As I've mentioned before, Michigan's starting guards this year were 5'11 and 6'1. If you can play, you can play.

There is always a local kid who I wish IU would have pushed harder for who goes elsewhere and ends up very successful. One who comes to mind most for me is Kellen Dunham. Would have LOVED him at IU over Buss Patterson and Hollowell. That in-state class was LOADED but sadly we ended up only hitting on Yogi. Behind Yogi, Gary Harris and Glenn Robinson, I always felt Kellen was next best.
we played them 1-2 x per year. He lit us up for 45 on his senior night. Knew he'd be a big time scorer at Butler.

You think the staff is passing?
Not necessarily yet, but a lot more attractive options are available due to extra year and portal. I've wanted him for a couple years now.

I've watched Braden for a few years. I'm torn. He absolutely has what we want....he also has App St and IUPUI as his highest suitors. He might be one of those go somewhere else and transfer in 2 years type of players since the NCAA has set in motion the lower programs are basically feeder programs for P5. I'll be cheering for him wherever he lands for sure.
Unfortunately I think you’re right. The extra year and portal killed those tweener chances

I would imagine some 4th year seniors will choose to either try to go pro or play their 5th years elsewhere. But you’re right - there are a lot more factors and moving parts than in the past that can be hard to plan for.
You are both spot on. If the transfer portal and extra year didn’t exist, I think he would be a Hoosier. Never know though

If It is purely on vote that is very rough for those 4 to 10 borderline kids we mentioned earlier in this conversation it would be a shame if they didn’t have an opportunity to play their way on
I can help here. I voted on our ballot. Basically you pick 12 guys. Rank em 1-12 in order of importance to you. 1 being Mr Basketball. I won’t lie, Luke Brown got my vote. So it will depend who got the most amount of lower number votes. I’m guessing players 9-12 and 13-18 will be within 40-50 votes of each other, meaning 13-18 were that close to making it

Fletcher Loyer from Homestead and Conner Essegian from Central Noble will be the ones from my area.
I watched the game where they played Busco...Essegian was unguardable for a huge stretch of that game...is he B10 level? Or could be?

Tom Coverdale minus the Budweiser good? A capable shooting point guard? Who will make 37-42% of 3’s in college off the catch? I’m in.

I’ve wanted him at IU since he torched us as a freshman 2 years ago. He’s good.

No kidding...I'm in the camp of minimal offers going out because it's going to be a free for all free agency period when the transfer portal is open.
I'd love to have him, been saying that for almost 2 years.

Michigan’s starting guards today were 5’11 and 6’1. I understand they have high quality bigs, but they get the job done.

I feel like 2022 can be better than we think. I know we missed on a few in 2021 that stung a little bit, but with CJG already verballed, a couple of crystal ball guesses (there's a least some noise about us in these camps) and current players, I think the big picture looks better than people realize...

Thats too bad...I thought he might be a Indiana all star candidate
He is. No doubt. His attitude on the floor will hurt his chances.

Do you think it was a mistake to let Gus Echtison fly by without taking a harder look..i seen some highlights of him and he looks like a huge still for Western Michigan
No. He’s a great player. Attitude issues well before his fathers passing, and it’s worse now. Pray he figures it out.

I haven't seen Loyer play much, but my comp would be a slightly shorter (6' vs 6'2 atm) more athletic Bryant McIntosh (from Greensburg played at NW). Winning IN HS players/leaders at good size schools (3A/4A) with vision and shooting. Smith led team in rebounds as freshman IIRC so he plays with tenacity that is evident when you watch him. Just plays to win.
Smith HS stats:

McIntosh NW highlights:
I've seen him play several times...this is a fantastic comparison! May even be a slightly better shooter than McIntosh was at the time...

Who is the last guy we got out of LN? Have had several good players roll through that school who have chosen to go elsewhere over the years.
