  1. It is absolutely shocking how exposed the drivers were in those days. I really like Dixon and think he is an absolute master. But the stuff that Foyt did in every format imaginable, makes him the best ever in my opinion. There are so many variables, especially across eras, that a direct comparison is impossible.
  2. This seems heavy handed. Student populations are one of the least impacted age groups. I understand the need to take precautions, but at least allow for alternatives for those who are uncomfortable with the vaccine. We are moving into authoritarian territory here.
  3. I take COVID seriously and do what I can to protect myself. I try to avoid getting sick, period. I recognized the fear tactics being used early on and presented it. I was reminded of the daily scorecard of those killed and injured during the Vietnam war. I just want an honest assessment of risk and who is most vulnerable. And, especially during the early months, I wanted the constant over the top news stories to stop. Someone trying to manipulate me is one thing I will not tolerate.
  4. I've often wondered what an alien civilization would think after observing us following dogs around and picking up their feces. Who would they think were the superior species? Although, I agree, they probably concluded that intelligent life didn't exist on this planet. Nothing to see here.
  5. I think you are on to something here. The varied reaction to the virus is probably dependent on individual immune systems. That makes it so hard to predict what the consequences of forgoing the vaccine will be. I have not been vaccinated yet, but my wife has. I fully supported her decision. In my family, some have and some haven't. My daughter, who works in a nursing home, tested positive last summer. She had no symptoms and her husband and son never tested positive. And yet, other families have been devastated by it. I guess that's why I have supported allowing individuals to make their own decisions and respect whatever that decision is. Someone once told me that you live your life at your own risk.
  6. Really sad. We don't have to be that way. People can have differing beliefs, lifestyles, and yes, opinions and still be civil and get along for the good of society.
  7. Probably at a point where masks should be optional for everyone. I prefer a well informed populace making decisions for themselves. And, hopefully, everyone respects the decisions they make.
  8. I think I remember Kopp saying that CMW wanted him to improve his rebounding. I believe that CMW sees the guys he has added more as what he believes they can be than what they have been. Woodson is all about development. That's something he is selling the guys he is recruiting. I think we will be seeing guys doing things they haven't done before.
  9. I want IU to be a football team that no one feels comfortable with being on their schedule. That they know a tough, hard fought game is coming. When we can be that, we have a chance to have exceptional seasons. The king (OSU) is only the king until someone knocks them off the throne. And someone always does. Might as well be IU.
  10. I have never been able to understand how some people can do the things they do to children. What goes wrong inside of them? It is a natural instinct to care for and protect children. I truly hope this case is solved and justice is served.
  11. I lost my mom when I was 26 in 1975. She was the kindest person I have ever known. She taught me to respect and love people of other races and cultures. So much of who I am can be traced back to her. I have missed her every day since she passed.
  12. Not your fault at all. COVID has caused all kinds of cancellations and delays. No matter how each of feels about the decisions authorities have made, that's the reality. Each of has the ability to work together to make the best of the situation. Your neighbor chose not to. This is a completely avoidable situation and is a sad commentary on the state of some members of society.
  13. No excuse for that sort of behavior. A simple conversation could have easily solved whatever issues your neighbor may have had. As a society, we have to be better than this sort of thing.
  14. I think he reminds me of Cody Zeller a little with the way he moves and runs the floor. His moves from the free throw line to the basket especially. Having 3 point range makes it even better.
  15. Not doubling you at all,but if that is true, it's a really sad and regrettable commentary on who we were back then.
  16. The Larry Bird fiasco may have cost us at least one more title. And the Oden/Conley screw up was unforgivable.
  17. Yes he was. One of my favorite players and a guy who was a prototype for what big men would become in basketball. He was also an outstanding football player in high school. Can you imagine seeing him coming at you on the football field?
  18. I think so based on his ability to control a game. Loved McGinnis and think if he would've stayed to play for Coach Knight, that would have been a championship team. Thomas was fearless and in the championship game, he dominated UNC.
  19. Agree 100% on the first two. For me, I. Thomas is arguably the best player I have seen in an IU uniform.
  20. There are so many variables that it is impossible to say who will or will not be infected. My 48 year-old daughter, who works in a nursing home, tested positive with no symptoms. Her husband and son who live with her never got COVID. I'm not dismissing the seriousness of this virus, just saying that there is a lot we still don't know about who is most vulnerable. I have been a part of several clinical studies, dry eye, and the director of those studies said she was not getting the vaccine based on the fast track nature of the process. I'm just saying that people should not be demonized for their decision, no matter what it is.
  21. I'm 72 and in good health. I have elected not to get the vaccine for now. At some point I may change my mind as I learn more. I respect each person's choice and believe everyone else should too. My wife elected to get the one shot option and I supported her 100%. I only have a problem when people want to criticize each individuals personal choice.
  22. I really liked Mike Woodson the player. But I LOVE CMW the man and coach of the Indiana Hoosiers.
  23. Maybe with the guys we have already coaching will make a noticeable difference. Let's not underestimate what CMW and staff can do.
  24. I think Michigan with Howard and now IU with CMW is recognizing the future of college basketball. The NBA is where the kids we need want to go. They want coaches who can get them there. Capital's entire pitch is that. I don't like it, but that is reality in today's game. We all want IU to be relevant. This is how to get there. TJD would not have returned if if that was not the case.
  25. The fact that coach Knight let him be part of the program should tell us all we need to know. Knight was notoriously hard on rule breakers.
