Rizzo and Contreras are very aggressive and crowd the plate. Those types of guys get plunked a lot. As for your "getting out of the way", it's pretty hard to do so when you crowd the plate. The best you can do is not get hit in a dangerous place.

I have seen Rizzo stick his elbow out to get hit and the pitch is close to being a strike. Winker for the Reds did the same thing on a 3-2 count and the ump called him out because the pitch was a strike. They never call that on Rizzo and he has done it plenty of times. Letting batters wear all of that protection on their elbows and forearms lead to guys not worrying about getting hit.

IU Scott
Just got home and saw the Reds were down 5-2 and Castillo gave up 4 runs in 4 innings. He has been 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA in September so I hope tonight is not the Castillo we see inthe playoffs. Maybe the Reds celebrated to much last night and sleep waking through this game. They did go up 2-0 in the first but has not done anything since.

The Cubs, Cards, Reds, and Brewers are pretty evenly matched teams, but the division champ (Cubs 😛) would have finished 3rd in the NL West and 2nd in the NL East. Playing each other and finishing .500 is getting the NL Central teams in...

IU Scott
Here is what I don't understand is that the Reds won today and finished 31-29 and the Cardinals are 30-28. So they played 2 less games but they are given second place in the division. If they would play the two make up games and lose then the Reds would finish second and get a higher seed than 7th. I guess it really doesn't matter much between being the 7th seed or the 5th seed but it don't seem right that the cardinals not having to play those games. IU Scott
I guess the Reds schedule was harder than I thought this year since 7 of the 16 playoff teams came from the central division. So we played 6 playoff teams and only 3 teams who did not make the playoffs.
