Thompson just makes winning plays. Adds that toughness on the boards and in the paint we need. Hopefully he can step out and knock a few shots down as that would open up the court immensely. Guy is just the heart of the team with his energy!

Thompson and/or TJD being able to knock down open shots out to the 3pt line are a huge difference between finishing middle of the pack in the Big Ten and being a 7-10 seed vs. competing toward the top of the conference and being a 3-6ish seed.

Thompson does all of the things you said, but man how many times last year did he get the ball at the top of the key just completely unguarded and never even looked at the rim? If he can hit that shot at even an average clip, it changes the offense a lot.

Agree that it will make a huge difference if Thompson and/or TJD can knock down open shots. Aside from them we need at least two of Stewart/Kopp/Bates/Rob to knock down shots. Woody’s offense will look a bit ugly if we still have a team, as in the past few years, of bricklayers.

Oh...no doubt...he is Justin Smith 2.0.....except with a little less athleticism and a lot more hustle.
