    Beware--OSU bias

This guy has some interesting stuff. Basically saying deaths and positive cases are being counted multiple times. Old data being counted with new data (as @5foulshas pointed out). Also, we are well past the 14 days when deaths were supposed to spike and they haven't rose to levels originally projected.

14 days isn’t really a good benchmark given that the typical time from case —> hospitalization —> death is greater than 14 days. That being said: deaths will probably rise more slowly than cases due to a number of factors.

With regard to the data: of course it’s slowly updated because the CDC does not keep their data up to date - so at all times during the pandemic CDC’s updated totals have primarily been old data. There are far better sources out there that aggregate state data (which is far more accurate and up to date).

I don't think so, but I will for sure. On my way to get a cheeseburger pizza  and garlic knots from 450 north

Once again, Columbus proves why it is the Athens of the Prairie.

Who here likes garlic knots?  I could eat a dozen every day.

    Always great.

Of course, not that I don’t live in Indiana, I miss the Hoosier staple: breadsticks with cheese sauce.

I will fight somebody over what’s the best deep dish pizza. I’ve put a lot of thought into this over the years so if you want to debate me you better come at me guns blazing. 😎

First, I’ve talked to many people who have developed a negative opinion on deep dish because they either get imposter pizza outside of Chicago or have tried Pizzeria Uno (barf) Or Connies (double barf). If this sounds like you, then give it another try.

The best Chicago Deep dish is made with the CORNMEAL CRUST. That’s right, you hear me lovers of Girodanos. I’m sorry, but doughy crust with all that cheese and all that sauce just throws off the ratio and it lacks crispiness. We’re supposed to be eating pizza not triangle shaped lasagna.

That leaves you with Lou Malnatis (1A On my list) and Ginos East (1B On my list). Both have great pepperoni and amazing sausage. Lou Malnati’s gets the nod because they have ‘The Lou’ which is a tomato, spinach, mushroom pizza.

All good thoughts. Lou’s is my clear favorite amongst those options.

But begs the question: where does Pizano’s fit on your list? That’s probably my #2 (although I really haven’t had Gino’s as much as I should).

Did you listen to the podcast? Some of the studies done are criminal.

Yes. She’s not very credible (and that’s an extremely generous opinion of her).

There are some issues with some studies (including those that show benefits!). Which goes back to: People overstate when they definitively say it does not work, but there’s no evidence to date that it does work and no reason to think it will. We are far, far better off focusing on treatments that are showing clear benefit in initial trials.

  6. Favorite is Chicago thin crust pizza (have heard it called tavern style as well) - that’s really the true Chicago pizza (that’s what all the old neighborhood bars and pizza places serve in many parts of the city).

Vito and Nick’s, as mentioned above, it the best-known example, but lots of other local ones. Flo Santos is a good, newer, well-known option.

Thin, crisp, cooked in a big gas pizza oven (usually).

I'll balance that out with some hopeful news: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-53248660 🙂

The full version of this study is fascinating. With lots of caveats (not peer-reviewed, lots of remaining open questions, etc.), it opens up very positive possibilities, including longer-lasting T cell protection. Plus: it found some that people who were exposed to COVID but never tested positive AND did not have antibodies still had T cell response (which, depending on effectiveness of T cell response on preventing or mitigating infection, may decrease the susceptible population to some degree beyond those who have neutralizing antibodies).

Here is an interview with an ER doctor regarding HCQ. It’s about an hour long, but worth it.

TMR 246 : Dr. Simone Gold : On the Politicisation of HCQ

I think the reality is that HCQ and zinc is the cure but big pharma can’t make any money on that.

It is unlikely that university researchers are sufficiently biased that they’d be trying to stop HCQ use in order to support big pharma while accepting additional deaths.

There are a number of research studies with mixed results (at best), and the latest study is not a full review of HCQ (as there are a number of confounding variables - even the conclusion of the study is just that it merits research). It’s a bit too much to say HCQ definitively does not work, but there’s little evidence today supporting that it is particularly effective.

    OG looking good early.

OG is such a solid NBA player. His floor is a solid 3 and D starter on a contender - with much more upside than that. I have nothing against Leaf (who I think can turn into a rotation player), but OG was there for the Pacers and would have been such a fit for this team. Frustrating.
