I was at the White Sox game last night. They had a nice tribute to 9 11. A Chicago policewoman got choked up singing the national Anthem and had to pause and the crowd erupted. Was rather moving. Brief chant of USA afterword. Several other smaller tributes with the first pitch and hero of the game.4 points

Even taking away the high ranking, he fits CMW's system perfectly: big guy allowed to lead the break; switching defense; willing defender; offensive freedom of 1 in and 4 out, etc.3 points

Bumping to try and get more participants. I'll thrown in some incentive to sweeten the pot. The overall winner will receive Ex #4's phone number. She is a former exotic dancer. Won several industry awards. The only caveat is that you'll need to be patient. She's not eligible for parole until 2024. Anyway. so far, only 4 participants, and we all sit 0-1 after Thursday's game. Surely, someone out there can do better than that.3 points

I imagine those firefighters had to know with all their experience they weren’t coming out alive. Like getting off the boats at Normandy…to face that realization head on and forge ahead is bravery…well it just can’t be put into words. The only word I can think of that comes close is simply Love…most powerful word in the world. God bless all their families.3 points

Hospitals down here have two week notice to show proof of first vaccination. It’s happening. So far medical exemptions only…many have had their religous exemption denied. Anyways I don’t want to argue my friend. We both want the same thing…most don’t want to force people. Ive actually been hoping the Novavax vaccine will be approved very soon. Heard from many many non Vaxxed they are waiting for a non-mRNA approved vaccine. Novavax uses a different protein subunit approach which is similar to traditional vaccines and novavax has looked very very promising. Trials have shown it to be more effective against varients and with much less serious side effects seen in the mRNA vaccines. Since it is also not developed using fetal stem cell lines should appease even religous exempties. People that have been wanting a more “traditional” vaccine who doesn’t use mRNA and the proteins are not made by your body but are already in the vaccine should be thrilled to take this. Also those allergic to ingrediants in moderna and Pfizer shot will have an alternative. There will be those that won’t get vaxxed regardless but this one is very promising and may make a great booster as well. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/619276/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/thenewdaily.com.au/news/2021/09/09/novavax-ready-to-ship-vaccines-to-australia/amp/3 points

I had retired from the USAF in March of 2000...I got my gig at Chicago ARTCC in August of 2000... I remember after 9/11, maybe a month afterward, that I got a letter from the DOD that even though my year of inactive reserve had passed (when you retire you're obligated for 1 year after your retirement date) there was a possibility that I could be called back to active duty when the War on Terror started... And I would have gladly gone back if they'd have asked...2 points

There's a documentary by French filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet, who just happened to be with some NYFD guys at a gas leak when they caught the first plane fly into the tower on film that's so raw it's difficult to watch. As they're in the lobby of one of the towers, they finally realize this massive sound coming every 50 seconds or so are from jumpers hitting the pavement outside of the foyer... Link2 points

My wife and I and her sister and husband were supposed to go to the Noblesville amphitheater that night to see Jimmy Buffet. I remember my wife and her sister discussing whether or not the show would still be on. I told her no way would anyone want to go to a concert that night. Of course it was cancelled. I think the gravity of what happened took a while to sink in for some people.2 points

Good to get in the win column. Lots of positives from the game. My only issue is that I wish we would have had Penix chucking it around. Some of that was because of the game with short fields and being up big, but I don't think this game helps him a ton. Maybe a little confidence boost and a little more rust knocked off, but 11-16 for only 68 yards isn't much after how bad he looked last week. Would have liked to see more passing and less running in the 1st half. Overall though, we looked pretty solid when the game mattered. Lots of good things to take away from this one.2 points

We had our best attended game vs an absolute train wreck of a team in a long, long time.. noooo reason to complain about people leaving at halftime of this one. Student section was literally filled to the brim. I'm all on board about games in the past and not being happy about ppl leaving.. not this one. Idaho sucked.. and we had a very, very good crowd. Tailgating was legit. Yes, I understand it usually is.. but it just felt different today. Gotta go find a way to beat Cinci.2 points

One of the more under appreciated pleasures of my sports fanhood is seeing OSU fans try to cope with the existential crisis of losing a football game, especially early in the season. I hope some of them are late for work Monday morning because they had to wait for a line of ducks to cross the road in front of them.2 points

Ya, that was more what was eye opening. I know washington is rebuilding and was an Idaho for GS, but with what I saw them do that game I didnt think the offense would struggle.1 point

Anyone that has ever been good in something needs a reminder and a confidence reminder they are good. Like our line so far. Would like to see several more throws from Penix but the kids need to remember they are good. Regardless of team discrepancy....confidence is king sometimes.1 point

I get what you are saying but the separate rules are problem. Do postal workers not need vaccine passports to eat in restaurants? Fly on planes (I believe that is coming)? Carve outs are problematic whenever and however they are used. Why doesn't Congress and the USPS voluntarily agree to abide by the rules the rest of the country is being forced to? I believe in the servant part of public servants. Public office should not be a way to enrich themselves and their families which unfortunately has too often become the case of late. Our leaders should not have better health care plans than the average person. Time and again we see certain groups getting preferential treatment and that undermines what is supposed to be a fair and equal Society1 point

No basis in science for excluding postal workers and members of congress from mandatory vaccines being imposed on much of the US. . Last I heard, those classes did not have different DNA from the rest of us that protects them. And when Fauci was asked why people with natural immunity were required to be vaccinated, his reply was "I don't have a firm answer for that" Because IT IS NOT BASED ON SCIENCE! Do any other developed countries not count natural immunity? I'm not aware of any.1 point
