I think we need multiple guys who can create and shoot. That’s like #1-3 or 4 on the list.

I just got an alert that Chip Kelly was leaving the position of HC at UCLA to be the OC at Ohio St. They just poached a head coach from within conference (I know it's not official until summer, but still) to be a coordinator. Wow. OSU doesn't screw around when it comes to winning in football.

This. I love going after the tippy top guys, but we have to find those guys who will definitely help us even if they aren’t at the top of the recruiting rankings. It feels like we have focused too much on the former and not enough on the latter.

Speaking of Wilson, did you all see the video of him reading his text exchange with a recruit over NIL?

I’m a turn one guy, but there are advantages and disadvantages for every spot. Try to get somewhere high.

I read after I posted originally that both guys they got have expiring contracts as well.

I didn't expect a lot in return, but gee whiz that was underwhelming.

I get that, but it would be nice to bring in some freshmen every year to bring along so we are looking at 2-3 guys from the portal every year instead of 5-7.

Why not?

He and Queen are the only two guys we have threads for in the recruiting forum that are 24 kids. That doesn’t mean there aren’t or won’t be more, but as of now it’s looking like portal or bust. It would be nice to bring in a guy like this for the future and for balance.

This seems like one of the hardest things to gauge as fans. We can watch players play, we can see style of play etc. with coaches, but what do we really see with the rest of the staff? One thing I liked about Crean's staff was that he had a couple of guys there in McClain and Buckley who had previous head coaching experience. I can't really put my finger on why, maybe it's what I just typed above, but I'm okay with Woody coming back next year in spite of my frustrations, but I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of new faces sitting next to him. The thing is though, I don't know when a good time to make a change would. We have to be ready to hit the ground running in portal season as soon as it opens and that is right after the season. Do we have enough time to adjust there and still be out there to get our first pick of portal players? To me that's the catch 22 of staff changes this year.

I hate the long breaks in conference season. I like to keep momentum rolling, or have a short time to get back at it after a bad loss. It was great for them to have a short turnaround after last Saturday.
