I think this off season and the results/performance of next years team will tell us whether Coach Woodson will turn this around. Coach will have a full season to calibrate his expectations and decision-making. Year two is when we will know, not year one.

It was my understanding that Fife was a top notch assistant and recruiter at MSU, a program that has clearly been the top program in the conference for over 20 years. Was this not true? If true, how has he managed to perform in such stark contrast to his days with Izzo? I think this is probably just some in the fan-base making up things and far too many others believing the rumors. This, btw, is what happens when you mix the "wild west" of the internet with a floundering basketball program.

Knight and Lou Henson should sit down with these two and help them resolve this issue, you know, for the sake of civility and decorum. My view is that canceling the end of game handshake doesn't "force/encourage" players and coaches to develop self-control and sportsmanship. If the Big Ten Competition Committee(if there is one) thinks that sportsmanship is important, than they need to look at game film and determine if teams are practicing the "right" behavior during the game. Heck, the flop rule was put in for this very reason, right? Play hard, play fair, shake hands, don't be a freaking baby about it.

His 2nd season, Final Four baby. Maybe that is what Woodson will do as well. BTW-when the field expanded to 64 in 1985, IU went to the NIT. Knight never missed the tournament again while at IU.

I want to think that we are going in the right direction, but in what way are we really any different this year? Suspensions, injuries, multiple game losing streaks when we need to be building momentum. Our defense is better, I guess. We always seem to have a nice recruit, but never in enough in numbers to build a team set at more than 1-2 positions. Woodson set a goal with the team to defend our home court, but in the last month we lost three games. I don't like Coach Woodson, I love him. He has to overhaul the line up this off season and figure out how to get the stink off of this program. Blah, blah, blah....it will be beyond awesome if we don't have to have this conversations on this board year after stinking year. I hate sports.

I don't know enough about basketball to diagnose our offensive system, but I do recognize good offensive possessions when I see them(I think). Movement off both players and the ball(inside-out and side-to-side) usually leads to good shots and often points. If this team could make shots that are "makeable" at a better percentage, we would be close to 20 wins right now. Our defense has been solid to excellent all year, which would only be helped if we put the ball through the hoop 6-8 more times per game. This would put more pressure on the other team while also helping keep our players motivated and focused on defense. Against MSU: 2FG%: 20/59 33.9% 3FG%: 5/21 23.8% FT%: 16/27 59.3% What if: Season Average: Top 50 in NCAA % 2FG%: 24/59 40.6% +8pts 45.9% 46.82% 3FG%: 7/21 33.3% +6pts 33.9% 36.48% FT%: 19/27 70.4% +3pts 67.8% 75.05% This is 17 more points for the good guys, and in theory, a few less points for the bad guys. So, if we were able to shoot percentages in these three categories which are even top 50 nationally, we win. In my mind, this indicates that we are playing pretty good basketball with in all phases except hitting shots.

I don't think we can play through TJD when he posts. He seems to have much more success when he cuts and rim runs.
