True, which makes it kind of confusing to me that he mostly just acts like a closer in recruiting and makes his assistants do almost all of the contact. It seems like he should be talking to them more than he does and earlier in the process to build up relationships. He's obviously good at that with his players.

I'm sure he is involved in more of the process than you think. That's a must in today's recruiting.

I have said it before on here. My good friend and long time minister Tom Rust  ,was IU mens basketball  chaplain, told me the Mike is as fine of a person he ever met. Mike led several players to Christ not because he preached to him but they saw something in Mike that was special and they wanted it too.

Thanks for sharing that. Very cool.

  3. I always liked Fife and was thrilled when he came back to IU. I loved his interviews and having met him a couple times he was always very cool. But if he wasn't a good fit, then so be it. I've worked in environments that weren't a good fit and I was thrilled when I finally left those situations and I'm sure that's the case here.

I understand the hand wringing to a degree, but would you really care if he wasn't from IU? I have no inside info but watching him on the bench this year, he was not overly involved in any aspect.

I wish him the absolute best and will be rooting for him wherever he goes.

B1G up 2-0. Looks like no worse than a split tonight to me. Really hard to gauge some of these other match-ups but will be surprised if it the conference doesn't take this thing rather handily.

It will be interesting to see how it shakes out. I have no clue how to gauge Minnesota/Pittsburgh, Northwestern/Wake Forest, and Clemson/Rutgers games. They all seem like they could go either way. Same for IU if I am honest.

  5. I don't understand the hand wringing about "injuries". We have no idea of the extent or seriousness of any of these "injuries". They could just be normal nagging things that plaque teams and Coach Woodson wants to be sure that everyone is 100% for the start of the season. And if that means cancelling a meaningless scrimmage, then so be it. I'm sure this coaching staff knows what they are doing. And I am sure if there was any suspicion that the Strength and Conditioning coach was causing excess injuries to a team that he would be gone in a heartbeat.

I'm ready to see the Candy Stripes

I'm ready to see Woody on the sidelines

I'm ready to hear Don Fischer on the radio

I'm ready for the William Tell Overture

I'm ready to see the banners hanging in the rafters

I'm ready to pick a 'favorite' player, like I do every year

I'm ready to watch IU games on the tv in the man cave with my son

I'm ready to hear Gus Johnson refer to Assembly Hall the 'Carnegie Hall' of college hoops

I'm ready for the number on IU's side of the scoreboard to be bigger than the one on the opponent's side

I'm ready for Assembly Hall to literally shake during the Purdue game

I'm more ready for IU hoops than I have been in a long time

    100% agree with everything.

I'm ready to look forward to games again

I'm ready to look forward to watching all games in the season. The last few years, I just simply quit watching. It became to painful and irritating to watch.

Correct me if im wrong, but didnt somebody on here say Franklin was taking part in team activities?  If he was leaving, or even talking/meeting with other teams, it wouldnt make sense for him to still be working out with our team would it?

I definitely hope that he returns, but I wouldn't take too much stock in this. I remember when Archie took over after Crean was fired, OG and Blackmon participated in team activities with Archie even though both ended up leaving. Not exactly the same thing since they were going pro and not transferring, but it makes me not read too much into it.

For those worried about recruiting... stop, it’s a waste of time. Woodson can and will use his NBA connections and experience. Woody will likely have some battles trying to win guys over from K, Izzo, Williams, Self etc. However, if getting guys into the league is of concern, then many of your up and comers can’t claim that. Who and how many has Oats, Beard and Muss put in the league? That’s a battle for them too. Now, I’m certainly not taking anything away from their abilities to coach the game, but just stating the fact that recruits don’t always reference how many players you put into the league... otherwise Cal would land the top kids every year. In fact, kids usually don’t have as much say in where they’re going, or at least not as much as what we’d all like to think. I expect Woody to land some top tier kids based on who he knows. What he does with them will directly impact his recruiting after that... just my thoughts.

Worry is what drives most of the posters on this board. The sky is always falling.

Nothing really noteworthy...Woodson did say the transfer stuff is a 2 way street, and evaluations will be made...

I see what you mean about Dakich though...The very guys he runs down (national sportswriters) for putting out click bait articles, he does with his mouth...And running down good kids like Anthony Leal simply because Anthony sent a tweet encouraged by the hire is being a jackass...

Why did he have a problem with Leal's tweet? Just curious.
