Not a coaches perspective, just a washed up also ran kind of guy that loves basketball. Thank you for the kind words. In reality basketball is a pretty easy game put a round ball in a round hole and then keep the other guys from doing the same. Coaches tend to over complicate the simple things.

Ah, you're not fooling us! 😉

Last time we played Michigan we were coming off a big win vs Purdue. We didnt play with much energy. Hopefully XJ will play some defense this time and keep a freshman guard from going 5-7 from 3pt land

This has to be exhausting, right?

XJ won't be guarding Houstan since he is 6'8

It's irrelevant. This isn't 2K. This isn't one on one park basketball.

It's not Parker Stewart vs. Jaden Ivey on Saturday. It's not Hunter Dickinson vs. TJD come TH. Anyone that understands anything about defense realizes that. Coach Shep simply has an agenda and it's pretty silly at this point.

Last 5 games he is avg 17ppg 7apg 4rpg and A/T of over 2 to 1. 45% from 3 during that stretch and he is 28/32 from the FT line during that time.

So who was assigned to guard the freshman guard? All man to man teams are assigned a player to guard. But defenses rotate due to helping , jumping to help side, etc.  But your are always responsible for your man.

No. Your team is responsible, it's everyone's job. Are we seriously debating whether or not XJ is a good defender? Outside of McConnell, I can't think of any better perimeters defenders. Ivey I'm sure is, but does he even work on that end?

You constant criticisms are weird. He is pretty good man. You should enjoy good IU players... we've had few recently.

XJ shot a better % from 3 (37.03) then Miller Kopp did (36.95) and they both shot better then Brad Davison did from 3 (34.7).

XJ and MK combine for 6 3pt attempts a game. BD shoots 7 himself.

XJ had 14p 6r 6a in the Michigan btw. 3 steals and 2 turnovers.

It is not XJ, so it will be either Kopp or Stewart.

Brooks- XJ

Jones- Stewart

Houstan- Kopp

I understand what you're saying about overall team defense, but if we're going to give players credit for doing a good defensive job on a certain player, we should certainly defend a player when someone he's not assigned to guard has a good shooting night...

Not necessarily. Parker and Thompson get lost all the friggin time against guys that aren't "their man".

This is separate then the XJ stuff. I have no clue how we could have complaints STILL about XJ. I'm agreeing with you.

Dont know what games you are watching?

You are must either a troll or you just have an unhealthy dislike for XJ.  He has been our best player the last few weeks.  So when we win XJ doesn't get credit but when we lose it is all on XJ

plus 15 shots, most on the team

First of all shooting the basketball is not a democracy. Second... if there were other players on our team that could get their own shot, XJ wouldn't be forced to take as many.

Such an odd island you've decided to live on in regards to this topic.
