So you dont like the hire but you want IU to cheat to win. Welcome to being the first person i put on ignore, because what you could say from here is meaningless. GOOD BYE

Wonderful, another fan with a binary, archaic way of looking at things.

No one is talking about dropping unmarked bags of cash off on a recruit's doorstep, or having someone take a college entrance exam for a recruit.

I'm referring to finding ways to operate in a way that isn't outright cheating, but in an area the NCAA clearly doesn't care to police or even monitor.

You know, what probably 90% of Power 5 schools are doing.

Before you knock it and act all holier than thou, I can all but guarantee Mike Woodson wants to operate in this gray area too.

I guarantee just as a basketball coach and the X and O's of the game Woodson is far superior to any of these college coaches you talk about

Come on, there is no way you can guarantee that so don't even bother.

You sound a lot like Notre Dame fans talking about Charlie Weis when he was hired, how he was learning under some of the best minds in football and was going to out-scheme anyone they played. We all know how that turned out.

None of those guys are remotely as credentialed as Woodson. Not close.

They are the hot new names. Woodson has proven it for decades.

And yeah, it does make me a little mad when people take shots at a guy that walked away from the NBA because IU is home, and this is his dream.

What has he proven? His career winning % as a head coach is around 45%. He's never coached in college, nor recruited a college athlete. He hasn't been a head coach in 6 years.

If he's so "proven" as you suggest, how come no one else hired him to be their head coach since the Knicks hired someone to replace him?

Sorry, but just because this is someone's dream job doesn't make them uniquely qualified for it. Nor does it ensure success.

It sounds like he'll have support from the administration, but where he could use real support is if they backed off a little and let him and his staff work the gray area in recruiting. To me, if we're still not willing to go there then it won't matter very much who the coach is.

How in the world can people think this. He has a stellar reputation across the NBA. The toughest league in the world. How does a guy revered at the highest level, with a proven track record ever be considered the drunk fat chick.

Mike Woodson is an elite level coach that loves IU as much, if not more, than we do. And we are gonna bash him like this?

I dont get some of you.

You mad bro? Calm down, it's called an analogy.

After going for the hire everyone wants in Brad Stevens, Dolson went right for the safest, surest thing he could find without going after some other options first like Chris Beard, Musselman, Oats, etc.

I'll support the guy, but I'm also really trying to get excited about it.

That's why I'm so disappointed, it seems to me that IU never even tried for the big fish. It feels like it went from Stevens right to Woodson.

Scott Dolson was at the bar, went right for the hottest girl there, got rejected then went straight for the drunk fat chick.

Shot clock needs to go back to 45 seconds.  With the college game getting younger the players can't play the NBA style of basketball.

I kind of agree. A shortened shot clock means there is less time to run a good play or get into your offensive set, so teams will start jacking more 3s than they already do.

Watching the Purdue game.  One rule that I wish college would adopt is getting the ball at halfcourt after a timeout at the end of the game.

That is one rule I hope never makes it to college basketball, along with the 24 second shot clock.

It just doesn't make any sense at all.

    Did we have a connection?

We were recruiting him at one point, I believe mentioned in his top 10 at least.

He's originally from Pennsylvania, so perhaps Archie has a connection there.

He's still not in the transfer portal, but Huggins did say he won't be back this season.  So maybe transferring is inevitable.

  9. Yeah I probably won't watch us play Iowa.

I get the feeling we'll be playing well and leading going into the final minute, then Bohannon will hit three contested 3's late to win it.

My wife still remembers the time a water bottle got thrown across our living room in frustration when he last played against us in Iowa City.

  10. That lifetime contract UK gave Cal could come back to haunt them in a major way.

Even if Cal is not the head coach, any incoming coach knows he'd be living in Cal's shadow and the program would never truly be his own.  A new coach would have to deal with an athletic director as his boss, plus Cal as a de facto boss.

Kentucky needs to get over themselves.  Not many big names would sign up for that.

Unless you are coaching the South Central Louisiana State Mud Dogs or Texas State Armadilos.....or even worse, Purdue;  wouldnt you think a coach would want his son to play for him??

Mike Miller probably isn't planning on being an assistant coach at Memphis for long. Just my opinion.

  12. I hadn't really followed too much about Jordan and his recruitment so I didn't really know anything about him, but the more I read the more I like.

Seems like he'll be a great fit, and I love how he's got the athleticism this team has been missing ever since Troy left.

Of the remaining targets, I'm not sure who I'd pick now.  I really, really like Cross but I think Garcia may be the better option.  Garcia has the potential to be a special player.
