cybergates
Game 18 VS The 1986 Hoosiers’ “Season on the Brink” ended with a shocking loss to Cleveland State that not even Magnus Pelkowski could prevent. They’ll look to make amends, but face an extremely tough matchup with the 1991 Big Ten Champions and the heralded arrival of all-time IHSAA leading scorer FR Damon "The Previous Luke Brown?" Bailey. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/indiana/1991.html https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/indiana/1986.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990–91_Indiana_Hoosiers_men's_basketball_team https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985–86_Indiana_Hoosiers_men's_basketball_team
5fouls
In the first matchup, the 2018 team was down one with under 10 seconds left. Devonte Green made an amazing pass to a wide open Curtis Jones under the basket. Unfortunately, Curtis, not being one to stay in one place for very long, transferred in the middle of the play, resulting in a win for the '59 crew. After all, nearly the entire team was filled with players from Indiana. Including one from Hammond, Indiana. An exception to my all time favorite from North Carolina. 5fouls
In the second game, '86 star Steve Alford is suspended for the game after appearing in a charity calendar, while '91 Coach Knight is still pissed off at '86 Coach Knight for allowing John Feinstein full access to the team for his book. Damon Bailey goes off for 32 points and has '86 Knight proclaiming he's the best 8th grader he's ever seen, even though Bailey is now a Freshman. In the end, the ;91 team rolls to a 17 point victory.
