I heard un the press conference Woodson said TJD had a great game but reminded him that he scored 48 at Illinois14 points

Couple of observed moments from last night I enjoyed. IU was down, 1st half, but beginning to show signs of responding to Marshall’s impressive 12-point lead when Durr was called on a moving screen (on 3 drained by X). Woodson leaned into the ref that called the foul, which seemed a bad call. Good to see. Woodson has not bitched about officiating this year much, but that was good to see. 2nd moment: latter portion of 2nd half Woody called a timeout and torched X the entire timeout. X came out of the timeout, did not pout and finished the game with strong leadership of the team from pg spot. Little building blocks that make us better.10 points

As much as we want them to dominate from start to finish, this was a good test coming from behind. You want to see who responds when things are not going well. It was ugly at times but they figured it out. I like that to this point they have played against some very different types of teams. Not the best competition level but now they have seen zone D, fast break offense, small ball offense, and man-to-man D. They've seen TJD doubled, faced full court press D and last night their pick and roll D was exposed. They were able to adjust in-game and now they will work on it going forward. That's a good sign. They did a better job preventing offensive rebounds. Lander continues to show signs and it is nice to see him get to the rim and score. He just has to lower the turnovers. Tamar and Geronimo were not good last night. The pace of the game really had them confused on defense. I'm concerned about the minutes TJD and Race played last night. I know X and Parker played 30+ also but that's due to injuries to Rob and Trey, plus Leal didn't see the floor. Once healthy the minutes should work out better for the guards. But insude Durr isn't giving them enough and it's going to catch up to them. In his three minutes played he had two turnovers and a foul. He looks slow and he can't seem to get his footwork together to even get a shot without traveling. It's a potential replay of last season with Brunk. If the idea is he needs to play his way into game shape, he needs more than three minutes. If he's still hurt and not able to move, he should be sitting. Unfortunately LD apparently can't be trusted off the court and likely isn't ready on the court. Take the W, improve, and move on.7 points

We fired Sheridan in what, 12-14 hours after the last snap of the season, on a Sunday? And it "doesn't move the needle?" The defense was "bad" in the latter half of the season because half our 2 deep was injured at one point or another and the offense continually threw pick sixes, turned it over in the red zone, and went three-and-out at the 20 yard line, giving the other team starting position on our side of the 50 half the time. Hard to have a good defense all year when you're put in that situation on nearly every drive. Most of the defenses "problems" actually stem from how utterly inept we were on offense all year. Also, if Allen goes the "head coach of the offense" route again, which, IMO, is likely, he'll probably give that person some latitude in bringing in his own position coaches (with the likely exception of McCullough). Give it more than an hour to play out...7 points

Let's look at it this way. If Michigan would have lost yesterday, they would have received ZERO consideration as a two loss team. Why should OSU? Are we falling back on preseason expectations or perception versus on the field performance? So, Cincy hasn't proven they can beat top competition, but the top competition hasn't proven they can beat Cincy either. We may believe that OSU would beat Cincy, but many of us believed OSU was going to beat Michigan as well.6 points

Nothing about Geronimo tells me he needs to start. He was too emotional and so off last night. And the game before as well. Until he can calm down and play with some composure he needs to be getting 10-15 mins a game to give people a brake IMO. Kopp played a good game last night. Solid defense, no bad shots on offense, boxed out on the boards. Didn’t score a ton, but hit a couple big ones in the second half.6 points

TJD and X were obviously outstanding. Bates hit a big shot to put the game on ice. We have some things to work with and a coach who can adapt within a game. I think this will be a really fun season.6 points

Xj has been so much better with his decision making today. A lot more under control. And our timely hitting open threes is a breath of fresh air.6 points

I love we have a coach that calls timeout when the other team changes their D. We havent seen that since Knight.6 points

I know some of that was meant good naturedly, but that’s something I love about this staff that we haven’t had…practically ever. Both Woodson and Fife can look every player dead in the eye and say “I’ve already done practically everything you can do in that uniform….except one thing. Accomplish that, and we’ll all be happy.”4 points

I even said above that Cincy is likely not as good as OSU. But, at the same time, Georgia and Michigan should not have to beat the same team again if there are other worthy candidates out there. If Cincy and Okie State win next week, they make a compelling argument that they should get their chance. The other two had that chance and would have failed.4 points

Nope. We need results now!!! Don't you know Tom Allen can't put together successful seasons even though he went 14-7 the two years prior to this one!?! We need to win @iowa, Michigan, Penn St and beat a top 5 MSU/OSU/Cinci at home 🤣 No excuse.4 points

I was going to say it a few days ago but decided to wait. IMO JG has incrementally regressed the last 3 games (by my eye test). It almost seems like he went and speed himself up and that isn't working bro. Just simma down a little JG!4 points

This can't be right. While watching the Duke / Gonzaga game Friday night, I was assured that it would be Timme or Banchero. But, they are 24th and 26th in these rankings.4 points

I’m still at this &$:@ wedding reception. I could watch the first half pretty close, but the second not as much. Glad to see they got it in gear at the half.4 points

Still a lot of B10 players ahead of him, but does my heart good to see TJD ahead of Cockburn. And yes, the 12 year in me giggles every time I type that name.3 points

Brady didn’t beat the Colts today….They beat themselves… 5 total turnovers, ( the last one was 50/50). The Colt were the better team, minus the stupid turnovers. Tampa’s defense is good, but we made them look better.3 points

If Cincy beats Houston next week and still does not get in, we may as well go back to the BCS Championship game only. Goergia vs Michigan. Letting OSU and Bama in would essentially render yesterday's game in the Big House and the SEC Championship game (assuming Bama loses) as meaningless.3 points

No excuse for Hiller to stay on staff either with how horrendous our offensive line was either3 points
-
Let's assume Georgia beats Bama. At that point we have a 2 loss Tide and a 2 loss Buckeye team. Georgia and Michigan should not be required to beat them again. Cincy probably isn't as good as the Buckeyes, but who is to say they wouldn't beat Michigan and Georgia to win it all. The Buckeyes and Tide would have had their chance and failed.3 points

Durr will serve a purpose. Do not underestimate the minutes and fouls he can provide v the Toiletmakers bigs/ Kofi/OSU/Wisconsin. Anything he can do to ensure TJD and Race stay out of foul trouble is invaluable3 points

If you get to a home game this year, be sure to check out Coach Matta. He will be sitting beside Dolson. I can only imagine what it would be like if he were able to coach the games and get In these players heads. The guy is full of fire and emotion. Really gets into the game.3 points
