I think you're right about Ohio State, but Michigan is trying to replace 2 2nd Team all B1G selections (Wagner and Livers) and 2 solid rotation guys (Brown and Smith) with freshmen and transfers. Dickinson got a lot of room to operate inside because of the Wolverines abundance of good outside shooters, and while I like Eli Brooks, he can't make up for 3 over 40% 3 point shooters by himself. I expect to see Mr Dickinson have a lot of company in the post this year.

I truly see us battling with OSU and Purdue for the top 3 spots. We're not reliant on freshmen for our depth any more. I think we'll be pretty good.

I forgot about Wagner leaving so that will be a big loss for them, Brown and Smith i think they will be able to replace. You are probably right about Dickinson, it might be a little more crowded for him this year. I might flip them with Ohio State.

I think the Hoosiers ceiling is third which i would be extremely happy with. I say that because we have so much new this season so there is a lot of unknown.

I also think Maryland, Michigan, and Michigan St fight it out for 4th, and Iowa, Rutgers, and Northwestern are better than Wisconsin or Illinois...

I think with who Iowa has loss that they take a big fall in the standings, and while i think Northwestern might improve and surprise some i don't think they are better then those teams.

I would probably move Michigan and Ohio State to 1st and 2nd, and a toss up between IU and Maryland for 4th or 5th.

Also if Kofi doesn't go back to the Illini 7th through 10th could be close and flipped around anyway.

Northwestern and Nebraska are the two teams that i think could surprise some people this year.

I don't think the NBA needs NYC, LA, Boston, Philly, etc., for ratings and discourse,

This is the one are i might have to disagree with you on, yes the star players bring the ratings but i also think the markets do. If this was L.A vs Miami with the same players i think the ratings would be better and more people would be talking about it.

The only two semi-interesting aspects are will Chris Paul cement his legacy with a title or will Giannis vault himself into the LeBron, Durant, Curry, Kawhi category with a title.

Also these are two pretty big storylines IMO, CP3 and Giannis are two of the biggest stars in the league. The one glaring factor in this series is that it is in two relativaly small markets.

I agree that Illinois and Iowa will take a step backward, and throw Wisconsin in there too...also, I think Michigan State and Rutgers will either tread water or go backward...

I think IU and Northwestern will show the biggest gains...

Northwestern is one of the only teams in the B1G that i don't mind doing well, so i would be ok with them improving. Most teams in the B1G i like to see fall flat on their faces anymore lol.

  5. Ok lets get this thread back on track for the B1G and not turn it into the Calipari thread.

With most teams pretty much settled, assumuing Kofi doesn't go back to the Illini, which teams will have the biggest dropoff and which will be the biggest risers. I personally think Illinois and the Hawkeyes will be the biggest losers this season. The Hawkeyes and Illini have lost to much to not have a big dropoff. And this might be bias but i think the Hoosiers will be around fourth or fifth in the league and make the biggest leap forward. Last couple of seasons the Hoosier players seemed like they were just going through the motions, hopefully that is different this season.

The things you're agreeing to about him sure seem like things I would want in a coach.

I would also want a coach that doesn't have to have only NBA All Star talent to win. If the one and done ever goes away he might want to think about going back to the NBA.

He may not be Coach K or or Coach Knight, but he is a pretty dang good coach.

I think he is an average coach but a really good salesman. Which to be fair is part of the game i guess.

How has he made so many Final Fours if he keeps getting outcoached in the tournament?

With the talent he has had he should make the Final Four almost every year. You could put just about any decent coach with that talent and they will make some Final Fours. Heck Matt Painter might actually make one. 😀

Maybe it isn't great x and o coaching but it certainly is great leadership.

This i do agree with you on.👍

Most underachieving coach in college basketball just got a lifeline. And I don’t want to hear people say all of us would have loved to have his results blah blah blah. The guy has had a top 3 recruiting class 10 years in a row and has ONE title, thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime recruit in AD. Results may have been even less if they didn’t play in the weakest Power 5 conference and able to coast most of the year. Gets out-coached every year in the tourney.

    Good post 👍

More than likely. I hate that Cal is using Illinois as a feeder program though. 2 top recruiters and more than likely Kofi.

I like that Illinois is getting crapped on, but i wish that it was someone other then Kentucky.

Would you stay in school another year, make your $, graduate,etc....instead of going the undrafted route to the pros?

This is probably what made Kofi withdraw from the draft. He probably wasn't going to be drafted high so now he can go to Couch Burning U and make some money and work on his game to maybe improve his draft stock.

Honestly...I just don't want any part of Ben Simmons.

To be honest i am with you on this. I don't want the Pacers to waste anything substanial on this guy. He would have one foot out the door in record time if he was traded to the Pacers. On 76ers boards they think he wants to get to L.A. and the fact that he just bought a house there means they might actually be right.

Also he is pretty much the same player as he was as a rookie with minimal improvement, so I would say no thank to a trade for him.

  12. Man the NBA head offices has got to hate how these playoffs have ended up. No Lebron, KD, Steph, and big ratings teams like Lakers and Miami making it to the finals, this is their worst nightmare come true. There is a very good chance these might be one of the lowest viewed finals in awhile.

The funny thing is for me, i haven't watched a game all year and i might actually watch one now with all those teams and players not making it.

I find it funny that he has been just as deep in the playoffs with the mighty Clippers as he was with the lowly small market Pacers.

This is what i get a laugh out of, since he weaseled out on the Pacers he has played with some pretty good players and has accomplished nothing more then when he was with them. By the end of his career he might ring chase and get one like David West but that is the only way.

There aren't many pro athletes that i have as much disdain for as i do him and the day that turd retires without a  championship other then ring chasing will be glorious.

Also if V.O wasn't a Hoosier he would be up there with Regular Season G with my disdain.

Yuengling Black & Tan really gets me going on certain players lol. 😀
