He'll be back for next season but he may never be the same player again. This is basically worst case scenario.

Agreed, my guess is between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2019 he will return assuming their are no complications or the surgery gets delayed for some reason.

I feel the same way about Vic's situation as I did about PG's. Just awful. But not giving up. PG dealt with a great deal of adversity and difficulty to get back to a top player in the NBA. Vic clearly has an incredible work ethic and positive drive. Whatever the news, I have confidence in Vic returning to form even if it's a full year deal.

I agree.  I still love Paul.  Once Vic is back, he will be even stronger and better.  It could just end up being a rough year or so until he returns.  Maybe we are lucky and it is a dislocated knee cap.  I trust Pritchard and company will  make the right decisions moving forward.

Let me know on that MRI that I'm assuming was done first thing this morning if not last night.

still nothing as of noon today sadly. Pacers felt that he didn't need an MRI last night, instead let him be with family and friends, rest and get one today. Possible news conference at 1pm today to discuss Oladipo news, but nothing has been confirmed

  4. was at the game, saw him running up the court for the chase down, then falls to the ground.  bankers life was dead silent, you could have dropped a quarter in the balcony and heard it anywhere in the arena.  My guess is a broken or dislocated knee cap.  Regardless probably a 10 month rehab, so IF he was to return say in November the team would take it easy for a bit like they did with PG when he returned for a handful of games.    Now what does Kevin Pritchard do?  Stand pat and ride the current team(Bojan/Thad/Tyreke/Cory/Collison) all are free agents next year so by them having to pick up scoring it'll only drive up the cost to resign them if we choose.  Or do they try and make a trade for a bigger name player that is under contract for a few more years?  Does this injury derail any chance of a legit player wanting to come to Indy next year to play?  Who knows

Why do bad things/injuries happen to Indy's best players.  Started with Peyton Manning, then Paul George, then Andrew Luck and now Victor.

A bunch of us were talking at the start of the season about whether teams would game plan better for Vic, whether he would press a bit, and whether the P's were better off playing more to their new balance of players/offense than having Vic do it all -- last season he pretty much had to do it all and yes it does take time for teams to adjust. I caught a lot of flack saying I thought the P's would be better off balancing their O and that teams would adjust to Vic. Vic is a fantastic player, he has risen his game to a top 15-20 player or so depending on how anyone personally "ranks" him. I do think the P's are better off when they balance their O more, and unlike last season they've won games when Vic was out due to injury.

However, I also think we're seeing mid-season of the regular season stuff, when good teams lose games and lack energy etc. The P's are a lot better than last night. Vic is a lot better than last night. Similar thing going on with the Thunder, who lost at home to a Lebron-less Lakers team after losing at Atlanta, and Westbrook shot horribly and had a lot to do with their losing. P's will be fine, I think, just like the Thunder. Wouldn't read too much into this point in the year -- and they're still towards the top of the standings.

Yea I agree with you 100%.  Balance the offense, stick with what you have been doing on defense and they'll be fine.  I think Vic will get out of the shooting funk, I just hope it is not a long one.

  6. After last nights game, here is what I am thinking.  My fear was a lot of teams did not know how to defend and adjust to Vic during his breakout season last year because they hadn't seen it in previous years. After the start of last year my worry was he would regress and that maybe it was a fluke during the first quarter of last season with how efficient he was. As the season went on, he continued to impress in all areas, hit big shots, do the small things, preach chemistry, win awards, take a Lebron led team in the playoffs to a 7 game series, the list goes on and on. I do think he has came back down to earth some this year. My biggest worry was his shooting percentage last year and that has been starting to show for this year.  If he shoots the ball at a respectable rate, it will be deemed a good game. But if he is shooting 6 of 20(last nights game), that cannot become the norm, and if it starts too, I hope he realizes that and does not continue that trend if his shot from outside isn't falling. I would hope he would attack the rim more. If he is attacking the rim and just not getting fouls called or missing these, then I am fine with him having a lower field goal percentage But if he is going to settle for jump shots and 3-pointers, I am a little worried. I understand to keep attacking, but at what point do you stop attacking?

I am a huge Victor fan and always will be, so no one take this as I am attacking him.

Yikes.  that is brutal  4-7 would be an accomplishment.  All the more important that they take care of business now.  Can't be losing any more to teams like the Cavs (I still can't comprehend that home loss).

completely agree, they need to take care of every game now, especially winning 90% of the games against non playoff teams and AT LEAST splitting 50/50 with current playoff teams.

I am predicting during that brutal 11 game stretch, the Cers go 5-6 with wins at Bucks, at 76ers, home against Knicks, at Clippers,  and home against Celtics.

