Haha but is it popular with the college girls or something?
It’s just one of the more popular and semi iconic bars.
Nicks, Kilroys, upstairs, blue bird, the vid, etc are all more locally owned (at least originally) and synonymous with IU.
upstairs is basically across the street from Nicks.

Having worked with some mold polishers that put mirror finishes on steel, in order to maintain a flat surface you have to work in a crisscross pattern. Just saying.🤷🏼♂️
That’s not how sanding wood floors works; it’s also not the same tolerance of flatness that smaller metal surfaces or machine work requires

What is upstairs?
You call yourself a fan!? Jk
(seriously though, it’s a bar on kirkwood on the second floor above some restaurants, hence the name)

Look. I guess I'll say this as politely as possible. Your other comrade is ok..but the way you talk is amateur hour. Take a break or stop posting. I've never once thought about muting a person on a board but man....either step away from the board or the booze.
PS...speaking on the subject of academics. Every single kid I know at Carmel enters their freshman year at IU with at leat 18 credits....likely 24. Getting a BS and MBA inside of 5 years isn't some academic genius.
Good luck to you but I hope the other board members chooser to ignore.
Not only that, but let’s not pretend that basketball and football players’ academic experience is in any way relatable to your average student’s experience. So much extra help and so many more resources that an average student doesn’t have.
I’m generalizing for sure as there are plenty of athletes that move on into very successful non athletic professions, but this is a weak message board argument.

Pretty much my thoughts on IU for the last 30 years. I'm not sure any coach can win at the highest level at IU without a wholesale change in management and culture.
This is just my opinion, and I have no inside info, but I think our administration has been much more aligned in making sports a priority since Whitten became president.
Our problem with basketball lies within the outsize influence that some members of the BOT seem to have on the program.

Yes they are. You're just blind from your Fandom, which is understandable.
Purdue is THE program in the entire Big Ten now. Indiana is a has been that needs two NBA players just to make the tourney.
I’m not going to argue further. You’re not going to change my mind, and I’m not going to change yours.
Last thing I’ll say is IU has 4 final fours and two titles since the last time Purdue even MADE the final weekend. They have 3 final four appearances all time, including this year.

They already are the premier program in the state. They just happen to be searching for their 1st title.
They’re the best team right now, sure; they’re not the premier program.
IU has four final four appearances, a championship game appearance, and two titles since Purdue last made the final four.

Honestly I respect Painter and their guys play well but I simply can't root for them. This is for the simple fact they will finally have a championship and they can throw that in our faces while we sit here and struggle just to maintain some semblance of relevance in the basketball world. Not to mention I really would not like to see Edy get a championship cause of his play and how lenient the refs are always on him.
It won’t bother me. 5>1
Also, while Purdue has been great the last three years and have been solid recently, it’s not like we’ve been a total doormat the whole time either.
Their fans say things like “dusty banners,” but it’s their first final four since 1980, so I guess that argument is total 🐴💩 anyway.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, should they win it all, it won’t be the end of the world. They’ve got a LONG way to go before they “eclipse” IU as the premier program in the state, and they also couldn’t win it without having literally the biggest player to ever play in the NCAA who is allowed to camp in the lane and elbow opposing players in the head every other possession.

Well...I don't like to agree with UK fans, but gotta say we certainly lost our blue blood status. We still have all the resources though. Just having had aweful difficulty in hiring the right coach.
We will always be a blue blood; we aren’t currently an elite program, though.
Also, I don’t give a flying f*** what Kentucky fans think about IU. We beat them 2 out of the last three times those cowards were forced to play us.

They reviewed the 3 pt shot Gillis hit to see if he got it off before the foul. Not sure they could even look and change the foul call.
I’m pretty sure they made block/charge reviewable this year. That isn’t to say they completely ignored that aspect.

We aren’t playing well but some of these 3’s are just long and well defended. Nebraska runs good offense and is on a heater.
Yeah, we aren’t playing well, but sometimes teams are just on fire.
This is live by the three, die by the three offense. Tonight, they’re burning up the nets, but there’s going to be a game in the near future where they’ll lose because of it.
The key is balance. What is most effective is a blend of both these teams.

Not the point. Everybody sees it. Woodson sucks and Liam sees it. You proud of yourself for acknowledging it before everybody else?
These things aren’t mutually exclusive. They can both be true.

The standard for Iu Basketball most will say is Knight. He is hardly a bastion of purity or moral standards. Pearl has issues in his past. But I’m not someone who thinks you need to hire a saint to be a basketball coach. Hire someone who can win. I thought the university should have backed Sampson over the phone calls. Now the drugs that’s different. But to win, nobody is squeaky clean and it’s a standard that is not attainable. There isn’t a person in the planet that is righteous, not one.
I think most people’s problem with Sampson is the drugs and grades. As I recall, most of the team was failing most of their classes. Unless he turned that around, most of the team wasn’t going to be eligible if they continued on that way.
Also, the phone calls and text messages were specifically what he was on probation for, so it wasn’t so much the acts themselves as it was the egregious flouting of them despite the probation.
There’s no doubt he’s a great coach, but he deserved everything he got here.

I didn't know it was guilty until proven innocent in our justice system. Are you saying Ole Miss is a terribly unethical university for hiring him? I'm sure they did their due diligence and had their own investigation.

Big Ten Basketball 2023-2024

Just like wood floors in a house; straight parallel lines, with the grain, always overlapping what you’ve already sanded, never stop moving the sander while it’s engaged or you’ll create a divot.
The guy in the picture was going at a slight diagonal, which could result in some scratches showing up once stain/finish is applied - probably not that big of a concern for a court, though it would be in a house.
