A huge step this year for the NBA was eliminating all of the baiting of fouls they used to let offensive players get away with. It's not completely out of the game, but they have really reduced letting shooters leap into defenders and calling the foul, letting drivers yank their head back to bait fouls and letting drivers basically hook the defensive players arm to bait fouls. They also eliminated the sweep and lift where the guy with the ball would sweep through the defenders arm and then flail to draw a shooting foul. They still call the foul but it's not shooting anymore, which has reduced offensive players even doing it. Along with being out of shape, I actually think these rule changes are a huge reason why James Harden has fallen off so much. But, these changes have really improved the NBA this season.

Like a few others, I am an old timer. Got sucked in to being a Hoosier fan watching us get screwed when Downing was called for some bogus fouls v UCLA. Fan ever since. Different than others, my favorite memories are from Crean’s first team. To watch a group of guys who had no business wearing the candy stripes play their hearts out. To see them win a few games, even a conference game… confirmed for me that wearing a Hoosier uniform was a privilege. I know that the results were horrible, but those guys are my all time favorite team

These are the exact type of games we can now schedule since we don't have to do the Crossroads anymore. Don't want to hear one pipe out of anyone with our scheduling. Kansas, Arizona, ACC....and Big 10.

Joey Crawford is crazy! When I worked for the Celtics I would sometimes do the scorekeeping. I was doing the scorekeeping during that Celtics-Pacers series when Pierce was talking trash with Al Harrington and he hit that 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter in one of the games. Anyways, during one of the games in that series a Celtic hit a shot that was called a 2 but the Celtics owner (essentially my boss) thought it was a 3. During a timeout he comes over and is yelling at me to change it to a 3. Joey Crawford sees this and comes over and starts yelling at me at the same time asking "who the F is this guy telling you to change the score? This is my F'ing game and I make the rules!" A bit of an uncomfortable spot for me 🤣.

Perhaps…but basically the nba has just allowed it so much it is too deeply part of the game to take out now. It is what it is. In my opinion carrying is like holding in the NFL…except even called less. It is only called on the most eggregious circumstances when a player or team gets an obvious or too big an advantage. By the letter of the law it happens on every possession at some point. Here is an officials video (so from the experts) and if you don’t think these moves don’t happen on almost every possession then I don’t know what to tell you. That said it’s part of the game now…and the rule is basically null and void…like many other rules that basically get taken out of the game.

And refs call it incorrectly as much as they call it correctly. I haven't noticed an abundance of traveling or palming.

concur I think if the NFL would get out of the officials way (making stupid rule changes)... they would even be a little bit better then they are now. NBA seems to have been gradually getting better for a while now.

In general I think NFL officials do a good job and NBA in general isn't bad.

It's close, but I can't remember the last time I saw carrying called at any level. Just a small attempt at humor. I'd have mad respect for @jefftherefif he's called it in the last ten years. Props on the Pack reference as well...😂
