  1. Just got home and missed the selection show, did IU make it?
  2. It would also worry me if most of these guys stayed even under a new coach. If you're not up for and locked into this game, regardless of the coach, then I dont think you have that natural fight or mental toughness.
  3. Again, I'm not making some defense of Archie stance here. I'm saying as an athlete and a player, if you're not up for this game after the way they got embarrassed and laughed at last game against Rutgers, then that is on the players. This is a manhood game, and Archie can't do that for them all the time. This is a game where the players should have some pride and not even need their coach to "get through to them" or get them up for it.
  4. I guess my point is, he shouldn't even have to get through to them for this. Like you said, Rutgers punked them and laughed at them while doing it. If these guys need Archie to "get through to them" for this one, then we have the wrong guys.
  5. This is not a defense of Archie post. With that said, the way the Rutgers players were essentially laughing at our guys in the last game, this match-up is on the players. If there is a situation where this team is going to come out with energy and enthusiasm, and some pit bull attitude this would be it.
  6. Again, I understand how it works. But the reality of its contents and how it works are not how it could play out publicly potentially. All you need is Archie making a similar public comment like Izzo, and then a couple players tweeting out the Bill of Rights.
  7. His school also doesn't have a Bill of Rights stating that every scholarship is guaranteed for 4 years.
  8. I know, Scott. But it still hampers the coach via perception. Its a little hard to publicly say the players are playing for their scholarship when the school has adopted this. Its also a dangerous move to play that could backfire on the coach. What if Archie makes this statement and then one of the players goes off on Twitter or something posting the Bill of Rights? Again, a PR nightmare.
  9. The "you're playing for your scholarship" thing carries a little less weight with that Student-Athlete Bill of Rights.
  10. I understand the frustration. I've been frustrated by the negativity at times too. Just keep it civil. IUScott is a passionate IU fan, just like you.
  11. Lets remember we're all on the same team here. We're all frustrated but let's do our best to keep it civil. Reminder too, let's keep the language clean.
  12. I've noticed it for awhile. There's just an overall appearance of a lack of enthusiasm. Even dating back to previous years when it would be a big game and the Hall would be packed, during the starters being announced our guys walk out like they're completely board out of their minds.
  13. I'd love to see even an ounce of that enthusiasm from IU's players. Our players walk out onto the court like zombies for the tip.
  14. This might not have anything to do with Holtman, might just be the kid's nature or it could be the atmosphere Holtman has created, but I watched the beginning of their game during last week and their guard, Jackson I think, was jumping up and down after the lineup announcements and ran up and down the bench hugging each coach as he went onto the floor for the tip-off. That kid was amped and ready to play and you could tell he loved the staff and loved just being there. Since Archie got here, our guys look like they couldn't care less as they get ready to play. I'm ready for a return to actual enthusiasm and energy.
  15. Looks like it might have something to do with this... https://awfulannouncing.com/radio/dan-dakich-called-out-for-misogynistic-comments-doxing-following-heated-twitter-discussion-over-student-athlete-compensation.html
  16. I was just reading the comments on the tweet and many were saying he shut it off himself, though that doesn't sound like DD.
  17. Interesting, people are saying he shut it off himself.
  18. He was getting a lot of respect last night from the refs.
  19. Agree on Hurts, and he wasn't really even that good last year...he just wasn't Wentz. He went 1-3 with the win coming at home against the Saints without Drew Brees. His completion percentage was 52% and he threw 6 TD's to 4 INT's. I completely understand he didn't have an offseason and training camp to prepare to be the starter and you can't judge a rookie in 4-5 games. That's why if I was the Eagles I would have kept Wentz and tried to trade Hurts. Hurts has some value because of the unknown and being just a 2nd year player. They probably could have gotten a 2nd or 3rd for him. Then in the draft you stock up on offensive lineup and defense (they took a bunch of WR last year), let the new coach rehabilitate Wentz and go from there. But, I guess that's not happening. As an Eagles fan I'm not too excited about heading into next season with Hurts and Nate Sudfeld as our QB's. I was hoping to not have to take a QB with #6 but it's looking like that would make the most sense.
  20. Could be. Kind of a backdoor way for Wentz to institute his own no-trade clause.
  21. Yeah, and if Wentz doesn't have one then tough break for him.
  22. Yeah, I dont understand what the Eagles are doing. For me, I'd rather thr Eagles keep Wentz. His value is at its lowest and you just hired an offensive coach as your head coach. I'd rather the Eagles work to rehabilitate Wentz and see what the trade market is for Jalen Hurts. To your point, if they do trade Wentz who cares where he wants to go? You get the best deal you can and tough brake if Wentz doesn't like it.
  23. Agree. When programs like MSU, UNC, Louisville, etc., are rolling is when they stack recruits like TJD, Garcia and Kaufmann in consecutive classes. Same at the guard spots. IU's problem the last 10-15+ years is we have those guys one at time, we rarely have 3 or so stud guys at the same time. We have Langford and then TJD. We have Zeller on the inside and then Vonleh, and then a year with none, and then Thomas Bryant. I've been waiting for the IU coach that can produce multiple top 30-40 recruits in a class and then stack 3-4 classes like that in a row.
