The quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup

Was not able to watch any of the game last night, but saw the highlights this morning. Great for a local guy to score the game winner.

Sounds like Bishop about stood on his head to keep the Stars in the game. 52 saves on 54 shots is crazy good, especially after the shot he took on his clavicle the game before.

Will be interesting to see if the Sharks or the Avs can pull it out tonight. Either one, I think the Blues stand a good chance to advance.

First two goals Bishop has ever allowed in a Game 7 were last night.  And yes, he basically kept the Stars in it by himself.  Binnington saw half that amount.

Trivia that probably interests only me: San Jose and Colorado were the Blues' opponents the last two times they made it to the conference finals.

Crazy offsides call last night that caused the Avs a goal, and quite possibly the game.

By the letter of the law, he was offsides, but he was standing by the door, waiting to get off the ice. Not involved in the play at all. On Golic and Wingo this morning, they likened it to the guy who is racing off the field to get to the sidelines before the ball is snapped, and Aaron Rodgers catches it and starts the play causing a 12 men on the field penalty.

Unfortunately for Colorado, they went into a daze right after that call and gave up a third goal, which ended up being the game winner.

Should be two good conference finals series. All of my rooting interests have been eliminated. As long as Boston doesn't win, I am okay with whoever takes the Cup.

The "Bunch of Jerks" vs "Gloria" would make for a fun Finals.

Much to the dismay of the Blues faithful, it appears Jordan Binnington is indeed human. Doesn't make game 2 a must win, but pretty damn important.

I'm not a Blues fan, but I did see my share of Blues games at the old Checkerdome in the early 80s.

There used to be a killer Irish pub near the Checkerdome (McGillacuddy's?) that served the best thick bloody hamburgers. Also the first place I ever saw and tried Guiness Stout on tap. Looked like motor oil but sure was (and still is) good!

Saw my first Blues game at the Checkerdome: '93 Playoffs vs the Blackhawks.  Wasn't looking for pubs, given that I was 12.  Only time I made it to the old barn.

Blues just got screwed in game 3. A blatant hand pass wasn’t called and it ended the game for SJ. Such gross incompetence from the referees.

Blues and Saints fans now have something in common. That easily makes my top 10 blown calls of all time in any sport. And a play like that isn't reviewable? The hell...its not a judgment call.

Didn't help that Methusela Thornton chose last night to reanimate himself.

One of the worst calls I’ve ever seen.

When the wrong call causes a casino (more or less) to issue refunds, you know you done f***ed up.

Got the start they needed and JB kept them in it. Kid is a stud. That game also gave Binnington the Blues' franchise record for playoff wins in a single season.

Best of 3, going back to Cali.

Edit: This ties the mark for the closest the Blues have been to the finals in my lifetime.

Pure, unrestrained, glorious DOMINANCE. Shutout for Binnington. Hat trick for Schwartz. And the soul crusher, a penalty shot goal by Tarasenko, the first in franchise history. 5-0, and headed back home for game 6 and a shot at the finals.

This is the closest the Blues have been to the finals in my lifetime.

Loved it! That game was a blast!
