To me, the comparison to Alabama football is instructive. Alabama went through many coaches over a couple decades. Auburn, their rival, got to talk some smack for a while. They even won a title. I think we all know when Indiana decides to pull its head out of its hind-end like Alabama eventually did, things will be back to close to the way they were. And I bet when that happens, Purdue is going to realize what an opportunity they missed. Because at least Auburn won a championship.
I’ll add my two favorite Purdue facts: men’s basketball has been to the final game around the same time IU football played in the Rose Bowl.
our former coach who lost 25ish games to start the season has more tournament success at IU then Purdue in 60 years.

Eh, I don’t think the officiating is targeting IU in particular. I just think they’re incompetent.
I’d tend to believe that if it weren’t a recurring theme. It seems to benefit the same teams over and over. Has Edey fouled out of more than a handful of games (or even been in foul trouble)?

The thing is. This officiating shitshow has been a big ol issue for years. But the suits in big ten HQ continue to stick their head in their hiney and pretend like the officials are not the problem.
Then when March madness comes around they wonder why the big 10 continues to suck in the tournament despite the issue being apparent to my blind neighborthen
It isn’t accidental. There are narratives being pushed. We don’t have any pull and the conference is ok keeping us down. We will all still watch IU even while being screwed. Our fan base and ratings are taken advantage of for the good of every other team in the conference

Leaving Assembly now. Officiating cost us the game. That’s just the reality of the situation. Play like that at home and bring the same energy we did tonight and we shouldn’t lose any here in the conference.
Galloway was absolutely phenomenal. I would’ve loved to have seen what happens if he hits that three to put us up 1 at the end. The roof would have came off the place. Wish we would’ve ran more stuff to get Mgbako shots - I would have brought him in a lot sooner at the end even though he had 4 fouls. Heartbreaking loss for sure but I am optimistic for the rest of the year.
We all KNOW what would have happened if Trey hits the shot to put us up. Kansas would be shooting free throws

I’m not going to argue…the three most impressive wins this season were by Texas, Alabama, and Michigan. IMO Washington resume and eye test wins out over FSU minus Travis. I guess that’s my take if I was in that room.
I’m not trying to argue just enjoying the discussion. I don’t envy the committee. Georgia could still make a case too.

Who has Ohio St beaten? Penn st and Notre Dame? Hardly a compelling arguement.
Only loss however is to the team who will be number 1 on the road by a close margin.

I may have misinterpreted it. Either way, once we have a new coach with an established system we can address the portal entrees. Generally we have made good portal gains under CTA and hopefully the new coach can continue the trend.

I disagree with this. I’d imagine several are keeping options open in light of the coaching change that would have stayed if Allen were retained. Logic says enter, speak with new coach, decide on us if there is mutual interest or another school.

He isn’t getting bought out this year. Way too expensive. Rather use the money saved for buying the best Coach money can. If the offense continues like this the rest of the year just maybe next year we could get to a bowl. What’s one more year going to hurt.
Get to a bowl next year and we are stuck with him even longer.

Allen will be let go after the season. No way the University keeps him. The hat is out to help with the buyout. Pay next year’s salary(on the hook if we keep him) and pay the 12.5 million anyway. To many musical chairs.
Is this speculation or have you heard something?

This would exceed their best B10 conference record by three wins and would be the second most season wins in school history.
Love how the author can’t fathom them beating Mississippi St and Wake Forest but has them sweeping several Big Ten schools.

So I for some reason thought reading Jay Bilas's X account would be a good idea... sadly, I was wrong... here's Jay's take on the Top 5 rivalries in college basketball...
I took a screenshot while the video was playing, and while I didn't try to get him while his eyes were closed, the karma is undeniable
Now anyone who's sane and wouldn't have bet everything they own on the first one has either never watched a minute of Bilas commentary or is misinformed 🙂
Xavier-Cincinnati?
Illinois -Mizzou?
ST MARYS-GONZAGA?
Really Jay? He says at the start it isn't about rabid fan bases, but more a game that "draws everybody in."
Well, Jay, if I were a betting man, I'd wager that Indiana-Purdue, both games, outdrew every matchup beyond the first one...
Wanna bet?
The thing to understand is that a lot of the espn media types have essentially become trolls for clicks and attention and likely don’t believe what they are saying. Leaving an IU or Kansas school out is begging for attention

Assuming the win next week we are at 2. Games vs Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, Illinois, Michigan St are the way to 6 assuming we don't pull off a big upset. Maybe I should add a home game vs Sconny too.
Though it is unlikely anyways, we are almost to the stage that making it to 6 wins will set the program back another 5 years. Probably get us an extension with Allen. That is why the football team can’t get any support. It is counterintuitive. The bar is set so low that just being mediocre without any consistent long term improvement is accepted and rewarded. And we still can’t consistently clear it.

Embarrassing. Losing games we should win is a staple of IU football. The most disappointing thing is now with the transfer portal, the only constant are the coaching staffs. Lots to look forward to for a few more years

From the Purdue board regarding Kanon:
Last week, Catchings indicated to Purdue that he intended to re-open his recruitment. He did so suddenly and by himself outside of his family and coaches knowledge. It did not go over well with his family and coaches, who have been strongly in purdues corner, and remain so to this day. Since then, conversations between Purdue and the player and the family have been normal. Purdue will have an in-home visit with him Friday. Catchings is a very introverted kid. He’s starting to come out of his shell a little bit.l and does have a bit of an edge to him. He just returned from USA basketball crawling with NBA people, agents and shoe company people. He knocked everyone’s socks off there, per reports. As soon as his ranking spiked people, all kinds of people, were there hounding him….getting in his head. That’s the deal: people Chase the ranking when you have it. There’s nothing illegal about other schools contacting Catchings, but the family appreciates the fact that Painter believed in him early and nobody else did. Catching himself was pissed that nobody else offered him. Including Indiana.
Pretty sad that the kid has to be coerced by his family and coaches to go somewhere he apparently doesn’t want to.
