Went into the food mart at a gas station this evening.

    • Cashier had her mask down around her neck.
    • Woman customer buying stuff had no mask at all.
    • As I was leaving, man walks in with no mask.

Most people where I live going into gas stations aren't masked. Of course, most people where I live aren't wearing masks anywhere. In larger cities I've visited recently, a lot of people have been masked. In smaller towns like the one I live in, many people just aren't doing it.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky reported 977 cases yesterday and only 253 today.  Numbers that far apart in a 24 hour period are hard to accept as reality.  One or the other is off for whatever reason.

They were so tired from counting that high they needed to rest a bit today? Three-digit numbers are big to Kentuckians.

Why would more people wearing masks be sad?  Whatever anyone thinks about whether the virus is as bad as some make it out to be, wearing masks will reduce the spread.  And, the sooner that happens, the sooner things can get back close to normal.

I meant that even though I saw more people than I could ever remember wearing masks at this Wal-Mart, the vast majority still didn't have them.

  4. Went to Wal-Mart today for a good laugh, since the mask mandate takes effect tomorrow. You would have thought the blizzard of the century was coming. Scads and scads of people without masks pushing overflowing carts, obviously hoping they won't have to go grocery shopping again in the foreseeable future.

The saddest part was, I still saw more masks than I can ever remember seeing there.

Just said it paints Indiana in a bad light....and heck could negatively affect recruiting when kids hear about this sort of stuff.

Is there anything happening in the world that our fanbase collectively could look at and not think "this could negatively affect recruiting?" Good lord.

  6. These numbers are just mind-boggling. I remember back in April thinking 39K was outrageously high.

Texas and Florida are combining for about 20,000 per day the last few days. About a month ago, we had days with fewer than 20,000 for the whole country.

As a reminder, numbers on Tuesday are almost always the highest of the week, as counties/states that do not report over the weekend catch up on their reporting.  And, with this past weekend being a holiday, expect the daily number inflation to be even bigger than normal.  Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday numbers are usually the best barometer of where we stand.

    Wednesday: 61,848

    Thursday: 61,067

    Friday: 71,305

That's a common thing in coaching. All coaches I know who has a wife that teaches make sure their spouse has a position.

Did you read my post past the word job? They hired his wife first, and then made their pitch to him. It's not a case of a coach requesting a job for his wife.

The Vic thing is disappointing. I want to love and support him but I think the lime light has changed him. Not a good look giving up on your teammates. I know people have different opinions but most Pacer fans on their fan board want him gone now. If not for his history with us I probably would understand them...so hard to dislike him but people change...and this isn’t the Vic I recognize.

Yeah, starting to get more of a Paul George vibe with him after this, and I hate that.

  10. Would libraries be a breeding ground for Covid? I ask because the library where I live still isn't letting anyone in except for a very small area near the entrance. I can't think of one time in my life where I got sick and blamed it on a trip to the library.

    Sigh...Some people

Was this guy not smart enough to know the difference between freedom of expression and shopping in a privately owned enterprise who can dictate their own rules?

    Good for the Costco manager...

And for all the people who're "boycotting" Costco because of the mask policy, I say good...less dummies I have to deal with when I go...

This goes back to a very basic rule I learned at a young age: when you're a guest in someone else's house, you play by their rules. Don't like their rules? Don't visit their house.

In this case, Costco asks its customers to wear a mask. If you want to shop at this store, then wear a f*cking mask. It's not hard. Or, shop at a different store that doesn't require masks.

But in this day and age, I suppose it's much easier to make a video of yourself acting like a tough guy and trying to sound like some sort of rebel with phrases like "it's a free country" and "I'm not a sheep." Which, I agree with him, he's not a sheep; he's a mentally retarded mule.

Not specifically topical, but with Covid-19 seemingly having a hand in everything that goes on in the world these days, I thought I would raise my concern here.

There are certain posters that I expect to see on the board, and when you don't see them in a while, you become concerned. We all seem to go through that when we don't hear from HTD at least once every couple of weeks

Another one is @Zlinedavid, who has not been on the board since February.  But, he had an extended absence (for 2-3 years I believe) in the past, so there is some history there.

My current concern is with @ricowho has not been on since Wednesday morning.  Now, on the surface, two days does not see like enough time to worry.  But, other than a year or so ago when he had his scary medical episode, I don't ever recall a time when Rico has been away from the board for that long of a time.  Considering what is going on in the world, I think it's fairly easy to dismiss this as simply a 'being on vacation' type of thing.

