Race could have easily made 3rd team not just honorable mention. Total hose job
not sure how XJ doesn’t get on all defensive team either

IU , Michigan and Rutgers will all need to win one or two games to feel good about there chances. None can afford to loose to a none tournament team. Good news for IU and Michigan a win will look good and be a blow to the loser
-
In the first game Michigan played really well. IU not so much
not sure either Dickerson or Houston will be that hot again
kopp and steward will need to knock down some shoots. A win is totally possible.
like BGleas said run the PNR and make Dickerson cover. Johnson is the quickest guy in both teams. Get Tracye the ball away from basket and let him face up and drive by Dickerson. Race is stronger than Diabte. Need Stewart and Kopp to knock down a few open looks

Nail in our coffin!
Why?
I would rather play Wisconsin but the Illini are very beatable. Get kofi in foul trouble. Force them in tough 3s. They do make several of those. No reason to think IU can’t beat them.

Agreed. If I had my preference, it would probably be for Race to return, since he's able to open the offense a little more with his (improving) outside shooting, but losing both would be pretty rough for our interior defense and rebounding.
The defensive end will hurt the worse loosing both. A guard heavy offensive will open up driving lanes. Geronimo can score 10 to 12 points on good cuts off of drives and offensive rebounds

I don't think it really matters - we aren't competing with Rutgers for one spot.
IU just needs to win more games the rest of the way.
We need teams like Michigan Florida Iowa state to loose to name a few. These are the teams we are competing for a spot with

Iona is 22-5, will dance and would spank IU today. Tell me the difference a coach makes and how long it takes to build and how many pros it takes etc.
The schedule makes a difference too
pinto is a top level coach for sure. That makes a difference for sure. Pinto doesn’t make shots
this team need a a couple of scores that can score and multiple levels. All of our players are 1 dimensional.
love how hard we play. Just need a few guys that hunt their shot

I didn't see it as all forcing the ball inside and saw way more guys coming off screens. With him being our best player you need to play through him and that is how we got the lead. That kickout to Tamar and the 3 he hit to put us up 4.
We moved the ball very good most of the night. But we get caught trying to pound in late in the game.
Really liked Tamar, steward and even Kopp being aggressive and hunting shots. They missed several but the offense looks Breyer when other guys are trying to get open and make plays.

After watching all the clips I could find. Gard, UW assistant and Davidson, 3 games suspension. Howard at minimum 10 games gone, should be fired. A few UM players gone 3 or more games, a few UW players gone 3 or more games.
That sounds about right
not sure that Gard and his assistant should get more than 1 or 2 games. Players probably the same. Howard needs at least 5 or the rest of the year. UM president should sit him the rest of the season
Davidson is dirty and should be suspended.
-
Both coaches were probably out of line
howard for pressing with 16 seconds left hard for calling time out If your pressing with 15 seconds left in a game that is over don’t get pissed when the other coach calls a timeout
Howard acted like a baby not going thru the handshake line. Gard didn’t need to say anything to him. But once the pointing and shouting start that should be it
It is never ok to take swing. NEVER. Howard needs a heavy suspension. Totally his fault for taking swing provoked or not. That is on him no one else

I think that helps, assuming Hood-Schifino is the real deal right away and continued improvement from Bates, Galloway and Geronimo.
I think Woodson will still need to hit the portal for an experienced wing that can shoot but also handle/penetrate, and then assuming TJD leaves we'll need an athletic big that can rebound, defend, run the floor and be effective in the PnR game.
We don't need a big to replace TJD offensively. My hope is that we'll be much improved at the wings and guards, so we'd almost be restructuring, as in not playing through the post.
Switching the offense to more perimeter oriented style will help the flow. No need to replace trayce with a big that can score. Just get a big that can. Defend and rebound.

Because of the people who were guarding him. It was down right comedy to see Kopp guarding him. I thought I was seeing things.
Davis was forced into tough shots all night. He made them. He had to work to get his shot up.
This game came down to them hitting tough shots. Fade always with a hand in the face. Driving in and shooting over multiple guys. Jump shots on the move. IU wide up shots missed. That was the problem

Race & Trayce were 15-21 from the field. The rest of the team was 10-40. So, so pathetic.
Need shooters and a couple of scores

Maybe because he's not running the floor any more. I noticed that too. He walks, or sometimes trots up the floor rather than hustling back.
I think he is getting tired. The bigger centers and double teaming is wearing him out. He gets slower as each half progress

Part of the reason that this works against us so often is that Trayce does not hustle when it happens and instead just tries to time it so that he can get a block.
Trayce used to hustle back and wall up and force a tough shoot. The last few games he is trying to block everything from behind.

Parker and Kopp playing good position D. They can can beat by foot speed but both give good effort. Parker is big guy and when he plays physical he can give guys a hard time. It helps both that Davis and Thompson have been good at forcing tough shots when the guards get beat. Neither are all conference defenders but not bad either.

Squarely on the bubble.
We are on the bubble if we loose to whisky. If we win we are clearly in. Win any 4 of the remaining games and we are in. Win 3 and we might need one in the big ten tournament.
The whisky and Rutgers games will go a long way on selection Sunday.
Trayce and Race have clear advantage inside over those teams. Mommy and Maryland we have already proved we can win both of those
XJ playing much better now than he did the first time as whisky. This team has its flaws but still is position to get to the dance. No reason to panic just yet
