Not totally in the B1G case. SEC is all football though. The B1G went after markets and research. They make their money for schools 2 ways. Makes them a more stable conference. I mean they did go after football powerhouses in Rutgers and UCLA. Now the B1G is in almost every major market even if nobody watches the B1G still gets put on the base cable package. People pay for it even if they don’t watch. Sorry I won’t derail any further.
Right but football TV deals are where the schools in each conference are making so much money.
When Clemson and FSU and Miami leave the ACC for football money, these basketball schools are going to have to hope the Big Tenor SEC will take them or they are becoming the Big East. And if you think their 35 million a year deal is bad now....
Also, if Alabama is out bidding Indianna for basketball players, then that's a real problem.

Bama is such a football school LOL. Their bball program has had some serious issues too of late.
It's all about football now. That's what all of this conference expansion and TV deals are about. It's why the ACC is getting killed and why teams like Florida State and Clemson want out. The problem is their TV deal is like 13 more years.
The Big Ten is a couple of years away from coming to North Carolina one last time and saying 'are you going to save yourself and join us or are you going to die clutching a basketball?

Yes. Patience is the key. The next few weeks will be interesting.

Looks like we're going to have to wait a couple of weeks before anything get announced but things are looking good.

No, don't call him an idiot. We shouldn't be name calling here. I know I certainly don't.

Oh ffs, if that's what you think, go be a UCONN fan then.
Do you think Indiana is committed to ensuring that their flagship program of mens basketball is among the elite in the nation?

Would any other power conference teams hire Hubert Davis or Schyer at Duke. You act like all these blue blood teams go out and hire the best coaches in the country when they have an opening.
UCONN replaced Calhoun with Kevin Ollie
Syracuse replaced Boheim with Adrian Autry
UNC replaces Roy Williams with Hubert Davis.
Duke replaces coach K with Schyer
Weren't three of those guys the number 1 assistant for retiring HOF coaches? That tends to happen.
I don't know why Davis was hired. That was an odd hire.
Edit: Nevermind. I see that Davis was an assistant for Roy as well.

I guess you knew more than all the college basketball experts who said Archie was the top coaching candidate that season. You realize that Hurley coached at little old Rhode Island before UCONN
I dont really care what the national guys were saying. You think they were going to rain on Archies parade? They know him and his brother.
People were telling Glass to his face that he would be a disaster. And they were right.

So you don't think Coach Woodson is "worth his salt"?
This hire was as exciting as a potato. When The Assembly Call guys are looking like they are eating a turd sandwich when they were discussing the hire, I think it's a problem.
You guys like the national guys so much. I'm pretty sure several mocked the hire at the time.
He's a fine man and was a great player. No other power 5 program would have hired him. But it was the best that the program could do.

So at the end of the 2017 season we should have hired Dan Hurley over Archie Miller?
You mean arguably the worst coach in Indiana history? Of course but anybody would have been better.
I don't know if he would have come, though. Archie Miller had to be talked into it from little Dayton.
I think Indiana is known in basketball circles for terrible leadership from the President down to the AD. I think it's also known for nuking its own program over a phone call and just general incompetence. No coach worth their salt wants to come here.

Well he's perfect for Indiana then.

I also heard last night that they were the first program in history to have 3 consecutive coaches win a national title.
Now that's a program committed to winning!

UCONN was the 4 seed in the Big East tourney this year. Being top 3 in a good conference is not a requirement for post-season success.
No it's not. But being committed to basketball excellence is. Connecticut(which just won their 5th since our last)is committed while Indiana is not.

I hope Galloway develops into that player you can’t keep off the floor because he just irritates the bageebers out of the other teams players! Think Sheehey.
Me too. And that hair. You just don't see hair like that these days. He's like White Goodman from Dodgeball.

How many years of eligibility does Galloway have?
