I was wrong...Galloway and Leal will go through senior night. Here are our first 2 transfers. also posted this in the portal thread.
I don't like this at all. Native Hoosiers that grew up dreaming of playing for IU are not supposed to leave when they still have eligibility unless they are going to the NBA.

Not the easiest grid. I had to step away and rest my brain for a coupe of hours before coming back and finishing the last 2 squares.

My analysis of the current IU bball situation hasn’t changed. It makes me sick to my stomach to say this but I feel like I’m being used as an IU fan by the booster cartel keeping CMW in place despite the factual record of poor job performance and lack of leadership, which starts at the top. Like this is their project and I’m expected to fill a seat for merely being an IU fan. Taken for granted. Love these kids, but that’s not the way it works.
It doesn’t feel good to say that, but this is where I’m at. I don’t have any confidence the adults in charge will do any deep thinking or inner work that leads to making necessary changes. (Caveat to add, I don’t think the entire athletic department is included in this cartel. I do think there is a divide.)
Anyway, hope the guys have a great game today in front of the home crowd. That would be great for them.
The key to securing players that were wavering is which ones. #1 needs to be Mgbako. He was showing flashes of what he could be at the end of the season. I preface that with saying that assumes Ware is NBA bound. Otherwise, Ware would be THE guy to bring back.
On the flip side, if he's making inroads towards bringing back guys that had fallen out of the rotation, that does not really help much.

I can't believe I struggled as much as I did with 2 of the 3 Angels squares. It took me a long time to come up with Cron, but I figured he would only be about 10-15 percent. Was obviously wrong there. And then that 30+ box drove me as crazy as any single box in a long time.

I do that all the time...Look at what you or @rico put up, and curse myself for an hour for not thinking of "that player."
I just checked out the official list of Angels 30+ steals, and the name that was trying to burst through from my unconsciousness the whole time was Luis Palonia. I could see him, but my brain couldn't attach a name to him.

I really wanted a grid where I had Mays, Aaron, Cobb, and Bench that had CJ Cron as my highest score. I would have found that to be hilarious. But, dammit, I wracked my brain for 45 minutes and could not come up with someone other than Trout on Angels 30+ steals. I knew that would destroy my score, but I was on track to waste my day thinking about it, so I gave up. Of course, as soon as I come here to post, I see @IUFLAwith Bobby Bonds and I want to throw myself off a building.

My brain didn't have the energy today to give this a lot of fault. Put Gaylord too quick on the Indians line. Could have used him on Texas for a better score in both squares.

Accurate. We are so screwed unless Dolson grows a spine and pulls the trigger soon.
This is where I have issues with social media. The basketball stuff is fair game. We all have eyes about what we see on the court and can make our own judgements, but some of this stuff is unsubstantiated character assassination. This person doesn't have proof of the things I've listed below. They are either repeating something someone else said (which may have been just a rumor if not flat made up), or taken something totally out of context.
Here's my take on these 3 items:
- #4. What's the context? I've told people no when asked to do something because I have other obligations like attending a funeral, watching my kids play ball, because I'm sick, etc.
- #5. Malik Reneau made the absolute dumbest foul in the history of basketball. Woodson screamed at him. News Flash. Knight would of screamed at him. Izzo would have clenched his teeth and had facial spasms. Other coaches would yell and stomp their feet. That's what coaches do when a kid does something that dumb. But, let's even move beyond that one play. I don't know how many times I was watching the game and thinking 'Woodson needs to rip some ash'. Our game threads were littered with that same sentiment. Now, this 'tweeter' takes one instance, anger that was actually warranted, and twists it around to make Woodson look like a raving maniac. News flash!. The tweet is agenda driven I can only wonder what the tweeter would have thought about Knight.
- #6. No substantiation at all as to whether this is even partially true, let alone the full and accurate story. It probably started with one guy wondering if Buckner's friendship with Woodson was getting in the way of making a coaching change. When Scott Dolson himself tells me he was blocked by Buckner, I'll believe it. Until then, I'm not going to take the word of some social media hack.

Heard on the radio on the way home that Reds 3B Noelvi Marte has been suspended for 80 games due to PEDs. Infuriating.

Lnecht never visited. They didn't name names. People ran with Love as that one fell apart right after he left campus (which would match the story).
If some guy named Lnecht visited, that could be what caused the confusion. Coaches were expecting a Knecht.

That took me 30 seconds to type. It's not hard.
To put that into perspective, if you're Rick Pitino, that's two illicit trysts at Porcinis.