Am I premature to worry about this?

Before any of this started, I always used to wonder what happened when people would abruptly disappear, like maybe they died or went to prison.

I've always wondered what became of kylehornsbyrules. Probably doing 7-10 for something or other.

Regardless of the reality, no elite college basketball player would ever respond to a statement questioning his ability to go pro by saying “I’m not good enough.”  Especially one with pro aspirations like TJD.

You really think TJD doesn’t believe he’s good enough to go pro?

No, I'm saying he responded to a comparison to Garza by humbly saying he's not on Garza's level...and he's not.

OK, I'll bite...tell us what Garza gains with a 4th year at Iowa.

He may well come back, but I'm struggling to see his motivation to do so.

A chance to be one of the best players in the country again. Playing on a team that could win the Big Ten and make a deep run. A chance to make the NBA scouts start noticing him.

Or he could go to Europe and disappear.

Jeff Goodman and Andy Katz both think he comes back. It's not as outlandish as some of our fans want to believe.

I'm sure others can find and post the actual tweet. I can't remember if the guy who tweeted is a member on here or not so I'll just replay it. Baumgart guy says he thinks people would be surprised how likely he thinks TJD could come back for his Junior year...comparing him and numbers to Luke Garza. Little bit of time goes by and TJD made fun of the tweet basically saying bad take. I think we should enjoy TJD this year and that's about it.

I interpreted that response as him saying "I'm not THAT good," not as a reference to how long he'd be in school.

On a side note, I find it hilarious how many IU fans are desperately hoping Garza doesn't come back next season.

No kidding. I really hope we here in Indiana see the same results as our comrades down south. After going to the Walmart garden center yesterday morning I'm a tad nervous on the reboot. People walking around the store....no gloves, masks, carrying their starbucks. I'm happy for those who want and get to go back to work...but I won't be partaking in any of this until I see some solid numbers in a couple of weeks.

I had to go to Walmart the other day, and it was ridiculous. People everywhere in large groups having chatty conversations. I had to ask several people (as politely as I could) to please step aside so I could get what I needed off a shelf. Checkout lines were 5-6 deep, including self-checkout, with no social distancing.

The youth baseball league where I live was cancelled this summer. Some of the parents were so upset, they protested and pestered the league president until he finally stepped down out of frustration. Someone else took over, and these people are trying to get the kids on the field now. Not like, later this summer, which I would fully support; they want the kids on the field now.

I really, really don't want to see high school football get cancelled because we re-opened everything too soon and had an outbreak during the summer.

I'm going to go on a rant and try to be very careful to not use four letter words.

I am so sick and tired of the media bias and half truths.  I usually read both sides, knowing that neither is being entirely truthful.  But tonight's contradictions totally take the cake.

I watched Tucker Carlson on Fox news Channel tonight.  He had a very interesting story and interview with an Australian news reporter who helped publish a 15 page dossier that states that intelligence sources in the Five Eyes nations (U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand) call out China for all their lies, while strongly suggesting that the virus originated in the Wuhan lab.

Here is a link that covers that angle.  Note, the original Australian version of the story required a subscription.

    https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/coronavirus/bombshell-dossier-lays-out-case-against-chinese-bat-virus-program/news-story/55add857058731c9c71c0e96ad17da60

Imagine my surprise when surfing the net and pulling up CNN.com, the headline is a story  that paints the totally opposite picture.  The CNN story suggest 'sources among the Five Eyes intelligence communities take the totally opposite view. The headline speaks for itself.   Intel shared among US allies indicates virus outbreak more likely came from market, not a Chinese lab

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/04/politics/coronavirus-intelligence/index.html

How in the living heuhl can two different media organizations publish/report on the same thing and get polar opposite opinions.  The answer is that most media outlets are corrupt, will only publish stories containing their corporate slant, and in many cases, will politicize a story with a misleading or baited headline.

All in all, at times like we currently face, this type of behavior is sickening.  The public does not know what to believe, and those individuals who only watch/read one side of the story, are often manipulated into believing the only information they see.

I've probably unfollowed more people on Facebook in the last few weeks than I have in the last 12 years. It's absolutely ridiculous how much political fiction and photoshopped images are getting passed around.

Kentucky is doing so much better than Indiana, it's not even funny.

It irritates me to no end that the hillbilly capital of the world is managing this better than we are.

And I hate how that statement can apply to basketball, too. 🤮
