For my taste, SI fell off the rails in the early 2000s. I remember switching to Sporting News. They didn’t last too long. Then it was internet sources, no more magazines.

I have had a hard time finding them at my digital libraries (and local regular library) as well. I usually buy them used from thriftbooks.com. I’ll have to look tonight to see what I have but would be more than happy to mail what I have to you. I won’t read them again.

Another good series is the Eddie Flynn books by Steve Cavanagh. A con-artist turned lawyer who always has trouble knocking on his door.

I read the 4th installment, The Devils Hand, in December. It was the best of the series to this point (barring maybe the first). Can’t wait to get into the 5th one.

First round. 6 hrs @ 165*. Probably could have been 30-60 mins less. But I didn’t want to diverge from the recipe at the first go around. I’m really happy with the first go around. A little charred and crunchy exterior but tender after the initial crunch (looks more charred than it is. Maybe that’s homemade jerky for ya). The flavor is so good. Chili, black and cayenne pepper, smoky. The best doesn’t kick until after you swallow. Could have used a little brown sugar or honey for a sweetness.
