  1. Most college offense are based off of the NBA sets
  2. How many recruits knew who Musselman and Oats were before they got to Arkansas and Alabama, Just look at most of the coaches in the elite 8 and probably 5 of them was not that well known until they got their big opportunity, OSU- Tinkle most probably did not know who he was 2 weeks ago Gonzaga- Did anyone know who Mark Few was when he took this job USC- Enfeld only had 1 great run in the tournament but was not well known. UM- Howard they knew him from his playing days but no HC experience UCLA- Cronin he was a a good coach but how many recruits really knew who he was when he went to UCLA Alabama- Oats been a HC coach in D1 4 years an no one really knew who he was before this year. Arkansas- Musselman been HC for 5 ears in D1 and how many recruits new him until 2 years ago Baylor- Drew he is well known now but when he took over Baylor he had 1 year d1 coaching experience.
  3. To me it looks like Dolson is trying to set up a front office for college like they do in the pros. Matta- GM Brown- Director of player Development if he comes
  4. Probably can say that about 90% of college coaches and Patrick Ewing was not recognized at Madison Square Garden where he played for years.
  5. I would hope all of them will come back and go get a 6'9 stretch 4 that can shoot from outside. I also can see getting another quality PG as well that can shoot.
  6. I think that jus ton the court stuff Woodson will be great and bring in Matta will help learning the other things of the college game. Also hopefully at least 1 if not 2 of his assistants will have college experience.
  7. First time I saw him I said he was a TJ McConnell with a shot
  8. I hope Mike will bring a better style of offense than a lot of the college coaches were were looking at would have brought. I see a lot of of bad offense or at least style of no movement and all guy trying to break down their defenders off the dribble. Gonzaga is so fun to watch offensively because they have player and ball movement.
  9. Good post but really those college coaches have not been a D1 coach more than 6 years so it is not like they have a huge advantage. I would think with you being part of an NBA team you would think that coaching in the NBA for 25 years would give you a lot more experience than in college. Also Musselman started out in the NBA and he has proven you can go from that level and still do well at the college level. Musselman record in the pros was not better than what Woodson was either.
  10. The only one against it was Ryan Phillips. Jerrod Morris had written an article about Woodson before the hire about the 5 good things he would bring to IU.
  11. Back in the day the seats across the floor of the bench were all filled and had a lot of places for people in wheel chairs
  12. Eric Gordon Sr was on a podcast last night with Jim Coyle and other older IU players. Gordon said that the April events coaches probably won't be able to attend but the ones in July they look to be able to attend those.
  13. I guess UL or IU would be the closes schools to him if he wants to stay at the power 5 level
  14. Did you see during the big East tournament where a security guard did not know who Patrick Ewing was. He was coming into Madison Square Garden where he played in the NBA but didn't have his credentials and the security guard did not know him.
  15. I am sure just normal students in school in NC probably doesn't know who Mike Woodson is but that is not what is important.
  16. I guess I will try to explain why I think having an IU guy is the right thing at this time. First I am not saying this to condemn anyone or blame anyone who might not understand this. I know people who did not grow up in Indiana or is a lot younger than did not see what IU meant when RMK was the coach. I grew up in in Central Indiana in the late 70's and 80's which meant watching IU on our local channel 4 in Indy. Since it was a locally owned TV station it produced its own game which meant IU announcers. Those announcers were former players in John Laskowski and later Ted Kitchell. Back then they played games on Thursday night and Saturday and it was easy to keep up with the schedule. You know when you had to find your 2 and half hours time to watch the game plus the pre game show with RMK. RMK would have about a 12 minute segment to explain what the team was going to do against this opponent and it taught IU fans the game. Not to mention Martha the Mop Lady and the Farm Bureau Insurance commercials. All of this made IU like your own family and would do anything to support that family I know when you are younger that everything seems more important everything was such a big deal. This is what IU basketball felt like to me and that I felt part of it. You also always saw former players at the game and they were welcome back anytime they wanted. After RMK was let go I was all for letting someone else come in and try to bring IU back to where it was use to be. We brought in outside guys who had proven to win at the level they were at. They made deep runs in the tournament so they seemed like great hires but there was always something missing to them. We have done this for 20 years and it never totally panned out and here we are 20 years later trying to get IU back to what we use to be. Everyone say they want IU back to what it once was and to me it is time to bring back a guy who was part of what IU use to be.
  17. Listen to JMV yesterday and Dolson on there and said eh talked to a lot of the top people of the NBA about different coaches on his list. He said everyone of those top NBA guys said Mike Woodson is one of the top basketball minds they have came across.
