  1. Very interesting.....You are a top notch sleuth BS.
  2. B1G Standings Nebraska 15-6 UM 15-7 IU 13-7 OSU 13-9
  3. Thanks. Do you know anything about why he then chose Auburn?
  4. I looked at Smith's profile, and it seems to me that he was likely a lock for Auburn. Although Alabama, Duke, and UK were on his list, none actually offered. As he is #5 in the nation, I think this points to his being set on Auburn. But maybe someone with more knowledge of his recruitment can help us out.
  5. I agree with his coach. He is underrated. I also noted that his coach said they don't "recruit" players but told them they believe in them. He's a lefty who can use either hand at the basket. He has a very quick first step. He's very aware of the whole court. In one play where he catches the ball at the free throw line, you can see him scanning the floor before he goes up with a shot. He's also a good defender.
  6. I think Rob would be better off just being a "3 and D" guy with no PG duties.
  7. Yes, along the lines of CMW and IU can get you to the NBA. We develop players, you play in an NBA system, and your HC is a former NBA player and coach for over 35 years.
  8. This is how I felt after the Miller hire. I kept jumping in on the previous coaches full force. So I understand where you're coming from. I'll save a seat for your on the bandwagon!
  9. I think you are right that the OAD is almost gone and the 2-way contracts mean that all of the highest rated HS players will be going to the NBA out of HS. Thus, recruiting will involve finding the borderline NBA players or diamonds in the ruff that can be developed. The transfer portal will also remain big. So evaluating players and your teams needs will be more important in the future. Someone else mentioned the same thing in another thread.
  10. I was quite skeptical of the rumors on Fife coming back to IU, but it's no longer a rumor. Big get for CMW.
  11. I've given this some thought. He could of been attached to Archie. He may feel that some how he is responsible for the team's collapse and the firing of his coach. He's not. He's been through a really traumatic situation and just may need time to get it back together. He needs to take his time in making up his mind (and heart) on whether to trust CMW. Perhaps there are other reasons or it is a combination of things. But I think CMW is exactly the coach he needs.
  12. Obviously the person who did the update was a Reds fan. I think we ought to do mandatory drug testing on all Reds fans. BTW how come this is in the transfer portal thread? Does Nick have some college eligibility left?
  13. I think CMW checks all the boxes for Franklin and vice versa. Franklin can guard multiple positions -- 1 through 3 -- and has the whole offensive package including the ability to hit the 3. He's also hardworking and a good teammate. This is a guy we definitely want back. Franklin and his mom say they want someone they can trust. With CMW what you see is what you get. There may be some coaches that you can trust as much as CMW but none you can trust more. It probably seems that it is taking a long time because we're so anxious to get AF back in the fold. BTW I think AF was on his way to an all-B1G season until he hurt his ankle. He was shooting @48% from 3 and averaging 16 or so a game in the stretch before he got hurt (not the whole preseason though).
  14. This should be interesting. If Woody and Hunter can sign this guy, it would be a major reversal of our long time difficulty in recruiting in the Region.
  15. I don't know what the chances are, but I've seen both mentioned in different places as possible new IU assistants (or perhaps in the case of Buckley a recycled one!).
  16. It would be great to have Lewis on the bench. But if Lewis wants to be a HC, he needs to go get an HC job. I just don't think the "coach in waiting" is a good idea for multiple reasons. Keith Smart asked CRMK whether he should take the Fort Wayne job as a head coach or go back to IU as an assistant. Coach Knight asked me what his goal was and Smart said to become an HC. Knight said the best way to learn how to be a HC is to be a HC.
  17. If this was 1979, you'd be psychic. But it's 2021 and you just psycho.
  18. Don't know about Rizzo's contract, but Baez and Bryant were absolutely horrid in ST games.
  19. I don't remember Comar. But I do recall reading about a similar position under Sampson (maybe) which was filled by an ex-college coach. I don't remember his name.
  20. Modeling is important. I don't think you teach these things in the sense of a classroom in this case.
  21. Adding to what Scott says I think it is helpful for the players to know that they are playing for something bigger than themselves, that past players have been successful, that they have the support of past players.