Then win games!!!!!!! They have the power to silence everything.
If we'd be bringing in the type of recruiting class we should have, if '25 looked promising, if CMW would just ONCE take ANY sort of responsibility and not sound absurdly candied when he did... I'd be on here defending him.
Nope. He and Buckner get no more blind trust.
I'm not for advocating Woodson be the coach next year. The product on the floor and the lack of recruiting speaks for itself.
I feel quite the opposite. But, some of the stories coming out on social media are rivaling the 'Crean clogged toilet' level of absurdity.
And, I think (my opinion) that people who know NOTHING about how the decisions are really being made are grasping onto the Buckner/Woodson thing, embellishing a lot of the details, if not even going to tu he level of making some of the stuff up, just so they can be 'heard' on social media.

The Buckner / Woodson conspiracy rumors are getting out of control.
Not denying they are friends, nor that Buckner wasn't instrumental in Woodson's hire. But, putting his friend through this kind of abuse and going all Hiroshima on IU's basketball program make no sense.
There are people out there spreading things as fact that are simply rumors, many of them blown way out of proportion.
Other people are spreading opinions as facts. I think Pearl would be a better coach than Woodson, but that's still just my opinion, and I shouldn't be pouring gas and tossing a match on it by taking to Twitter and embellishing every little thing to push my agenda as factual instead of opinion.

all joking aside, it has bothered me since day 1 that fans call him Woody. yes, i am old school, but he should be Coach Woodson if we respect him. we don't know him personally. i mean Woody is a cool nickname that his buddies call him, but I just think about someone calling Coach Knight "Monty" or "Ace" or something like that. just wouldn't be done.
"What's up Knight?"

Outside of message boards and social media. There’s a massive divide right now internally. Woodson has to step down. We could be looking at 10 wins next year if there’s not a change.
10 wins is a higher number than I am envisioning.

Crean was a disaster and that was proven at UGA as well. Seems like a good guy but not a good coach. IU should not have to settle for guys like Crean, Archie, Woodson, etc. Pearl would light this place up !!
I see Crean's tenure as inconsistent, but trending in the wrong direction at the end. There were some good times though.
Archie was a disaster.
Woodson's first two years were acceptable, though not quite what we were hoping. This season, however, has reached a disaster level that makes Archie look like Coach of the Year.
My main point though is that you are being unfair to Crean.

Amongst many other things, that is the problem with keeping him another year. Where does this end next season?
How bad does it have to get next season to fire him? If he squeaks into the play-in round or say a 10 seed in March, is that "improvement" and Woodson and Buckner try to sell it was a "get right" year and he now has things heading in the right direction?
Where does this end?
If Woodson is here next season, the Hoosiers aren't squeaking into the BTT, let alone the NCAA. It will seriously be on par with Crean's first year or UL last season.
There will be 1-2 current players, at most, that will stick around, and the roster additions will be from Quad 4 level environments.

Last question before I go to bed. Who is in a better spot in basketball right now?
Louisville or IndianaMichigan or Indiana
DePaul or Indiana
good night all. Always a great time on the chat with all.
Louisville is going to move on from Payne at the end of the season. 100% guaranteed.
Michigan just won a championship in the sport they care about most.
Indiana over DePaul. Bruce Pearl wants to come to Indiana. In the <2% chance Woodson quits at the end of the season, the Hoosiers could land a good coach with a bigger than life personality, which is exactly what the program needs.
Knight was a GREAT coach with a bigger than life personality. He succeeded at IU
Sampson was a GREAT coach with no personality at all, but would have succeeded at IU because of his coaching acumen.
Pearl is a GOOD coach, but with a bigger than life personality and passion for what he does. that would help make him successful at IU. not to Knight's level, because Perl isn't that level of a coach.
To succeed, IU needs a great coach (Sampson), a larger than life personality (Pearl), or both (Knight). Without either f those things, the job will swallow the coach whole.

Look, it's senseless to talk about the 'why' at this point. It's happened. For all we know, Kansas promised to change the name of Allen Fieldhouse to Liam's Lair. And, honestly, if someone tweeted that, there would be people that believed it. Quit hanging on every word some dude with a twitter account, blog, or super-secret friend of a booster says. Put yourself in this kid, or any kid's shoes.
If you, as Liam, wanted to fill a lifetime goal of playing in the NBA, and your game was perimeter oriented, would you choose to play for IU after what you watched over the course of 30 games so far this season. I wouldn't. I wouldn't want my son to do it. There are so many other places for a perimeter player to go that will better prepare him for that dream.
And, can we use this opportunity to put the NIL myth to bed? I don't know for certain, but I'm fairly comfortable in my belief that Kansas did not lure him away from IU with the promise of more NIL than what IU offered, They were able to lure him away based on what I said earlier in the post. And, if you think that money is going to sway top talent in the portal this offseason (and we may need about 8 new bodies), then why would you think those players would take the money route when Dalton Knecht, Caleb Love, and Liam Mcneeley didn't?
We're going to die on the belief that we can buy ourselves a successful team.
