Back to back bad 4th quarters for the pacers.

So, I take it the Pacers got beat? Dang, I was watching Star Trek.
Great game. More heroics from Vic, just not enough to make up for a poorly played fourth quarter.

I couldn't care less how effective it is but it is boring to watch. I am sorry if I enjoy watching player and ball movement how basketball is meant to be played.
"how basketball is meant to be played" yeah you are not the president of basketball, Scott.

Pacers lost this game because of their free throw shooting and those 3 or 4 horrible calls especially the two fouls on VO against Harden. Houston looks awful and they are so boring to watch with their pick and roll offense and Harden dribbling out the shot clock. Also they rely on the 3 way to much and you saw that in game 7 of the conference finals.
That boring pick and roll offense resulted in Sabonis guarding Harden way, way too often. Beautifully executed by Houston all night.

I was there too, as did I have a good view as well. Yes the pacers missed 10 free throws, that hurt them more than 3 phantom calls(just so happened to be when Harden had the ball in his hands) that went against the Pacers. James Harden goes in for a fast break layup on a steal, Vic contests the layup and as he jumps he jumps in the air away from Harden who misses a point blank layup and a foul is called after the ball hits the floor. Cannot tell me that was a foul. I will argue all day that the three refs last night kept the game close BUT they did miss 10 free throws to Houston's 1 missed free throw.
Yes, there were missed calls, there are missed calls in every game.
The Pacers lost because they scored six points in the first eight and a half minutes of the fourth quarter, missed ten free throws, and gave the Rockets wide open threes in winning time. Not because of some ref conspiracy.

Spoken like someone who didn't watch the game. It was bad enough that Nate McMillan, who never bothers to say anything got a tech.
I was there, so I think I had a pretty good view.

The Pacers outshot the Rockets enormously at the foul line. The awful 4th quarter until Vic came to save the day again was what doomed them.

Victor doesn’t get subbed out for defense. Case closed.

Victor with the absolute ONIONS three and then a steal to down the Celtics. Victor is everything.

He was just tardy to practice. Step back from the ledge.

Was Kev out stalking the team?
We gave him what he thought were binoculars and a recon mission, but it was actually a View-Master. He is probably out in the bushes somewhere enjoying some scenic images of the Grand Canyon.

After a group discussion (excluding kev) we have unanimously voted to hijack his thread and convert this to an all-encompassing NBA thread. Carry on.

Question for the mods - do you want us to keep this thread specific to IU players this year and have a separate NBA thread? Or can all NBA posts go in here?
NBA Thread is in the Animal House

I think Vic has clearly become a top 20 or so player. Whether he can push his game up further and against guys like Embiid though remains to be seen. You know i’m A huge Vic fan, but we’re talking 1 season, and in fairness no one expected Vic or the P’s to be anywhere near as good as they turned out to be. Teams will be serioysly game planning against Vic from the get go, it’s a different situation. I would love to see Vic keep on rising, but I’m more in the wait and see camp - I expect great play from him, I don’t expect top 10 play. If he gets there, fantastic
I get this argument, but wouldn't it be fair to say that Cleveland was gameplanning for him in the playoff series?

Turner definitely needs to turn things around on the offensive end, but his defense has more than made up for it. Collison is the real current problem. I would not be opposed to giving Sabonis a chance to start and moving Myles to the bench, though.
