  1. If Ostrom has head coaching ambitions and surely he does, COVID-19 probably puts those ambitions on hold for at least another year. Not an ideal time to uproot your family and move into a new job with all the uncertainty that presently exists. Also, I would hazard a guess that a number of AD's have decided to stick with what they currently have and not attempt to hire a new head coach in the current environment.
  2. That would be correct. Only Karaban, Phillips and Washington have offers. Number of others we've reportedly watched, contacted, kicked the tires, etc., but only 3 official offers to date.
  3. That is correct. Jalen Washington from Gary West HS received an offer in June '19, but I'm concerned about his durability. He missed a significant number of games in the '18-'19 season due to a shoulder injury (I think that's what it was) and he missed nearly all of the past season with a torn ACL.
  4. Oh lord, next it will be the sheep at West Lafayette.
  5. In a sense, it would be good to have a cool wet spring to discourage people from being outside and congregating with others. But that wouldn't be good for the farmers. Catch-22.
  6. Sounds a little kinky to me! 😁
  7. I also wondered the same thing about military personnel who served overseas especially during the Vietnam War.
  8. Dead period does not mean that all contact is prohibited. Two weeks ago, the NCAA declared a mandatory recruiting dead period in response to the coronavirus shutdown of college sports, barring official and unofficial visits, contacts and evaluations while still permitting phone calls and text messages. But if you think that's stopped everyone, Vice President of Enforcement Jon Duncan has this update.
  9. Absolutely agree. I watched a number of his games this season and the above description is spot on. If he has an Oladipo like work ethic then we could have a true gem on our team in a year or 2.
  10. He hit the game winner against Franklin Central. He's #2 in this clip. https://www.indystar.com/videos/sports/high-school/2020/02/22/instant-highlights-westfield-68-franklin-central-66/638910000/
  11. And there is the possibility that it had become clear that IU's interest had waned and it sounded better to dad if that's the story he gave out. I'm in no way saying that's what happened but it is a possibility. Also, I agree with 5fouls that listening to a rival coach isn't exactly doing what's best for your child. If you can't say anything good about your own program I guess you can only resort to dissing the competition.
  12. I think our '21 recruit success rate will be a direct reflection of how this season plays out. Good year and recruiting will be solid. Bad year (similar to last year), and it will be a Plan B class as Billingsley described it.
  13. How much of an impression can he really get visiting 3 schools in 1 weekend?