I'll actually be disappointed if the Pacers finish behind the Bucks.

I will be too.  I just think Giannis will carry them until his wheels fall off.  Maybe we get lucky and that happens towards the end of the season.  However the end of March worries me for the Pacers.  Beginning March 7th and ending March 29th.  We play the following 8 games(easily the toughest stretch of the Pacers season):

    Bucks(A)

    76ers(A)

    Knicks(H)

    Thunder(H)

    Nuggets(A)

    Trailblazers(A)

    Clippers(A)

    Warriors(A)

    Nuggets(H)

    Thunder(A)

    Celtics(H)

This will be a tough 11 game stretch.  This stretch could define if we get the #2, #3 or #4 seed with the playoffs shortly after this tough stretch.  Only non playoff team here is the Knicks.

  9. With the way things are looking mid way into the season, as long as the Pacers can maintain no big health concerns moving forward, I think they end up as the 3rd or 4th seed in the playoffs.  The Celtics I think are candidate to finish in the fourth or fifth spot, especially the fifth spot if they continue to have the issues that they are having currently.  The 76ers are still a toss up for me and they could flip with Boston for the 5th seed.  I think the Raptors and Bucks still finish as the #1 and #2 seed and the end of the regular season.  I think we have a strong blueprint to beat the Bucks, however the Raptors I am not sure as we have yet to see them fully healthy this season when we have faced them.  I think if we finish in the top 3, we will win our first round series for sure regardless who we play, if we finish 4th and have to play Philly or Boston in the first series then I think it'll take all 7 games.

I think the Pacers need to go 4-1 during this upcoming 5 game home stretch.

They are playing worse without Myles than they did without Vic.

Vic is a good defender, however having at 7 foot shoot blocker presence in the lane is very key since lots of guys can get into the lane in the NBA.  Ball movement was awesome when Vic was out, ball movement was still good until Myles went out with his injury.

Pacers are looking pretty bad the last few games and are playing horrible defense,  Gave up 122 to Toronto with 70 in the first half. Gave up 115 to Cleveland with 72 in the second half. Gave up 133 to Boston.

Agree 100%.  When a shot blocker is in the lane/paint, its always on the opposing teams mind when they are near the rim

  12. So Myles Turner is very important to the Pacers, especially on the defensive end.  His presence is surely missed.  Sabonis fills in quite well, however Myles is on another level on the defensive side of the ball compared to Sabonis.  Don't get me wrong, I love Sabonis but that just isn't his game.  I would love if Sabonis improved defensively during this upcoming offseason.

Same for Rose, ahead of Harden. The fan vote is a complete joke. At least it's been reduced to 50% this year, with 25% media and 25% coaches. The funny thing there though is that D Wade could well get in the game, as the players will probably give him votes as a send off -- and that means that once again some very deserving player will get hosed, so maybe not that funny.

Right now Jamal Murray is nowhere in the votes -- but he's having a terrific year and leading the West Conf leading Nuggets. That's pathetic -- courtesy of the fan voting.

Agree, I think it should be 25% fans, and split it down the middle for media and coaches for the remaining 75%.  I am fine with Wade making it, however I agree that very good players get hosed especially smaller market teams.  Rose shouldn't be above Harden.

I wish they would go back to 2 guards, 2 forwards and 1 center.

Watching the Pacers tonight Quinn said something I had never heard before and that he was going to go to UCLA but it was his dad that really made him go to IU.

I heard that too and thought that was interesting.  Reminds me of Scott May going to IU however his son chose UNC.  I cannot remember for the life of me why Sean chose UNC

Pacers just got screwed for the second time in two days. Crazy. Completely avoidable by not sucking, but still crazy.

Agree, the missed call last night was horrible, even the Raptors bench reactions told the story.  They shouldn't of been in that situation to begin with, however the refs truly cost the team a chance at overtime.  IMO Vic really hurt us in the last minute of that game.  I have about 1% left of hope for Tyreke.  PLAY AARON HOLIDAY INSTEAD!!!!!!!!!

Myles was a blocking machine last night, so that was a plus!

I didn’t watch the game, but read that VO shot 4-15 and was a big reason for lack of ball movement in the first half.  I’ve seen other posters on here state that the Pacers are very good when VO isn’t looking to get his and lets the game come to him.  For those of you who watched, did you see this as an issue last night?

I didn't really notice Vic forcing a lot of shots.  There were a few that were forced, however only Myles and Sabonis shot over 50% for the game.  Vic did have 5 assists, only two points going into half I believe.  I would have liked to see Vic and Myles run the PnR a little more in the second half.
