Sadly a lot of the TO’s had nothing to do with the defense. Just some really mind numbing turnovers including Parker’s pass right to the Cuse player to start the game.

I literally just said to my wife most of these were mind numbingly dumb turnovers. 🤯

Hummel just gave Archie some credit for our D. I spit my drink across the room.

To be fair, compared to what Crean left defensively for Archie, we seem in much shape on that end overall coming into this year. Kind of scary to think back to those Crean days defensively! 😬

  3. It really is great to see that Eric Gordon found his home in this Rockets system over the past couple of years. I've always regretted that his Hoosier legacy was overshadowed by Samscum fiasco, despite averaging nearly 21 points/game his freshman year. He had the talent to lead this team to a deep run in March until that team imploded. Then he went through string of injuries that limited him in the NBA when he should have been blossoming as a player. It's really nice to see him look like he's got his legs under him and his shot confident these days.

I think he goes out of his way to defer to his teammates at times on the offensive end.  Important approach for team success.

What I'm talking about isn't the body language of deference. If you didn't know better, you'd think he was disengaged or being lackadaisical, but that's obviously not the case being he always ends up where he's supposed to be. It's almost like he can react so quickly, he doesn't bother to even look ready to react until he does. I'm not sure this makes any sense! Ha.

I can't argue with the results of his approach, but I wouldn't use footage of him to show a young player how to play on the weak side on either end of the court. Not many players can pull off going from standing straight up looking disengaged to bolting like an antelope like he can!

  5. Vic is averaging 29.7 over his last 9 games. Hard to fathom the quantum leap he took this year after being in Westbrook's shadow last year.

On a side note, I find it interesting every time I watch him play is that he often doesn't look like fully engaged at points (I'm talking his body language and remaining in an athletic stance), but then he's able to be in the right spot at the right time on both ends because he so quick and explosive. Not sure I've seen a player do this quite like him and get away with it. Anybody else notice this?

Ended up with 47 in a double digit comeback win.

I can't believe the year he's putting together and he just keeps getting better. Love it! This performance puts him in a new level of respect in the league. Not many guys can drop 47 in a game!

Great article. I just get annoyed at "well he's no Paul George".  Look at the stats this year and tell me he's no Paul George.

    VO vs PG:

    22.9 vs 21.9 PPG

    45.8 vs 43.8 FG%

    44.7 vs 42.5 3pt%

    80.6 vs 79.4 FT%

    5.2 vs 5.9 Rebounds

    3.8 vs 2.8 assists

    0.9 vs 0.4 blocks

    1.7 vs 2.6 steals

    2.7 vs 3.0 fouls

    3.2 vs 2.7 T/O

Please tell me where Paul George is crushing VO...I don't see it.  The only arguments you have is they don't play the same position and personally I think VO's trajectory leaves a lot more in the tank than Paul George will have going forward.  Injuries are the only thing that changes that.

Enough of the "he's no Paul George" talk.  This year, he most certainly is.

Pretty even Steven...tipping in Vic's favor overall. It's an interesting and difficult comparison to make from many angles between the two. I just couldn't be happier that Vic has landed, in all places, Indiana to take that next step in his career. I just hope he can sustain this level of play throughout the season and be one of the centerpieces of the Pacers re-building process for the long term.

  8. My take: Cavs win.....Celts lose big time with this trade. The Celts just lost their heart and soul player (their leader!) and gained a guy who simply wants the ball in his hand more, despite having the ball in his hands a TON last year, and doesn't seem to put much emphasis in defensive side of the game at all. And they gave away WAY too much with that 2018 first round pick (and I think they'll miss Crowder as well). More so, it completely upended their conference championship contending roster, which they had already tweaked way to much for a team that had a very successful line up in place for the future.

Very dicy move for Boston. It will interesting to see how this one works out on both sides.
